HR 226 is misnamed the "African elephant Conservation and Legal Ivory Possession Act." It would allow ivory to be sold again in the United States, and would most likely cause more poaching, more deaths, and ultimately, the extinction of the African elephant. It would certainly not conserve nor protect African elephants. It is a giveaway to trophy hunters, gun collectors, and the NRA. Many activists have worked for years to ban ivory and "sport-hunted trophy" of elephants, and this horrific and cruel resolution would undo all that work and make elephants even more of a target for poachers and trophy hunters.

Our community is strong and resilient, and we deserve to be seen. We Count. The Trump administration's recent decision to remove sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) questions from HHS surveys, to halt progress on including SOGI questions in the Census and American Community Survey, and to stop evaluation of HUD LGBTQ programs make it seem like the Trump administration doesn't agree. We won't stand for it. We demand to be counted. Reverse the decision not to collect data about LGBTQ people and their families now. We Count, so count us!

Donald Trump has issued Executive Orders demanding the EPA and other government agencies move backwards on all of the progress we've made to protect the climate over the past several years. Agencies are being ordered to ignore the impacts of carbon pollution, begin leasing coal mining rights on federal land, and -- perhaps worst of all -- the EPA is being ordered to dismantle its landmark climate protections, the Clean Power Plan. Once again, we find ourselves with an out-of-control Trump Administration ignoring science, public opinion, and sound public policy to help their buddies in the fossil fuel industry. We can't let them get away with this. Only an outpouring of public outrage can help turn the tide and defend the climate. We've seen it happen with the attempted Muslim ban, and we saw it last week with the disastrous attempt to repeal health care reform. Stand up, together, and we can defend our progress on climate change and continue our climate leadership.

Mountain communities around the world are seeing their environments and economies damaged because of climate change. In the Lake Tahoe area, we’re already seeing increased warming air and lake temperatures, heavy rain in winter causing increased flooding, more invasive species, increased tree mortality, and increased risk of catastrophic forest fires. Given the stakes for our lake and our community, it’s imperative for Tahoe to become a national leader in confronting climate change. That means cutting ties with the polluting fossil fuels driving the problem, and repowering South Lake Tahoe with 100% clean, renewable energy. More renewable energy means more good clean energy jobs, cleaner air and water, and healthier communities. So far, 25 cities across the U.S. have made the 100% clean energy commitment, including a growing number of mountain communities like Park City, UT, Moab, UT and Aspen, CO. Now it’s Tahoe’s turn to step up and take bold action toward the clean energy future that we need. Please sign the petition to urge the City of South Lake Tahoe to commit to securing 100% of our electricity from clean, renewable sources like solar and wind by 2030.

Congress is paying exorbitant amounts of money to support the Trump family's lifestyle, while Trump is trying to take away the healthcare of over 24 MILLION Americans. This money should be used to better help the lives of Americans! 1. Strengthen our healthcare!!! 2. Invest in public education!!! 3. Improve conditions for homeless vets!!! Just to name a few examples.

Global warming is a proven scientific fact. Trump denies it to help his cronies in big coal and big oil get even richer. If we allow more coal mines to be opened and built and sustained, we are polluting our own country and our children's futures. We are rolling back our commitment to our global partners. America, we must keep our integrity and our promises --we must continue our leadership on climate change. We must block Trump's executive order to revive Big Coal. We are about 1600 families in our Community and are experiencing very bad cell phone signal while at home. Our calls often drop and switching to wireless calling is not helping as a work around. It's sad that for a million dollar community, ATT is unable to provide adequate cell phone signal. I have checked with City of Frisco and apparently there are no additional cell towers planned in near future. We need ATT to consider improving the service at the earliest possible, failure of which we will change our service from ATT to a better service provider.

This action alone might discourage dishonest applicants from even running for federal positions. This is one way to "drain the swamp".

As a scientist, I know climate change is real and dangerous. As a grandmother, I want to leave a habitable planet for my grandchild. Most scientific models predict that this planet will be nearly uninhabitable by the end of this century if we do not take very strong immediate action to limit the gases that cause the warming effect that is now occurring and accelerating.

According to the American Lung Association, Fresno, Clovis, Madera, Hanford and surrounding communities have been ranked as the dirtiest places to live for over 10 years with the worse air quality in the country. Leaf Blowers continue to be used with no ban in effect; all the while raising dust levels and particulate matter in an already polluted community.
