  • Stop House Bill 1030
Victims of violent crimes can not afford to have victim services shut down for a minimum of 6 to 12 months. This bill will affect Domestic Violence Shelters, Sexual Assault Programs, Human Trafficking Programs, Child Advocacy Centers, District Attorneys' Victim Services (attorneys and advocates), Law Enforcement Domestic Violence Units, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, The ARC (persons with disabilities), Child Abuse Programs and Survivors of Homicide Programs. In addition, this will also cause job loss and shelters to shut-down. This bill must be stopped to allow enough time for the community, service providers and survivors of violent crimes to become educated about this bill and exercise their voice to the Senate.

  • Eliminate Government Pension Offset
I am affected by this. I have several medical conditions that require lots of care, expensive drugs, and medical supplies. I don't know how I will manage without my husband's Social Security. My health insurance will double since I have the plan through his ex-employer.

  • Save the City of Saline Police Dispatch
    • City of Saline appointed and elected officials are considering outsourcing police dispatch operations to an agency outside of the City of Saline between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am. • We believe that this will reduce the quality and timeliness of service to the residents of Saline. • The Saline Police Department Dispatch is an integral part of law enforcement efforts to maintain low crime levels in the city with officer safety and the city community as being the first priority. • Our local dispatchers are not only familiar with current investigative efforts, city streets and businesses; they are acquainted with community members, the organizational structure of the city, call history of local residences and businesses and know the officers. • Losing dispatch would further erode what makes Saline a community, similar to the loss of our community hospital. • We also feel this effort is the beginning of an attempt to completely eliminate dispatch operations as was attempted in 2011.

  • Kentucky Phlebotomy Registration
There is too much incompetence in the field of phlebotomy. There is currently no rules governing the practice of phlebotomy in this state. Currently the only requirement is to complete a program that takes, in some cases, less than 6 weeks and no laws governing those who complete it. At present, even a CNA is required to take a state skills exam and be held to a higher level of standards and they perform no invasive procedures. Phlebotomy is a skill that is invasive in itself and those that practice the skill should be held to a uniform standard throughout the state

  • Protect the Historic A&P Warehouse at 67 Vestry St. in Tribeca
Hello, Please sign our petition to urge New York City Landmark's Preservation Commission to protect the handsome A&P Warehouse at 67 Vestry Street in Tribeca. This warehouse is the last visual remnant of the story of the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, a company founded in the now-demolished Washington Market. Other A&P warehouses that are younger and less historically significant are National Landmarks. Shouldn't this one be landmarked as well? Sincerely, Tribeca Trust and the residents of 67 Vestry

  • Signature needed: One clever thing can reverse all food stamp cuts in Massachusetts
When Congress slashed food stamps in February, 850,000 low-income families in 16 states plus D.C. stood to lose $90 of food assistance per month. But in a twist befitting the movies, there is still a way we can wipe out those cuts entirely. It's tricky to explain, but the bottom line is this: if a state were to increase its minimum monthly heating assistance benefit to $20 without kicking anyone out of the program, then no one in that state would face food stamp cuts. Three of the 16 states—New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania—have already done this. Executive orders by Govs. Andrew Cuomo, Dan Malloy and Tom Corbett increased the minimum heating assistance in their states to $20 a month, thereby preventing any food stamp cuts from taking place. Every state—including Massachusetts—facing cuts can do this. Sign the petition demanding that Gov. Deval Patrick increase heating assistance to low-income families as a means of restoring their food stamp benefits.
