CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE FUNDING FROM THE STATE OF ARIZONA FOR WORKING FAMILIESI am a single mother of 2 young children, a boy who is 9 and a girl who is 3. I work full time and go to school full time as well. Childcare is $150 per week per child and even by making $15 per hour I am struggling to make ends meet. I receive assistance from the state of Arizona for food and medical, but cannot receive childcare assistance because I am do not receive cash assistance and in order to receive cash assistance you must be unemployed. I know I am not alone and am starting this petition to ask the State of Arizona to help working families who have younger children with childcare assistance funding. I am not asking for them to pay all of the childcare expenses for each family, but a portion based on income (like they do in Washington State). Other states and countries provide assistance, especially when the parent or parents are working full time and in school and the State of Arizona should as well.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kathleen Pedroza

Widow's benefit is unfairWhen my husband died, I was barely age 60. The bills continued at 100% but the widow's Social Security benefit was only 60%. Widows at age 60 should receive 100% of their spouse's Social Security so they do not fall on hard times.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Shirley Harrington-Moore

Leave Our Social Security Alone!I am about to retire and do not understand why Social Security, a self-supporting fund, is on the chopping block. It does not cost the US Government one cent and statistically, is sound for 20 more years.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tim Essebaggers

Social Security cost-of-living increase. The government wants to maneuver the Social Security monies by not granting the Cost-of-Living increases that are due. This money was earned during peoples' entire working careers and it should be of benefit, just like all other entities.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kris

Stop red light cameras and the huge violation chargeMost of the money from red light cameras go to the camera companies. Yet another private company should not be getting rich off of the poor. At $100 a ticket this regressive tax should not be happening. We should find other ways to make money for our cities instead of forcing people to choose sometimes between a need and a ticket.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kaidrea

SB101 to H25 OfframpDuring the early evening commute hours, traffic backs up, sometimes as far as Castro Valley Rd. (The Gavilian College Exit.) This backup most likely results from people stopping at the top of the offramp to let others get onto the SB101 onramp. This "courteous" gesture places those exiting SB101 in grave danger. Most people traveling down 101 are not aware they're approaching stopped cars at the speed limit or better. Commuters desperately need Caltrans to take action.157 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Cispa Thrasher

Hawaii Needs Drivers License Translations! My name is Veronica and I am from the Marshall Islands. I was a teacher in the Marshall Islands for four years and I have been to college in the Marshall Islands and in the US. Even though I speak good English and I am a very good driver, immigrants like me need the drivers test in more languages. Hawaii's written drivers test translation policy is currently under review. Please use this petition to let your voice be heard on this important issue.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Veronica Teico

Rep. DeLauro: Pledge to Vote Against Social Security CutsReps. Alan Grayson and Mark Takano have been asking members of Congress to pledge to vote against any proposal to cancel the sequester that involves cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits. Over 40 members have signed the letter or made their own pledges. Rep. DeLauro says that she opposes President Obama's proposal to switch to the chained CPI to calculate cost of living adjustments to Social Security benefits—which would effectively cut benefits—but she has yet to pledge to vote against it. We think she ought to join the club. More on the Grayson-Takano letter: http://act.boldprogressives.org/survey/survey_ss_grayson/#fullletter128 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Megan Iorio
