• Tell @realDonaldTrump: Yemen's Houthis Are Not Iran Proxies
Hundreds of thousands of Yemeni children are nearing starvation. U.S.-backed Saudi airstrikes near Hodeida - the main entry point for food, medicine and humanitarian aid into northern Yemen - are blocking the delivery of supplies. The way to save these children is to silence the guns, so desperately needed aid can get through. [1] Unfortunately, President Trump is escalating the Saudi war against Houthi rebels in Yemen instead of ending it, thinking this is a proxy war against Iran. But Yemen's Houthis are not proxies of Iran. Joost Hilterman of the International Crisis Group states that "very little hard evidence has turned up of Iranian support to the Houthis," while U.S. military support to the Saudis "exceeds by many factors any amount of support the Houthis have received from Tehran." Hiltermann notes the Houthis "are motivated primarily by a domestic agenda" and "Iran does not control their decision-making." He says the way to handle the Houthis is not to "continue an unwinnable war" but to "push Yemeni parties back to the negotiating table." [2] Urge Trump and Congress to save Yemeni children from starvation and end the war by signing our petition. References: 1. • Take the Pledge: Stand Up For Immigrant Families
As a mom and an immigrant, my heart is breaking for the millions of families fearing deportation. No child should have to worry about ICE taking their parents away. That is why I pledge to: - Use my voice to speak out against Trump’s attacks on immigrant families - Use my resources to help keep immigrant families together - Use my influence to encourage others in my community to stand with immigrants Millions of families are now at risk from Donald Trump's new deportation policies. Immigrants have been targeted in places that were previously safe, like church-run homeless shelters and even domestic violence court. Many immigrant parents are living in constant fear that going to work or sending a child to school could lead to deportation. These executive orders are inhumane and cruel. Let’s show our immigrant friends and neighbors that Trump's policies do not reflect American values. Take the pledge and join my organization, ParentsTogether, in standing with immigrant families. Start to use your influence by sharing this pledge and encouraging others to stand with immigrants as well.

  • Maxine Waters and Ruth Bader-Ginsburg need to host a podcast together!
I am one of many people profoundly inspired by these two ladies and their accomplishments. They are no-nonsense, take-charge people, and set a wonderful example of how powerful women can affect positive change. Many of us out there would love to bring them together to discuss the issues of the day and hear their unique opinions on a regular basis. This petition is just to show them that we'd love this idea to become a reality - if they're so inclined!

  • TELL THE USGA + LPGA: DUMP TRUMP!
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is holding its most prestigious tournament--the 2017 U.S. Women's Open--at Donald Trump's New Jersey golf resort. Yep, a women's organization wants to give millions in revenue, free advertising and good branding to Donald Trump. It's straight up offensive. And even US senators agree--on October 26, three of them wrote to the head of the US Golf Association (USGA), who is in charge of venue decisions, urging him to refuse to affiliate the tournament with a racist serial sexual predator. Big companies like Uber and Nordstrom have already cut significant ties with Trump. If enough of us speak up and join the mounting pressure, the USGA + LPGA will be forced to move the tournament. Can you sign the petition?

  • Include Congress in Repeal and Replace of ACA
I would like our politicians to be covered by whatever new version comes out of Congress. It only makes sense that they will be covered by a revised ACA rather than have private health coverage especially when the People of our great Country already pay for it through our taxes. When a member of Congress retires, they should be required to have ACA coverage for which they pay out of pocket. This would essentially give best coverage if they are required to participate upon leaving office.

  • Stop the dangerous plan to turn public school funding into vouchers for private school students.
As a public school parent, I see every day the difficult and essential work that happens in our public schools. That's why I'm sounding the alarm about HR 610, a horrifying new bill in Congress that would repeal the Educational and Secondary Education Act, the landmark law that provides Title I support for schools serving low-income students--and guarantees essential rights for disabled students. HR 610 would redirect Federal ed funding into to vouchers for private school kids. The bill would also largely abolish the Department of Education and repeal basic health standards for school lunches. Millions of students like my daughter and her classmates would immediately suffer. Donald Trump and Betsy DeVos have embraced similar ideas. So we need to stop HR 610 from getting traction in Congress. The good news is, this isn't a party line issue. People across the political spectrum support public schools and the ESEA. If we raise our voices together, we can stop HR 610. Please share this petition widely!

  • Oppose Donald Trump's plans to cut funds for public schools!
Donald Trump's education plan would redirect billions of dollars away from public schools to create a massive and risky voucher program, even though evidence shows that vouchers often hurt the kids they’re supposed to help. To pay for it, experts say support for schools that serve low-income students would be cut. And another likely source would be cuts to IDEA, which helps kids with disabilities. Many education and disability-rights groups have opposed Trump's new education Secretary Betsy DeVos, especially after she showed a stunning lack of understanding and support for laws that protect kids with disabilities. The good news is that Congress would have to approve Trump's cuts, and there is support across the political spectrum. With enough of an outcry, we can protect our public schools!

  • Don't cut health care for kids!
As parents, we would do anything to keep our kids healthy and safe. But many of us won't be able to if Congress goes along with the health care cuts Donald Trump and Republican politicians are proposing. Repealing the Affordable Care Act could strip health coverage from 13 million children, according to a new report. Turning Medicaid--which pays for health care for almost 40% of kids--into "block grants" would harm millions more. Preventive care is so important for kids. Kids who don't get care they need for conditions like asthma can fall behind in school or worse. And a serious illness can easily bankrupt a family. No member of congress wants to be known as "The Guy who Took Healthcare from Kids." So if we make enough of a fuss, we can stop this. Please share this petition widely!

  • Hold Prospective and Existing Police Officers to Higher Standards
We have seen too many people in the U.S. die at the hands of unqualified and ill-equipped police officers who are meant to serve and protect the people, not disrespect and murder them. We need a change, and the beginning to this should be steeper qualifications.

  • Urge SF Mayor to fully fund Deportation Defense
In detention, immigrants are often subjected to harsh conditions of confinement and denied access to phone calls, family contact. They are not provided legal counsel if they cannot afford it. They might not know they have legal pathways to stay in the country (such as seeking asylum), and often waive their rights without understanding what is happening. Immigration law is incredibly complex. Immigrants with legal counsel are 5-7 times more likely to be able to legally remain with their families. Every person deserves legal representation when the stakes are so high. Immigrants in detention include people who have been in the US for years as hard working members of the economy, as well as asylum seekers and other vulnerable groups including children, pregnant women, and individuals who are seriously ill.
