• Tell President Obama -- NO Social Security Cuts!
We've been paying into Social Security our entire lives -- with the promise that we'd have a certain amount of income we could rely upon at retirement. You're not just breaking a Promise. You're breaking the promises of Presidents and Congresses over the past nearly 8 decades. That's a life-span of Social Security lasting 1/3 of our nation's history.

  • Do Not Cut Social Security Benefits
Cutting Social Security Benefits for current and future retirees while they are already struggling with rising health care costs as well as the cost of living erases the "American dream". My husband worked in a cabinet company for 48 years, struggling to raise a family he paid into the system his whole life and even now we can hardly make ends meet. We own our home and vehicles so we don't qualify for assistance, so if our income is chopped any deeper we won't be able to hang onto our own American Dream.

  • DO NOT CUT SOCIAL SECURITY
Medical and prescription costs continue to rise. Cutting senior's small monthly Social Security, will only increase the poverty level in this Country that will cause an increase in welfare benefits.

  • Rep. Yarmuth: Please Oppose Cuts to Social Security
Two-thirds of seniors rely on Social Security for more than half of their income, as do 3.2 million disabled veterans and 350,000 children and surviving spouses. The President's proposed cuts to Social Security through "chained CPI" will have a drastic effect on these groups, no less since a greater-than-average amount of their spending goes to health care, costs for which are outpacing even normal inflation measures. There are more logical and less painful ways of reforming Social Security, such as raising the cap on income subject to the payroll tax. What we should NOT do is hide behind deficit fear-mongering to make cuts to this immensely popular program, especially since Social Security hasn't added a single penny to the deficit. Please join me in encouraging Representative Yarmuth to oppose chained CPI and any other cuts to Social Security, and to support more common-sense reforms instead.

  • Don't Cut Social Security Benefits
I was injured in combat in 2008 while fighting to bring democracy to Iraq, and I collect Social Security benefits - benefits that are now on the chopping block at the hands of our government leaders, unless you vow to stop them. Now, one of my only sources of income, along with millions of seniors, veterans, and other Americans is in danger of being infringed upon, at the expense of massive government overspending. The Federal Government owed 2.7 Trillion at the end of the fiscal year to Social Security. Now the government can't pay the debt owed, so they are telling seniors, wounded warriors, retirees, and other Americans collecting Social Security that they just may have to pay up, easily effecting the approximately 55 million Americans who collect Social Security.

  • Rep. Joseph Crowley: Will you stand with us to oppose President Obama's cuts to Social Security?
There should be no cuts to Social Security, Which means that President Obama's proposed budget should not even be putting these on the table for discussion. We need to get local, like-minded members of Congress to stand against this now.

  • Stop Cutting Our Social Security Benefits
Cutting Social Security benefits does nothing to help the people of the United States. Tell President Obama and your fellow members of Congress you do not support, and they should not support, cuts in Social Security.

  • No Cuts To Our Social Security Benefits
If the Chained CPI is enacted, that will hurt all seniors on Social Security right now, and it will continue to hurt others just beginning their benefits. We have to stop President Obama from using our benefits as a bargaining tool--something he said he wouldn't do.
