• Oppose the nuclear option.
We seem to be losing our democracy and since the Supreme Court is the last resort to defend our rights, confirming a nominee should require buy in from both parties to keep the court not becoming even more partisan. This time the Republicans are in control but that will not always be true.

  • "Senator Heller: Oppose Nuclear Option"
We are calling on Senator Dean Heller to oppose changing the Senate's rules to rush through a lifetime appointment, especially while the Trump administration is under criminal investigation. On Friday, the full Senate will likely vote on Trump's right-wing Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch and fortunately, at least 41 Democrats are planning to stand strong and filibuster to stop his confirmation. But now that Democrats have effectively blocked the 60 vote threshold for Gorsuch's nomination, Republicans are threatening to change the rules by invoking the "nuclear option" to rush through Gorsuch's confirmation. Only ONE Republican needs to oppose the "nuclear option" to shut down this reckless power grab. Let's send a strong message to Senator Heller we are watching he needs to oppose Nuclear Option to protect Nevada and our country. Gorsuch stands with corporations not individual rights.

  • Volkswagen: Stop advertising on "The O'Reilly Factor" and Fox News
Following a report from The New York Times that five women have received more than $13 million in settlements for sexual harassment claims against Fox News host Bill O'Reilly, more than 20 companies and several car manufacturers—including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Mitsubishi, Lexus, and Hyundai—have dropped advertising from "The O'Reilly Factor" program. But Volkswagen—which owns the Audi car company that promoted women's equality in an uplifting Super Bowl ad on Fox in February—has not joined in the advertising boycott. This is no surprise about O'Reilly, whose misconduct has been known for years. But finally, companies are standing up against supporting serial abusers like O'Reilly. And It makes Volkswagen and Audi's advertising on Fox all the more egregious, as they just recently tried to score points for an equality-themed advertising campaign. Tell Volkswagen and Audi to cancel all current and future advertising on "The O'Reilly Factor" and Fox News until Bill O'Reilly is held accountable for his despicable history of sexual harassment.

  • Oppose 287(g) in Knox County
287(g) is an immigration enforcement program that deputizes local law enforcement to act as immigration officials. Research shows that 287(g) erodes community trust in local police and sheriff's offices, drains local resources, and separates families. It, also, leads to significant increase in civil rights violations and racial profiling. Knox County in particular with its already long history of civil rights violations, racial profiling, and jail overcrowding, would be a terrible candidate for such a program. Thus, Knox County Sheriff's Office's Application for 287(g) should be opposed. Sign this petition and TIRRC's letter to Secretary Kelly and Acting Director Homan to deny Knox County's 287(g) application.

  • No nuclear option
The Supreme Court Justice should require a minimum of 60 votes in the Senate. Stop the Republicans from going nuclear. Trump should not be allowed to choose a Justice while under investigation. We do not want a Justice that sides with the Corporations while hurting the common people. They need to stop changing the rules. They are there to protect us.

  • Tell Fox News To Hold Bill O'Reilly Accountable For Harassment
Fox News and Bill O'Reilly have paid $13 million to settle with five women who accused the host of repeated sexual harassment or verbal abuse -- including two lawsuits that came in after the network's former chairman, Roger Ailes, was dismissed during a harassment scandal last summer -- according to a bombshell New York Times report published this weekend. [1] Enough is enough. Fox's leadership has protected O'Reilly for years, letting him get away with racism, sexism, and outright lies. [2] In the wake of the accusations against Ailes, Fox News executives declared that the network wouldn't tolerate behavior that "disrespects women or contributes to an uncomfortable work environment" -- but they just signed Bill O'Reilly’s new contract. [3] His ratings shouldn't protect him from the consequences of his behavior. A culture of sexism, misogyny, and harassment has thrived at Fox News for more than a decade. [4] Last year, Fox executives' swift decision to launch an internal investigation into reports about Ailes, managed by the well-regarded law firm Paul, Weiss, suggested that Fox was determined to change. [5] But O'Reilly proves that sexual harassment is still a serious problem at the network. More than 50 advertisers -- including Allstate, BMW of North America, and Jenny Craig -- have already pulled their ads from O'Reilly's program, and other sponsors are publicly considering dropping it now. [6] If Fox doesn't take action soon, more advertisers that don't want to associate their brands with O'Reilly's behavior will soon follow, and the network will face growing financial fallout. It's time for Fox News to stop paying lip service to fixing its toxic atmosphere. Fox executives need to be transparent about the findings of their internal investigations and the steps they're taking to improve, especially now that the spotlight is on their star host. Fox's own CEO had to resign due to reports of sexual harassment; Fox executives need to hold Bill O’Reilly to the same standard. Let's pressure them to do what they said they’d do: create a work environment that doesn’t tolerate harassment, no matter who's doing it. Fox News must take the reports about Bill O'Reilly seriously and hold him accountable. Help us take a stand against the culture of sexual harassment at Fox News by adding your voice now. • Save Our Public Lands
There is a concerted effort in Congress and the White House to privatize our public lands. In the first of January, Congress ruled they are worth $0, which make it easier to give them away. Public lands are for all of us: hunters, fishermen, campers, dirt bikers, hikers, etc. Congress needs to stop all the bills that jeopardize our American heritage.

  • Legalize it in Delaware
From WhyLegalizeMarijuana.com So, Why Legalize Marijuana? Marijuana is an enjoyable and relatively harmless drug. Marijuana is less harmful than tobacco and alcohol, both of which are legal. The criminalization of marijuana represents an unjustified intrusion of big government into our private lives while the legalization represents respect for freedom of choice and personal privacy. Punishing non-violent marijuana users, growers, or sellers serves no legitimate purpose and is inhumane and destructive. Legalization of marijuana would increase respect for police, district attorneys, judges, and the courts. Legalization would save taxpayers billions of dollars by eliminating needless police, court, and prison costs associated with the prosecution (and persecution) of marijuana users and producers. Legalization would also produce billions of dollars [nationally] in new tax revenues while reinvigorating the economy by creating legal jobs producing and selling legal marijuana. Criminalization does not prevent children or adults from obtaining marijuana. Marijuana is medically beneficial.
