Republicans made a pledge to Grover Norquist to never raise taxes and are holding the country hostage. They want to raise the age for medicare to 67! As baby boomers, let's pledge to never vote republican again if they make any changes to medicare or social security.

S.2010, the Social Security Fairness Act, will repeal the Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provision (GPO/WEP). The GPO/WEP unfairly reduces the retirement benefits earned by public employees such as police officers, teachers, and firefighters. Public employees, like myself, are now suffering from lower benefits because of the unfair GPO/WEP provision.

People on Staten Island displaced due to Superstorm Sandy have lost their homes and many still await FEMA trailers. Meanwhile, a lot of potential housing away from the flood zone goes unused due to underwater mortgages, legal issues, etc. My petition is to ask the government to take over such properties by means of eminent domain, rehabilitate them as necessary, and use them to house people who need new homes due to the storm. The issue is now so massive it goes beyond economics and affects the social order.

This petition calls on all organizations involved in the Salem-Keizer Area Transportation Study (SKATS, the metropolitan planning organization for the Mid-Willamette Valley) to discontinue the planning process (already $5.5 million over-budget and 4 years behind schedule) that is trying to come up with a rationale for building an unnecessary 3rd Bridge over the Willamette, a dinosaur of a project that reflects 1950s thinking and would be the most expensive public project in Salem history and would destroy Wallace Marine Park. Don't let "Bridgasaurus Boondogglus" stomp all over Salem for the next 30 years! The recent election was a clear mandate of the people: We voted to end tax cuts for the top 2% and to demand that there will be no cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security,.vital programs for the middle class and working people, children, and seniors, We are backing our Senators Feinstein and Boxer and President Obama to not give one inch on these vital programs and telling our Representative John Campbell to support the mandate of his constituents, the 98% that he represents over the interests of the wealthy 2%.

My husband, Joe, is totally disabled by Multiple Sclerosis, but would lose his SSI if I went to work. Though I would like to work, without his SSI, at age 59, I could not make enough to support us. The disabled who marry should be entitled to thier SSI checks regardless of whether a spouse works or not.

I am a survivor of domestic violence. Interval House helped me get back on my feet. They need more money to continue to help and fight domestic violence!

The elderly have contributed to social security during their working years. Telling them they have to take a reduction for something that is supposed to be there for them would be a real slap in the face to the elderly. Furthermore, the elderly barely get enough medical coverage as it is and any kind of reduction is totally unacceptable.

The middle class, the hardest hit during this recession, is fighting for survival. We cannot, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, allow our elected officials to take away benefits for Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. Yes my family as well as alot of poor families can not afford to pay rent

For over a decade our community has been affected by severe flooding. During every high tide and full moon cycle we get at least a foot of water in our streets and yards. It is so bad that we have constructed our own barriers to put in front of our homes to prevent water from entering. We were promised a flood wall was going to be built in our area back in 2000 by Congressman Pallone, and nothing has been done to date. We need to get this project completed before the next Sandy!
