• More Weekend Shuttles
If you pick the weekend shuttle up at W-lot it will take you a whole 30 mins to get to campus, 5 times longer than it would during the week. That's an entire How I Met your Mother episode, with commercials! We want a weekend shuttle that will get you to where you want to go quickly and efficiently so you can spend your weekend how it was meant to be spent. Watching Netflix.

  • Fund the Gateway Arts District
Funding from Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is critical to the infrastructure and community program operations for the smaller and older municipalities within the Gateway Arts District. As a stakeholder in the community, I would like to stress how dire this funding is for our communities. We work, live and invest in these communities. Towns like North Brentwood and Brentwood need this funding. Organizations like the Gateway CDC, Joe’s Movement Emporium, Art Works Now, the Prince George’s African American Museum and Cultural Center, the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council are partners in revitalizing and driving economic growth along U.S. Route 1 – county support is critical in ensuring the success and stability of these organizations and communities in the Gateway Arts District.

  • Stop a Urban Sports Complex from developing over Ancient Native American sites and Natural Open S...
As a parent I value this space because it offers my children the much needed breath of fresh air and natural exposure within the city we are bound. Fairview Park, as it exits now, invites the visitor to reflect upon the Native Americans who lived there for thousands of years, as is reflected in various sites nationally recognized as archaeologically significant. Frankly speaking there is NO place that offers the oppurtunities that exist in Fairview Park.

  • Indiana Borough Council: Approve Indiana's Farmers' Market Move to IRMC Park
The Indiana Farmers' Market has run out of space in its Wednesday evening location in the S&T Bank parking lot. It would like to move to Downtown Indiana's IRMC Park on Wednesday evenings. Since it's had to turn away vendors due to its limited space, the market may be forced to seek alternative locations outside the Borough if Council doesn't approve the use of IRMC Park.

  • State of Michigan Lacks funds for Adult Protective Services
Only .4% of the Department of Health and Human Services budget goes to the Adult Protective Services Department. In January there was 3000 cases and only 112 APS agents in the entire state of Michigan. A member of my family had a large part of her savings stolen due to telephone fraud and exploitation. Several of her elderly neighbors have been neglected or abused by family members and caretakers. We want abuse, exploitation, and neglect investigated and eliminated for this vulnerable adult population. Help the governor and state legislature see that we care what is happening to our elderly. More money needs to be invested into this population. Please don't hesitate sign our petition today your future depends on it.

  • Minnesota Child Support Law
The state of Minnesota receives federal incentives for every dollar they collect in child support. The middle class parent is stuck paying the bill. The lower income parent does not pay a significant amount of child support for the state to invest in enforcement, and the high income parents have the ability to fight the laws in court. There are three tiers used to determine the amount of child support (tier I 0% to 10%, tier II 10.1% to 45%, and tier III 45.1% and above). A non custodial parent who is with his child 45% of the month will pay the same amount as a parent that sees his child 10% (granted that the income is the same, etc.) Unless the custodial parent agrees to a high percentage of parenting time, the non custodial parent will need to prove child endangerment in order have the child support lowered. The middle class non custodial parent pays a significant amount in child support and usually is unable to afford the legal fees associated with the court system. There needs to be more tiers for non custodial parents allowing for a fairer child support determination.

  • Tell Illinois mayor: Let church reopen its doors to the homeless
All winter, the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Rockford has opened its doors to the homeless whenever overnight temperatures fell below freezing. On most nights, nearly 50 people would seek life-saving refuge from the bitter cold. The church is acting on their beliefs -- namely, that Christians have an obligation to care for those who are cold, hungry, outcast, and excluded. But last Wednesday, the city of Rockford cited the church for code and zoning violations and demanded that they cease sheltering people at night. According to the church's pastor, the city warned them that it would be illegal for the church to continue opening their doors to the homeless. City officials have a rightful responsibility to protect the public from harm, but in this case, they're doing more harm than good. Most seeking shelter in the church have no other options during dangerously cold nights. Barring the church from welcoming these people could cost lives. Let's show the mayor that thousands of people from all over the country are standing with this church!

  • Mandated, enforced 25 mph speed limit on Damen, with stop signs at each cross street.
On Friday, March 21, our dog slid through a crack in our fence revealed by melting snow, leading to her wandering out onto Damen Avenue in front of our three-flat. A Good Samaritan saw this, and started to stop traffic to get her out of the street. A speeding SUV ran over the dog, killing her, and nearly ran over the good person that was trying to help. The situation is unfortunate, and I don't expect restitution for our loss. However, here is what terrifies me: the driver of the speeding SUV never hit their brakes, never slowed, never stopped. Further, not a soul has stopped for me as a pedestrian in a crosswalk when I am out running or walking, and I've also narrowly missed being hit, both during the day and after dark. The speed limit (or lack thereof), lack of enforcement, lack of traffic management signs (stop signs), or a combination of these has led to this stretch of Damen between Belmont and Diversey to become exceeding dangerous. This stretch borders Hamlin Park, where people bring their children and pets to play. What's next, a child running after a baseball? Human lives are at risk, as well as pet safety. An appropriate speed limit must be enforced on this stretch of road, with new stop signs installed to encourage slower speeds as well. The red light cameras at the six corners of Damen/Diversey/Clybourn are simply not enough to keep this residential street safe. Many other residents have expressed the same concern, leading to this petition.
