• Give The Dumas Back! Right Urban Renewal Wrongs In Roanoke
This is a petition sponsored by The Dumas Hotel Legacy, Inc. (representing more than 400 citizens/donors/members as part of their efforts to purchase the historic Dumas Hotel). This petition is an opportunity for the larger Roanoke community to demonstrate their support for our efforts. This petition also underscores the critical importance of this sacred property, community ownership, and control of its future. This is a great opportunity for Roanoke to make restitution for its urban renewal policies that led to millions of dollars in property and resources being taken from the black community for generations. It a chance for real RECONCILIATION.

  • Transparency in Indiana Government - Nickel Plate Railroad
On February 28, 2017, Fishers, Noblesville, and Hamilton County announced their surprise decision to convert the Historic Nickel Plate railroad to a trail. This decision came without public input, involvement, or oversight and will be detrimental to the future economic development potential of a corridor that is capable of hosting both rails AND trails. Since that time, more than 11,000 citizens have demanded better government process to explain the project, consider alternatives, and invite the public to participate in a meaningful way. ELECTED OFFICIALS HAVE PRESSED FORWARD WITH NO INDICATION OF LISTENING TO A MAJORITY OF THEIR RESIDENTS. By signing this petition: - I signify my support of the recent legal action by Save the Nickel Plate, Inc. for alleged violations of the Open Door Laws by Fishers, Noblesville, and Hamilton County when making decisions regarding the Nickel Plate railroad. - I believe this legal action will help to protect the public's interest in participating in critical government decisions. - I believe that the public HAS NOT been afforded adequate (if any) opportunity to participate in the planning and decision making process of the Nickel Plate railroad - it appears to have all been decided behind closed doors. - I PERSONALLY COMMIT TO SUPPORT OR CAST MY VOTE FOR CANDIDATES WHO I BELIEVE WILL PROVIDE MORE TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY IN OUR GOVERNMENT.

  • There's Zero Vision on 34th and Benning Road!
Traffic deaths in Washington, DC have increased every year since 2015, when Mayor Muriel Bowser announced her Vision Zero initiative to accomplish zero traffic fatalities by 2024. The conditions at 34th and Benning Road NE are consistently and visibly dangerous. As a teenager, my mother was struck at this same intersection. With the clear display of inequality in access, development, and quality shopping options for residents East of the River, it is our government's responsibility to provide safe roads. View footage of the intersection at: https://youtu.be/P-myA7fHfZ4

  • Safe Neighborhoods, help homeless, San Fernando Valley
The number of Homeless people on the streets of Los Angeles has gone down in the last year, but have increased in the San Fernando Valley (https://bit.ly/2N5rVA2). This increase in under-resourced people needs to be addressed. There are people who genuinely need assistance, as well as a large number of people who suffer from mental illness, substance abuse or are legitimately dangerous. I have seen people shooting up in daylight at the gas station on Mason and Devonshire, a man high on meth recently scaled our backyard fence and tried to enter our home while my husband played with our children. A man attempted to crawl through my cousin's window into the bedroom of her home while she and my nephew were sleeping. If we do not take action and do something now, we are headed down a path of extreme crisis (like San Francisco https://bit.ly/2N5rVA2). There are daily reports in our neighborhood Patch pages of needles found in parks, human feces in public play areas, as well as humans living in the worst conditions in unprotected outdoor spaces. Please sign this petition, encouraging representatives of districts 2, 3, 6, 7 and 12—Mitch Englander, Bob Blumenfield, Monica Rodriguez, Nury Martinez, Paul Krekorian to open dialogue with the community and create a plan to take action.

  • Bond Measure Support for El Sobrante Urban Park & Restoration
The bond measure helps create an urban park for community activities and events. The plan includes a Cafe in a restored old Arco station along San Pablo Dam Road to help fund maintenance and adds security, a gardener, a fence containing two locking gates, an elevated boardwalk to prevent direct access to the creek and protect a restored habitat and improved water quality. This property provides the only point of connection for the public from the road to a future boardwalk along the creek extending to Wildcat Canyon Trail and gives cyclists a safer route from 30,000 racing vehicles daily along San Pablo Dam Rd with no bike lanes. The project improves livability and jumpstarts a revitalization for downtown El Sobrante.

  • Land Acquisition for Community Park
Until this October, there is a rare opportunity to acquire a 1.5-acre property to create an urban hub for El Sobrante and surrounding communities. The concept attempts to build a public and private partnership with the County, East Bay Regional Parks District (EBRPD), and/or other foundations to transform the land into a park and restore its creek habitat. The plan includes a Cafe in the old Arco station, security, gardener, fence, two locking gates, an elevated boardwalk with fence below to prevent direct access to the creek and protect restored habitat. The acquisition allows for future development of an extended boardwalk to connect to Wildcat Canyon Trail and provide cyclists a safer route from 30,000 racing vehicles daily along San Pablo Dam Rd with no bike lane.

  • $18.2 Billion Annually For California Fire Protection
Looking to the future of California Fire Fighting I see that the fire season is lasting longer and even though there are complaints about spending there has never been a truly well funded fire fighting strategy because there is only enough money to barely take care of the ever growing fires which leaves no money to plan ahead for cutting edge systems and technologies, manpower and equipment are barely adequate in the best of times and if you ask Fire Fighting Leaders they would tell you they need more. Enacting a simple accounting change would make the funds available now to get ahead of the fire seasons and protect all California Citizen's homes and businesses.
