Senator Warren: Join the movement and boycott Trump's inaugurationCongressman John Lewis sparked a growing movement this weekend to boycott Donald Trump's inauguration. He said he would not attend because Russia's tampering with the presidential election means that he cannot view Trump as a "legitimate president." Since then, nearly 60 House Democrats have announced that they will not attend Trump's inauguration, either—and Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer told the media that the decision to attend the inauguration is up to each senator. But as far as we know, Senator Elizabeth Warren still intends to attend the inauguration—which is why she needs to hear from you right now. Hundreds of thousands of people across the country, including MoveOn members like you and supporters of other progressive organizations like CREDO and Democracy for America, have spoken out to demand members of Congress resist Trump, giving 59 House Democrats the public support and political will needed to stand up to Trump and refuse to attend his inauguration. Now, senators who believe in our shared progressive values and democratic principals of our country must do the same. Donald Trump is a threat to our nation; he is an unstable autocrat and must be resisted at every turn. By boycotting the inauguration, elected representatives are refusing to treat Trump's presidency as business as usual.470 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Jo Comerford

President Obama: Protect the California CoastPlease sign the petition, then call or email the White House with the information below: Comments: 202-456-1111 Switchboard: 202-456-1414 https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact President Obama, we respectfully – and urgently request that in the closing days of your presidency you block vulnerable areas on the California Coast from fossil fuel exploitation. We are concerned that even with the protected areas on the Pacific Coast, the areas off of the southern coast of California – from Santa Barbara to San Diego have come into the crosshairs of the fossil fuel industry. The southern coast of California is particularly attractive to the Oilmen because there is on-shore infrastructure available to process the extracted hydrocarbons. They are proposing the use of new technologies such as horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. We cannot afford to compromise the marine habitats of Coastal California. We have gained so much – but could lose as much or more by way of the air and water pollutants that fracking would release in our waters. It would also expose the entire coast to the risk of a catastrophic oil-spill event should the high-pressure wells blow – something that does occur on land where the blow-out can be contained without public notice, but would not be so easily contained (or concealed) in a marine environment. Please use your executive power to immediately protect our coastline from any oil exploration.2,134 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Wendi Kallins

@CoryBooker: Come Back to Justice. Support Drug Imports, Oppose Settlements.Press reports say New Jersey Senator Cory Booker is positioning himself to run for President in 2020. [1] Unfortunately, Booker has so far refused to distance himself from DC special interest lobbies whose demands conflict with the interests and values of the majority of Americans: Wall Street, brand-name pharmaceutical companies (Pharma), public school privatizers, and the pro-settlements lobby (Aipac). Booker did Pharma's bidding when he helped defeat the Sanders/Klobuchar amendment to bring down drug prices by allowing the import of drugs from Canada. [2] Such "parallel imports" are also a key tool for developing countries to make essential medicines affordable. Pro-Pharma U.S. policies get "exported" through trade agreements like the TPP, so Booker's pro-Pharma stance hurts working families around the world, not just in the United States. Booker is doing Aipac's bidding by co-sponsoring Marco Rubio's S. Res 6, which slams UN Security Council Resolution 2334 for reaffirming international opposition to illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank. [3] Rubio's resolution is an attack on President Obama and Secretary Kerry, who allowed UNSC Resolution 2334 to pass by refusing to veto it. [4] J Street, Americans for Peace Now, and JVP oppose S. Res. 6. Urge Senator Booker to "Come Back to Justice." Urge him to support drug imports from Canada and oppose illegal settlements in the West Bank by signing our petition. Federal TaxesPresident-Elect Trump has stated in a debate that he is too "smart" to pay Federal taxes. He has refused to release his Federal Tax returns. He must prove that he pays like the rest of us do. He must release his returns.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elaine Starinchak

No contraception? No Viagra! The debate surrounding women's healthcare, specifically related to reproductive rights, continues to focus on moral and ethical dilemmas unrelated to actual health outcomes. To this end, the current efforts to repeal ACA, and the contraceptive coverage mandate espoused within, without a clear plan to replace with equivalent coverage serves to leave women with a substantial increase in their annual health costs. Contraceptive coverage should be routine. The research supporting routine contraceptive coverage is clear and overwhelming (http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/01/17/509734620/u-s-abortion-rate-falls-to-lowest-level-since-roe-v-wade). For advocates of abortion restrictions, to simply ignore this evidence is foolish, despite being in contrast to their views. In 2017, it is time to fully endorse this routine coverage for women without the potential to revoke in the future. If congress cannot see to this, we propose a full ban on coverage of agents for erectile dysfunction (Viagra, Levitra, Cialis, etc). Surely, if contraception is in conflict with religious beliefs, then so too are artificial erections induced by modern day pharmaceutical agents. If women have to pay for their birth control, men have to pay for their medicated erections. To our congress: be consistent in your ideology and demand coverage of all routine women's contraceptive care, or revoke coverage for erectile dysfunction drugs. You pick!76 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Desmond Watt

Repeal Congress HealthcareThe repealing of the ACA with no regard to the people covered by it and no replacement plan, has convinced me our congress needs to be In our shoes. As part time employees, they should not be covered by their present benefit. This will free up money needed for healthcare for all.160 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Jan F Walsh

Senate Democrats: Roll up your sleeves & delay Trump's Cabinet nomineesNow is not the time for Senate Democrats to play business-as-usual, especially with Trump's most dangerous Cabinet nominees, including Rex "ExxonMobil" Tillerson, moving to a Senate floor vote soon. Many Democrats allowed Tillerson and Jeff Sessions to cruise through the first step of the Senate confirmation process. Now, as we move into the next phase of confirmations for some of Trump's Cabinet of corporate cronies and bigots, we must demand more leadership from our elected leaders and demand they use every Senate tool at their disposal to delay them all. Senate Democrats can absolutely delay many of Trump's Cabinet picks by simply using the tools already available to them. Examples include: • Invoking cloture, a process by which they may limit consideration of a pending matter to 30 additional hours of debate; • And forcing a roll call on all nominations, which delays the time it takes to confirm each nomination. Now is the moment for leadership and Senate Democrats must rise up to the occasion. If they stand up for us, we will stand with them.305 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Iram Ali

Senate: Don't destroy rules that protect us!If passed by the Senate and signed by the new President, these acts would result in wholesale destruction of rules protecting the environment, worker health and safety, consumer rights, and the well-being of families and communities. These rules translate laws passed by Congress into actual practice, after extensive study by the relevant federal agencies and ample opportunity for public comment. The new House acts also would cripple all future rule-making. For more information see https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/16/opinion/the-assault-on-health-and-safety-begins.html The Senate must reject this radical restriction of the federal government’s power to protect Americans.228 of 300 SignaturesCreated by David Stern
