• Keep the internet equal for all!
I am the Public Information Officer for our Volunteer Fire Department, and we are very pro-active using social media not only to inform the public of everyday events but also when we know if serious weather is imminent to our area, routes to avoid during emergencies and Amber Alerts. This is done using my own personal Internet provider. This could be detrimental and could possibly cost lives!

  • Renewal Realty: Keep The COVE in Knox Gates!
The COVE (Community Organized with a Vision of Excellence) is a Media Arts & Literacy Program for at-risk teens in an under-resourced area in the Norwood section of the Bronx. For 25 years The COVE has offered neighborhood teens a safe space off the streets, media arts and literacy development, job and college preparation, homework help, educational trips, recreation, life skills, and positive relationships with peers and mentoring adults. Help them remain in their neighborhood! Please sign this petition and tell your friends and family - The COVE needs 2,000 signatures! HISTORY The Knox Gates Neighborhood Association (KGNA), a grassroots community organization of area residents, was organized in 1977 to target the drug trafficking, violence, and neglect that was pushing the community towards deterioration and despair. In 1988, with additional help from foundations and local institutions, a group of teens and neighbors rehabilitated a donated neighborhood basement and initiated their youth after-school and summer programs. Since 2010, KGNA/The COVE has collaborated with CTM Dreams to offer an excellent Media Arts & Literacy Program. The Board and staff of The COVE have gained skills and invaluable experience on how to design, staff, promote and deliver a meaningful and fun filled, neighborhood based youth program. Today, nearly 25 years stronger, The COVE continues their role as a trusted and consistent presence for young people in our community. MISSION The Knox Gates Neighborhood Association (KGNA) believes in the power of community. Together the neighborhood youth, adults, and elders have organized to create The COVE, a safe space that provides neighborhood teens with after-school and summer programs. The COVE Media Arts & Literacy Program offers the neighborhood teens college and career readiness and a place to learn self-reliance, respect for others, and the skills to live full, cooperative, and productive lives. • Seattle's getting $15/hr, we deserve it too
For a year and a half, fast food employees and other low-wage workers across the country have been organizing and striking for $15 an hour and the right to form a union without retaliation. Now, the city of Seattle has just announced a landmark agreement to raise the minimum wage to $15. Seattle's wage raise will pump $500 million back into their economy without raising taxes. Large employers paying the lowest wages are subsidized by our taxes when their low-paid employees are forced to use public programs like welfare just to get by. This is a huge victory for workers, but it's only the beginning of a wave that will sweep across the country. Republicans in the Senate just blocked an increase in the federal minimum wage--but cities like Seattle are showing that progress is made locally. Who's next? Raising our minimum wage to $15 will provide a dramatic boost for hundreds of thousands of working families and local economies.

  • For Allie and all of those left unheard here in Tucson
This petition is being set forth to give Alexandria Dawn Cromwell, also known as "Allie", a fighting chance at life. Too many lives, have been ripped to shreds, and too many (parents, children, families), shiver or have shivered at the very sound of the word CPS here, in Tucson, Arizona, when we should have never feared CPS. Give these children a fighting chance to make a better society for all. Don't allow any child, without Just reason, to become another statistic, CPS covered up mistake, and or a financial gain for Cps (or for anyone else either). The removal of this child and many others have been overlooked and have "slipped through the cracks" due to "high case loads", and whatever new inadequate excuse CPS manages to come up with next or has came up with in the past. No more lies. I am asking that Alexandra Dawn Cromwell immediately be removed from CPS custody and placed back into My, Thea Marie Cromwell, custody, without any further precious time is wasted. She needs her mother her sister and all of her family. She is better off with me. Me and my family were lied to, bullied, taken advantage of Allie has not been protected, instead she was removed from my custody and has been unprotected by even her lawyer. Let me give my children the life they deserve and the life I see fit for them. I am capable. Allow us the ability to put our family back together As Well as a chance for Allie To have hope once again. Please sign if, you believe Alexandra Cromwell should immediately be placed back into the custody of her mother Thea Marie Cromwell, if you and or your family, here in Tucson, Arizona or anywhere else, have fallen victim to CPS neglect, or have witnessed CPS' failure, to provide sufficient reasoning, as to why a child or children, were or will soon be, removed from the custody of a suitable, willing, and capable parent, or guardian. Stand up for your rights, stand up for Alexandria.

  • Keep Our Market and Precinct Open
We here in the South Hull District and the surrounding neighborhoods need a source of fresh produce, a gathering place for meetings, and quick MPD response when we call. The neighborhoods that surround us and that are also serviced by the Market have a greater problem with crime and their folks often eat unhealthily because of poverty, ignorance, and a shortage of fresh food. The Market is also an anchor in a sea of changing retail and rental properties.

  • Support a dog park on FMB (not on the actual beach)
I would like to see how many people support the idea of a dog park on FMB. The location, design, etc. is to be determined. This is merely to find out how many people support the idea. I believe it is one important facet that our Town is missing. An off leash fenced in grassy dog park with foliage creates a beautiful space for dogs and satisfies the needs of dog owners and non-dog owners alike. Please forward this on to other FMB residents.

  • Gary Downing for Congress
Social Security and Medicare are benefits that our seniors have earned through decades of hard work. Yet for years, Republicans, Tea Party and Libertarians have tried to privatize Social Security and turn Medicare into a voucher system. Democratic Candidate Gary Downing has vowed to protect Social Security and Medicare from these threats and support 87% of voters that want to strengthen Social Security and Medicare. And I’m standing with Gary Downing. Stop threatening to undermine Social Security and Medicare now.

  • Governor Cuomo: Rework the Terminus of the New TZ Bridge’s Shared Use Path
The new Tappan Zee Bridge is more than simply a replacement structure for vehicles. The pedestrian/cycling path with its scenic overlooks is like a pedestrian park that will attract large numbers of visitors to Westchester and Rockland counties. To accommodate the swell of visitors, the state plans to build a café, restrooms and parking for 135 cars on Thruway Authority property in Tarrytown. On the Rockland side of the bridge, however, there is no adequate plan to accommodate the large numbers of visitors. The path will abruptly dump users onto a dangerous intersection at a Thruway entrance ramp in the Village of South Nyack. In an attempt to mitigate this problem, local authorities proposed demolishing South Nyack's village hall and replacing it with a 20+ space parking lot. This plan was soundly rejected by most who saw it as unsafe and grossly inadequate. Since then, village leaders have backed away from that plan. This is the largest highway and bridge project in North America today. We urge you and the TZ team to expand the parameters of the project to provide safe and well-designed accommodations that work for visitors and for the Village of South Nyack.

  • Mosquito Management Needed in Stapleton
Male mosquitos are already swarming the neighborhood, which doesn't bode well for the summer months. Last summer it became excruciatingly clear that there is a need for mosquito population control in Stapleton's parks, open space and water retention areas. This is not only an issue of comfort, but also of protecting the health of our residents. The purpose of this petition is not to prescribe which measures are appropriate (spraying, adding fish to the ecosystems, etc.), but to draw attention to the need for an immediate and long-term solution.
