• Remove Bannon from the White House
Alt-right “conservatives” and white supremacists do NOT belong in the White House. He’s a racist, xenophobic, misogynist, and a anti-Semitic nationalist. Remove him from the Security Council is not enough - remove him completely!

  • Jefferson County Supervisors: Pass a Resolution Supporting a Statewide Factory Farm Moratorium!
We urge Jefferson County supervisors to pass a county resolution supporting a factory farm moratorium until Iowa has fewer than 100 water impairments and the weaknesses of the Master Matrix are adequately addressed. At any one time, Iowa has over 22 million hogs and 70 million chickens that are predominantly confined on over 9500 factory farms. The state is incapable of adequately regulating the factory farms we currently have. We don’t need more! Seven Iowa counties that already adopted a factory farm moratorium because they recognize the harm corporate livestock production can impose on their constituents and the environment. These harms are documented in over 50 years of respected peer-reviewed studies: Air pollution. Water pollution. Road degradation. Quality of life deterioration. Public health degeneration. Rural economic decay. And the continued loss of traditional, independent livestock producers, once the economic and social backbone of rural communities. Iowa’s factory farms produce 22 billion gallons of manure annually. It is spread over fields and can run off into Iowa’s water. Manure is a leading cause of impaired waterways in Iowa’s rivers and lakes. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources reports 800 documented manure spills and over 4 million fish killed from manure spills since 1996 and 754 water impairments throughout the state. A moratorium would pause new and expanding factory farm development until we can clean up our dirty waterways and fix the myriad of problems associated with corporate controlled livestock production. A pause could open avenues for family farmers to migrate regenerative agricultural practices that cause no harm. That’s why the Iowa Alliance for Responsible Agriculture (IARA), a coalition of 25 national, state, and community organizations in Iowa, is calling for a moratorium on new and expanding factory farms until there are less than 100 water impairments in the state. JFAN is a member of IARA (cleaniowanow.org) and supports the Alliance’s call for a moratorium. If seven counties can pass a resolution, why not Jefferson County? We strongly urge the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors to join their fellow supervisors who’ve demonstrated a deep concern for the health and well-being of their constituents and the environment by adopting a resolution in support of a factory farm moratorium for Iowa.

  • Asbury Park City Council: Stop Inhibiting Short Term Summer Rentals
As responsible owners of residential real property in a tourist-driven beach resort town, many of whom have made significant investments in homes here, and who have endured outrageous property tax increases, we strongly object to this unreasonable infringement on our property rights. While the City has put forth an absurd rationale related to phantom nuisances created by transient lessees, citizen stakeholders know the truth. Residents have become increasingly reliant on supplementing their income through rentals to offset spiking city taxes and in 99% of instances fully comply with all existing codes related to noise and nuisance. As big developers enjoy constant concessions and tax breaks, individual residents are being penalized for their resourcefulness and we will not stand for it. We must unite to defeat this proposed Ordinance, and the Council must know their reelection depends on their position on this issue. Come to a meeting to let your voice be heard, Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10AM at the City Council Chambers at the Asbury Park Municipal Building. http://www.cityofasburypark.com/egov/documents/1491327389_00943.pdf

  • Apologize to Ambassador Susan Rice, Now
As a black female, I no longer want to stand by and say nothing; it is up to us at the grassroots level to speak up and condemn Senator Cotton's unfortunate and outrageous name-calling of another woman, especially a black woman who has served our country proudly, as has Ambassador Susan Rice. Last week, Congresswoman Maxine Waters was disparaged by Bill O'Reilly; this week, Ambassador Susan Rice was vilified by Tom Cotton. Instead of bragging about this, Senator Cotton should refrain from this behavior in the future and apologize to Ambassador Rice. Now.

  • Childcare abuse
Childcare workers are constantly abusing their power. Our children need to be monitored so we know their safe and can have proof when they tell us they have been hit and the staff denies it. Feb. 14 a man was arrested for molesting a child in daycare, four weeks ago a five month old babys arm was broken by an employee at a daycare. The stories go on and on. Employees need to be better trained with more than 12 units in child development. They need to be watched! Our children are innocent and need to be protected. Without cameras it will always be the childrens word against the teachers. My family member said he was hit by his daycare teacher and the teacher said he was lying so it was dismissed by the director.

  • Tell Congress: Stop trying to repeal Obamacare
Since President Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) failed spectacularly last month to pass a long-promised healthcare bill that would repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA), progressive voices have urged politicians to solve the problems of rising premiums and unequal access to care with nationwide Medicare-for-All. But the Trump administration is taking the opposite approach, as it tries to revive its dead healthcare bill with even crueler legislation: Late Monday, Vice President Mike Pence and other White House officials proposed a harsher healthcare law to the far-right Congressional Freedom Caucus, in an attempt to garner their support for a new bill. The White House proposed allowing states to apply for waivers to jettison two core Obamacare regulations. Those regulations require insurance companies to cover essential health benefits (EHBs), which includes coverage for pre-existing conditions, and also prevent insurers from charging sick people higher premiums. • Loss of innocence
No justice has been served for my youngest daughter who is a victim of sexual assault and a helpless victim of the corrupt system of child protective services. Yes i have been deeply affected by my cause for the start of this petition. In june of 2016 a homeless family member comes to me for help seeking shelter. I agree to let him stay for a couple of weeks. One day i had a need for a babysitter for about 5 hours, he says to me that is the least he can do is babysit my two youngest children. I left thinking they were in good hands and i was wrong. While gone he does the unthinkable. He sexually assaulted my daughter. I got told about the assault 6 days later by her sister and upon finding out i immediately made him leave my home. While. He was being confronted by her father he cuts her dad with a knife they fight he runs away and ends up in the hospital and tell police that he was assaulted because we robbed him of his money and had earlier in the evening we took him to purchase drugs.which was not true. The ksp show up at my house clueless of why he was really assaulted and for an hour while speakinf and interrogating me about his assault tells me with now hearing both side they will further investgate and i would nees to contact child protective services in order to file charges of the alligations of assault which i found odd because they are not law inforcement. So i did what they told me. But first upon them leaving i took my daughter to the hospital where she was examined and determined sexual assualt suspected with mimimal problems. It is the job of kosair doctors to report their findings to cps in my county which i was told they were going to and that i was tols by police i needed to any way. Kosair made me aware that they were legally obligated to do so if they knew of a crime. So 3 months go by but during the first 3 months i have 2 cps workers come to my home the next day there was a plan put into action to follow up with family dr. Also to keep her assailant away from her and to get her and the family if needed into couseling. Her dad and i signed it and was made aware thatvictim would be contacting police to put on her case....a few days later another cps worker and a state police officer came to my home this cps workers title is protection and permanency. I ask her what her plans are if they were going to rove my kids cause thats what you do? She says no she was there to take a report and make them aware of the crime and help us put him in jail...well the officer is all about questioning me about drug use and i told him i was not using drugs and he says to me according to the accused he says that i am and have been for a while. He accused me numerous times while here that i was on something.... That angered me. So he tells the cps worker that the asailant isnt going to lie because he tested positive for drugs while in the hospitl and i just dont see him lying about it so he recommend her to ask me to submit to a drug test and she did i agreed to and passed it. That drug test was takin 2 or 3 months after that day. When was called with insructions from my cps worker to take the test it then that i was i told that the case had been assigned to a different officer and she would tell him to call me in a couple days. I never heard from him at all. Well just the beginning of march im really angry not knowing what is going on with the investigation because i had not heard from any of them at all. I called post 5 many times asking to speak to the officer thay the worker said was on the case never talked to him. Her father calls and finally gets told that the case was assigned to a different officer it was then that we were told that he was sceduled to come to post 5 ro submit to a lie detector test 3 times and he never showed and thw officer told me he was going to pick him up the next day and he would call me. Well almost a week later no call so we called him and he made me aware that he had been out of town but had officers watching him. So the following week her dad calls him and he said that he was gonna round him up next week. Her father asked if we could ask the sherrifs office to pick him up or another officer from post 5 to pick him up and he said no because there is no evidence of a crime . we have medical records from kosair and the childs advocy center where all of my children spoke to a forensic investigator and turned in a phone he used to record just the beginning of the assualt which my daughter tells them thats whats taking place and yet they tell me it holds no evidence when i can see whats taking place but they cant? Also have counsler reports of their findings we had clothes here that the very first detective was comimg to pick up upon leaving advocy center that day. That never happened the clothes of his with possible dna and my daughters dna was finally picked up 2 weeks ago by the captain of post 5 which he wasnt even aware of the case being investigated...i find that very odd as well. Well was it stand. Now we are playing the waiting game. Back in september of last year cps worker visits and tell me there was enough evidence to substantiate charges and yet i was told by the first 2 officer that came to my home they are the ones that need to be called so they can make an arrest.i made the new officer aware of what was told to me and this is what he said cps substantiatimg charges and them filing charges were two total different ways and them wanting him to take a lie detector test was a tool they use if he fails to get him to admit his crime and that they needed an admission from him to even make an arrest. In the mean time back in september cps worker tells me she was going to close her case upon me that she finds that im a protector have great kids that have great attendance and honor students at school they are well behaved and they are well takin care of she found no neglect in any way i passed drug test but yet she had to keep the assault on my da...

  • Congress: Stand up for Syrian Civilians Facing Chemical Attacks
On the anniversary of Martin Luther King's death, I attended and was moved by an interfaith media briefing in Chicago hosted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The panel addressed the horrific chemical attack in the city of Khan Sheikhoun where hundreds were killed or injured, including children. There are severe medical needs as reported by SAMS rescue group. Since moral leadership is lacking at the political level, we the people must condemn this holocaust and STAND UP. Let's honor the spirit of Martin Luther King.

  • Change the sentence of Grant Hunter
He is my first kiss, first love, and high school sweetheart. I have known him 14 years and dated him on and off throughout that time. We are now engaged to be married, despite his crime. I am wanting to be with him out here though, not separated. So I am fighting to get him home. I know his character and that wasn't him. He had a drug problem, but he has changed in the years since getting arrested for this crime, and he is ready to be a productive member of society if released!
