Do Not Cut Social SecurityThis is about President Obama's proposal to change the way cost of living increases are calculated for retirees and veterans on Social Security. As a concern citizen, the proposed "chained CPI" would be a significant cut to senior citizens and disable veterans who are on a fix income. This terrible idea should be rejected.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Naim Fennell

Stop Cuts in Social Security COLAsThe federal government is considering changing the COLA for Social Security recipients. My parents and millions of others continued in their middle class lives after retirement because of the way COLAs were tied to the Consumer Price Index in the 1970's, so that they would not lose their buying power due to inflation. In the 1980's our payroll taxes were doubled to pay for future benefits. Because of the last 5 years, retirees/potential retirees are much worse off than previous retirees and now is NOT the time to cut back earned Social Security benefits for seniors.243 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Diana Lofing

Do not cut Social SecurityAs a senior citizen who has paid into the system for years, I have factored this entitlement into my daily allowance. Please stop targeting the seniors... Tax the working class, please. Some day, they too will be seniors.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Syl

Stop the Cuts to Social Security!Every dime that goes to a Senior Citizen circulates throughout the economy. Tax cuts to wealthy Americans who don't work for a living do absolutely nothing get us out of the hole we're in.118 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Mary Clare Curtis

Please, don't reduce the money we have put in for retirementWe reduced OUR OWN employee contribution and called it a tax reduction, and now continue the lies that there is not enough money in the fund, then don't underfund it in the name of tax break for middle class. Also removing the limit from$80k and continuing the payment on upper incomes, would secure it for ever.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Saveourfuture

Don't Chain Social SecuritySwitching Social Security computations from regular CPI to Chained CPI will harm US seniors without having a significant effect in reducing the USA's budget deficits.468 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Ronni Graff

Say "No" to Social Security CutsSocial Security is not the right place to address the deficit. Tell the President and your fellow members of Congress to decline any and all cuts in Social Security including the way cost of living increases for retirees are calculated. As a person dependent on Social Security, the proposed "chained CPI" would decrease cost of living increases for me and my fellow retirees causing a hardship, especially with the rising cost in health care.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michele Vickery

stop cutting SSWe elected you President Obama because (among other issues) you promised not to mess with Social Security and Medicare. Please leave these programs as they are now. You cannot use Social Security money to pay down the deficit. That money belong to the working folk who is expecting this money to live off of when they retire or become disabled (heaven forbid). Leave our money alone and keep your promises.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John R Sickler

Say NO to chained CPI!My mother and husband are currently on Social Security, and I'm getting ready to start drawing my military retirement from the Army Reserves. So much of what we were promised we'd get if we put in our 20 has been taken away. Haven't they taken enough?3,348 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Catherine Argyle
