  • Anti Horse Slaughter
This is to prevent the opening of slaughter houses that President Obama has given the go ahead to re -establish and to put a halt to horses being transported to Mexico and Canada to the processing plants. The slaughter houses are being re-opened to provide employment and the meat sent overseas to Japan and France . The medications our horses have had throughout their lifetimes renders them unfit for human consumption. Tax the !% and hold our corporations accountable, enforce them to make jobs available for Americans not Mumbai, China etc, bring back our jobs from abroad . It's criminal to kill when the solution of unemployment lies with government and corporate greed. The bill passed to re-open slaughter houses is totally bogus. Please don't murder our four legged friends who have fought on the front lines , transported caskets for our fallen soldiers , plowed our fields, carried us along in carts, made us cash winnings at the races and generally given us all round pleasure . Our horses don't die instantly at slaughter , they endure extreme terror and torture . Lets not allow such cruelty. Surely we are not a nation of such insanity . .

  • Protect our Horses
The only bi-partisan bill passed by Congress and signed by President Obama allows for the slaughter of horses for consumption. These animals are not bred for food. These compatriots helped us settle this country pulling wagons, plowing fields, carrying the mail, herding cattle and charging with us into battle. These animals are highly intelligent, communicating by telepathy. We are losing horses, polar bears, sea otters, seals, tigers, elephants, big apes. If you care about animals, stop the gratuitious slaughter of horses.

  • Ban Horse Slaughter Now!
As a result of spending bill H2112, slaughterhouses in the United States will be able to resume slaughtering horses for human consumption. We are not a nation that raises horses as food animals or one that consumes horse meat. Rather, horses are largely considered companion animals, more similar to dogs and cats than to animals raised for consumption. They should therefore be treated as such, and not subjected to mass slaughter. "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Mahatma Gandhi

  • Restore Paterno's name to Big Ten trophy
Last year, the Big Ten Conference decided to honor Coach Joe Paterno by partially naming the conference championship trophy after him. After Coach Paterno was fired, Commissioner Jim Delany decided to remove his name from the trophy. However, Coach Paterno met his legal responsibility and has not been charged with a crime. None of us can fairly judge what he should or should not have done in a situation which we ourselves did not experience. People are upset and want justice, but our country does not run on mob rule. Unless legal authorities find Coach Paterno to be complicit in the alleged abuse, his name should be restored to the trophy. This petition will be sent to Commissioner Delany on November 30th, a few days before the inaugural Big Ten Championship game.

  • Jumpstarting Laser Cutter for South Campus
This open letter is addressing the laser cutter set up for the full-time students at South Campus. We currently have the laser cutter (two-thirds completed) set up within the Media Design Studio. From our understanding there are two key components that the overall set up lacks : a fume cabinet, for obvious safety reasons, and also a new card reader. Our main concern is getting the new laser cutter to be set up for the Grad Community of Media Design and Fine Art - that have been patiently waiting. We come to Art Center for the experience of working with advance fabrication technology in a studio environment with like-minded peers. You can view the unfinished set up here: http://bit.ly/ucLX9S
