• SB101 to H25 Offramp
During the early evening commute hours, traffic backs up, sometimes as far as Castro Valley Rd. (The Gavilian College Exit.) This backup most likely results from people stopping at the top of the offramp to let others get onto the SB101 onramp. This "courteous" gesture places those exiting SB101 in grave danger. Most people traveling down 101 are not aware they're approaching stopped cars at the speed limit or better. Commuters desperately need Caltrans to take action.

  • Hawaii Needs Drivers License Translations!
My name is Veronica and I am from the Marshall Islands. I was a teacher in the Marshall Islands for four years and I have been to college in the Marshall Islands and in the US. Even though I speak good English and I am a very good driver, immigrants like me need the drivers test in more languages. Hawaii's written drivers test translation policy is currently under review. Please use this petition to let your voice be heard on this important issue.

  • Rep. DeLauro: Pledge to Vote Against Social Security Cuts
Reps. Alan Grayson and Mark Takano have been asking members of Congress to pledge to vote against any proposal to cancel the sequester that involves cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits. Over 40 members have signed the letter or made their own pledges. Rep. DeLauro says that she opposes President Obama's proposal to switch to the chained CPI to calculate cost of living adjustments to Social Security benefits—which would effectively cut benefits—but she has yet to pledge to vote against it. We think she ought to join the club. More on the Grayson-Takano letter: http://act.boldprogressives.org/survey/survey_ss_grayson/#fullletter

  • SAVE SOCIAL SECURITY
While Social Security is not currently in trouble, in several years it could become so. I believe it is necessary to make some changes that will secure the system for many years to come. I have seen suggestions that merely raise the Cap which would be a good solution, but I think we can make it even better by lowering the overall rate AND raising the cap thereby increasing the solvency of the program for a much longer time as well as increasing a benefit to the economy.

  • Make the cost of child support equal.
I have 3 children and chose to continue my education, making more money than my ex husband. He has since had 5 other children and cannot keep a job. I have been 6 months with no child support and when he did pay, it was set at $59.00 a week with me carrying all health insurance and the first $798.00 annually out of pocket per child. How fair is this? It should be 50/50.

  • SAVE SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE
I think it's wrong for President Obama to include Social Security and Medicare in the Budget as a measure of either saving the programs for future participants or as a means to help balance the budget. It is a known fact that Social Security will not go bankrupt until 2033 or beyond. Because the President has expressed a williness to cut these programs, a floor has been cut out from the Democracts to use this issue against the Republicans who want to forever delete these programs.

There have been two accidents, one resulting in a death, along Payne Road over the past two years. This is one death too many. A system must be put into place that can guarantee safety for bike riders in this area.

  • Social Security?
Of course, anybody that has worked many years want to receive full benefits they are entitled to. Money was literally borrowed from the Social Security pot years ago by one President of the USA, and to my knowledge, that money has never been returned! It should be AGAINST the Law for lawmakers to even CONSIDER cutting those benefits at all!
