• Continued Health Coverage for Retired State and County Employees (65+)
With the coverage of other certain parties being allowed we feel that the retirees should be offered the same privileges and the state retirees being that they get benefits for life. The county employees meanwhile lose their benefits at age 65. While the families and the other certain parties just added by congress and state making it legal for them to be counted as family qualify for full benefits as married partners etc. So at least count us as the same as State employees and allow us to draw insurance benefits for lifetime or at a family rate.Hard to live on widows pension.Paid into same system. Their family draws benefits for life so should the paying retirees of county who paid.

  • Stop Republican Wordsmithing "Enitlements"
The misleading use of the term "Entitlements" which suggests expectations without any responsibility on the part of the recipient. It has encouraged the attempts to cut Social Security Benefits by the Republicans and now President Obama.

  • Open Rt 66 "Controlled Lanes" in NOVA
A couple of years ago Fairfax County Government created "Controlled Lanes" that are open at rush hour and closed all other times. Everyday I sit in heavy or gridlock traffic during off peak times and see those controlled lanes closed when could be open easing the flow of traffic, why are they closed?? REVENUE! So cops can write us tickets. We as tax paying citizens paid for those roads and should have the final say on how we would like to use them! If you are sick of seeing those controlled lanes closed and creating heavy traffic help by signing this petition and get them open!

  • Help fight the Injustice of the William Bradley Amendment
I want to repeal the William Bradley Amendment and have Congress enact a law that will be fair and stay within the boundaries of the U.S. Constitution. As the existing child support law stands, there is no relief or solution to resolving the financial burden. I believe both parents should be held liable for raising their children not the burden on the one parent. We need to work together to improve family equality not destroy it.

  • Stop the sale of our Historic Post Offices and their uniquely American New Deal art.
Post Office buildings are being sold nationally. Hundreds of these are listed on, or are eligible for, the National Historic Registry. Also many of these include priceless New Deal artwork including murals painted on the walls, around windows and doors. There is no guarantee these buildings will remain part of the public domain yet taxpayers paid for them and their art. These Post Office buildings were meant to provide democratic spaces where the public would enjoy art - even in the most remote towns and villages. They must remain in the public domain and should not be sold! For more information visit the websites: Save the Post Office and National Post Office Collaborate

  • Mayor Pavia: Help save a life
By adding a more prominent and noticeable pedestrian walk sign at the intersection of Cove Road and Euclid Street. Current signage is in dull yellow and red writing. A brighter neon yellow/green sign as seen elsewhere in the city will make it more visible to drivers. I also propose putting a sign in the middle of the crosswalk for those who do not look to the sides of the road and simply always staring straight. We have a problem. Drivers do not stop at the crosswalk where the current sign is placed. It is also hidden by large vehicles parked along the road prior to the crosswalk. When coming up from the beach, you do not notice the sign until the very last minute at the top. At times, vehicles are traveling up the hill at over 50-75 mph as well as heading down to the beach at the same rate. I've witnessed a mother with a baby stroller almost lose their lives in the crosswalk. I walk my dog down to the beach each day and no day is better than another. It's a major issue and I believe a change is due. Why continue to put our citizens lives at risk? Let's get that sign changed before it's too late! I propose that or even a stop sign might work! People should not have to walk in fear of a specific intersection, let us make it a safe traveling point. Sign this petition and save a life today! Thank you all for your signatures and God bless.
