Fix the MTA!Since San Francisco voters and city officials handed authority for managing our streets, traffic, parking, Muni, and taxis to the SFMTA, all those systems have deteriorated. SFMTA spends more money and delivers less service per capita than any comparable transit system in the country. Claims of fraudulent accounting practices, handshake deals, and preferential treatment, are running rampant. Muni drivers have a class action suit pending and there are a number of CEQA appeals winding their way through the courts. Reduced parking and restricted traffic lanes have created daily gridlock. San Francisco is now rated the third worst in the country for parking. The congestion parking schemes do not work as promised and the MTA has no real plan to deal with the increase in traffic that new development will inevitably bring. We have lost faith in the SFMTA and are fed up with promises of future visions of grandeur. Muni delivers less than 98.5% of scheduled service and has never met 85% of on time performance. Everyone complains about lack of notice, public outreach and citizen involvement in developing and approving citywide transit projects. Plans to revise Muni lines, along with threats to raise rates, fees and fines, have turned many Muni riders against the SFMTA and customer satisfaction is at an all time low. Residents are unlikely to support any new fares, fines, fees, bonds, or other funding measures to dig the SFMTA out of its financial hole. The SFMTA has lost the trust of residents and we believe the only way out of this mess is to pass a Charter Amendment to fix the MTA. Please sign the petition, leave your comments, join us or work with neighborhood groups to help us fix the MTA. Thank you for your support. Use the comments to let city officials know how you feel about the MTA when you sign the petition. Emails are required to avoid double signatures, but they are blind.246 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Peter Kirby

Reform Child Support NOW!I have been personally affected by the current child support system in a negative manner. The current law is outdated, unfair, and in many instances, unconstitutional. Reform is needed so that the modern family and our diverse situations can be correctly addressed. This will ensure that proper guidelines are being mandated and followed. No child deserves to be subjected to witnessing their parent fall victim to the child support system.11,866 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by N.K Clark

Fund the Gateway Arts DistrictFunding from Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is critical to the infrastructure and community program operations for the smaller and older municipalities within the Gateway Arts District. As a stakeholder in the community, I would like to stress how dire this funding is for our communities. We work, live and invest in these communities. Towns like North Brentwood and Brentwood need this funding. Organizations like the Gateway CDC, Joe’s Movement Emporium, Art Works Now, the Prince George’s African American Museum and Cultural Center, the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council are partners in revitalizing and driving economic growth along U.S. Route 1 – county support is critical in ensuring the success and stability of these organizations and communities in the Gateway Arts District.311 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Monica Buitrago

Stop a Urban Sports Complex from developing over Ancient Native American sites and Natural Open S...As a parent I value this space because it offers my children the much needed breath of fresh air and natural exposure within the city we are bound. Fairview Park, as it exits now, invites the visitor to reflect upon the Native Americans who lived there for thousands of years, as is reflected in various sites nationally recognized as archaeologically significant. Frankly speaking there is NO place that offers the oppurtunities that exist in Fairview Park.261 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Brandon Prochelo

Indiana Borough Council: Approve Indiana's Farmers' Market Move to IRMC ParkThe Indiana Farmers' Market has run out of space in its Wednesday evening location in the S&T Bank parking lot. It would like to move to Downtown Indiana's IRMC Park on Wednesday evenings. Since it's had to turn away vendors due to its limited space, the market may be forced to seek alternative locations outside the Borough if Council doesn't approve the use of IRMC Park.448 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Eric Barker

State of Michigan Lacks funds for Adult Protective ServicesOnly .4% of the Department of Health and Human Services budget goes to the Adult Protective Services Department. In January there was 3000 cases and only 112 APS agents in the entire state of Michigan. A member of my family had a large part of her savings stolen due to telephone fraud and exploitation. Several of her elderly neighbors have been neglected or abused by family members and caretakers. We want abuse, exploitation, and neglect investigated and eliminated for this vulnerable adult population. Help the governor and state legislature see that we care what is happening to our elderly. More money needs to be invested into this population. Please don't hesitate sign our petition today your future depends on it.109 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Bonnie Dickinson, Maneesha Finkle, Rashawn Jones, Rayna Turrent

Minnesota Child Support LawThe state of Minnesota receives federal incentives for every dollar they collect in child support. The middle class parent is stuck paying the bill. The lower income parent does not pay a significant amount of child support for the state to invest in enforcement, and the high income parents have the ability to fight the laws in court. There are three tiers used to determine the amount of child support (tier I 0% to 10%, tier II 10.1% to 45%, and tier III 45.1% and above). A non custodial parent who is with his child 45% of the month will pay the same amount as a parent that sees his child 10% (granted that the income is the same, etc.) Unless the custodial parent agrees to a high percentage of parenting time, the non custodial parent will need to prove child endangerment in order have the child support lowered. The middle class non custodial parent pays a significant amount in child support and usually is unable to afford the legal fees associated with the court system. There needs to be more tiers for non custodial parents allowing for a fairer child support determination.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Scott Pierce

Tell Illinois mayor: Let church reopen its doors to the homelessAll winter, the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Rockford has opened its doors to the homeless whenever overnight temperatures fell below freezing. On most nights, nearly 50 people would seek life-saving refuge from the bitter cold. The church is acting on their beliefs -- namely, that Christians have an obligation to care for those who are cold, hungry, outcast, and excluded. But last Wednesday, the city of Rockford cited the church for code and zoning violations and demanded that they cease sheltering people at night. According to the church's pastor, the city warned them that it would be illegal for the church to continue opening their doors to the homeless. City officials have a rightful responsibility to protect the public from harm, but in this case, they're doing more harm than good. Most seeking shelter in the church have no other options during dangerously cold nights. Barring the church from welcoming these people could cost lives. Let's show the mayor that thousands of people from all over the country are standing with this church!111 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Michael Sherrard, Faithful America
