Reject Chained CPIPresident Obama has officially included Chained CPI (Consumer Price Index) in his budget. This represents a direct cut to Social Security benefits. Social Security benefits should go up not down.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Shippey

Say "no" to cost of living cuts for Social Security.President Obama proposes a change to the way cost of living increases are calculated for current and future senior citizens. Senior citizens are those 62 years of age and older. As a certified elder law attorney, I have advised over 7,000 senior citizens who rely on Social Security for 40% of their income. The proposed "chained CPI" would substantially decrease cost of living increases creating a hardship for these middle class seniors who faithfully paid into the system throughout their working lifetimes. This punitive idea will create a hardship for these senior Americans and should be rejected.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Geraldine E. Champion

Looting of the Social Security "Trust" FundThe Social Security trust fund has been decreasing not because there are fewer workers for each retiree, but due to the fact that the money current retirees paid into the system was used for government projects. What happened to the "in trust" part of the equation, and the lock box where the money was to be kept away from wasteful spending by presidents and congress people over decades.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by L. Stop the proposed cuts to Social SecurityI receive Social Security monthly! The amount of social security that I receive, is not enough now, to cover my expenses and food for the month. Lowering social security would be a disaster for me and all the elders that rely on it to live day to day. Medicines alone are a big expense every month! It should be increased, because of the cost of living increases constantly!3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mary Klim

STOP MESSING WITH SOCIAL SECURITYMy mother lives on a fixed income and part of that is social security. My siblings and I assist her when we are able; however, due to the rising taxes on EVERY THING as well as the rising COSTS of FUEL, GROCERIES, ETC. we cannot do as much. We all paid into social security; therefore, it is NOT an entitlement. Where did the money go that the government borrowed from Social Security before? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. PLEASE SOCIAL SECURITY ALONGE.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dorothy Rose

Social Security CutsSocial Security benefits have been paid for by contributions of millions of seniors over their lifetime. We depend on their meager distributions to survive, in a country whose government has exploited this fund, and continues to betray it's constituents.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William Ogorzalek

Karen Bass do the right thing re. our social securitySocial Security is not YOURS to play around with. We the seniors of this country have worked all of our lives to have the comfort and security of a monthly check. We deserve to have all that we PAID for and with out our So Called leaders trying to claim it. Our survival is of up most importance to us and we demand what is rightfully ours. Our struggle is arduous, we are constantly trying to make a dollar out of .15 cents. I wish all of the people who make these rules were mandated to live for one year under our circumstances paying $1,000. or more for rent or mortgage and only receiving only $800.per month and being told there are NO cost of living raises in the making, Gas is $5.00 a gallon food is sky high, utilities are soaring and the beat goes on.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bettye Jones

Do Not Cut Social SecurityPresident Obama has proposed cutting Social Security by lowering cost-of-living adjustments for current and future retirees. These cuts, sometimes called "chained CPI," will hurt seniors who have paid into the system for their whole lives and are already struggling with rising health care costs.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rhiannon Burk
