• Tell Kelsey Warren/Energy Transfer Partners that they are not above the Law!
Within days of our Election we have devolved to a state where there is no law and order in our land. This will destroy any legal system we have. Law-abiding citizens who hold respect for the body of the law are outraged that this Corporation is allowed to act with impunity, injuring and maiming Water Protectors on their own land, withheld from the United States by two Treaties which Mr. Warren and his Board of Directors intend to disregard - again. Is there no one in this land that can make this Corporation obey the law? Only us. Only us. Stand with Standing Rock because it is US!

  • Wall Street: Call on Trump to Fire Steve Bannon
UPDATE: There has already been a flurry of bigoted executive orders just a week into the Trump administration, including an unconstitutional Muslim ban that has already been temporarily blocked by the courts. Worse still, the white nationalist Steve Bannon has now been added to the National Security Council. It is *LONG* past time for Wall Street to speak up on behalf of its Muslim employees, its diverse workforce, and to show leadership in the face of Islamophobia and hate. --------- Every major Wall Street bank has staff associations devoted to minorities, including people of color, religious minorities, and LGBTQ people. Yet the big U.S. banks have been silent now that Trump has named both a white nationalist (Steve Bannon) and an anti-Muslim bigot (Michael Flynn) to his cabinet. In late 2016, the Ranking Members of the House Financial Services and Senate Banking Committees, Rep. Maxine Waters and Senator Sherrod Brown were joined by Rep. Keith Ellison and Senator Elizabeth Warren in a letter to financial services leaders, demanding that they condemn the appointment of Stephen Bannon to Donald Trump's administration. They asked the industry, “what message will it send to your customers and employees if you stay silent?” We agree. Wall Street must show its employees and its customers that the industry will not remain silent in the face of bigotry, prejudice, and white nationalism. • Pat McCrory Needs to Concede
Voters of North Carolina have spoken, and have done so with clarity. Governor McCrory lost his reelection bid to Attorney General Roy Cooper, by a margin of 7,448 votes. McCrory has claimed voter fraud in more than half of North Carolina's counties, but an attorney monitoring the proceedings called these claims “silly, small in number, poorly researched and often defamatory,” which is undeniable. Even republican-controlled county election boards have forcefully rejected McCrory’s challenges, concluding that there is simply no proof of widespread fraud. Tell North Carolina legislators and the governor its over! Ask county election boards to not hear one more false accusation of election fraud and do not accept a single meeting request from McCrory to discuss any further. McCrory must concede the race and peacefully transfer power to Govenor-elect Roy Cooper.

  • Take Trump Off Twitter
I'm concerned that President-elect Trump has been abusing his power using this platform, and have been reading about multiple death threats to various journalists, and people who have "upset Trump." Most recently - as an artist/musician - I am deeply alarmed at Trump's attacks on the actors in the cast of Hamilton. The review in the New York Times on Megyn Kelly's memoir - which included her experience with Trump and his Twitter account - was my first clue that Trump's use of Twitter was something actually dangerous and not just entertaining.

An account called @thirstyf***boy posted a video of a man falling off of a building and turned it into comedy. Me, as a 24 year old is deeply disturbed by this and can't imagine how instagram's younger audience feels.

  • Information Accountability Act
The FCC is well behind the times when it comes to defending the public trust. The proliferation of misinformation is a big problem for the electorate, regardless of which side of the aisle you are on. People's lack of trust in the information they are getting has polarized our democracy. There needs to be some designation that is trusted by everyone to be at least mostly accurate and non partisan.

  • Congress: We Demand an EPA that Protects Our Environment
Remember the environmental disasters caused by DDT, Exxon Valdez, and hexavalent chromium uncovered by Erin Brokovich? American businesses have shown us time and again the low priority they place on the environment and public health. We need regulations to protect us and the businesses from themselves, but Scott Pruitt, President-elect Trump's appointee to lead the EPA, and Myron Ebell, leader of the EPA transition team, are not the men for this job. They have made their careers denying the legitimacy of environmental concerns, fighting so that business tycoons can fatten their wallets while the public is left to breathe polluted air and drink contaminated water. Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, we must all stand together and refuse to watch silently as our health is jeopardized and our environment is destroyed.

  • Petition to Declare Standing Rock a National Monument to Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline
It is your duty as President of the United States to protect your people. You must protect the safety of Native Americans and their supporters who have gathered peacefully to oppose the Dakota Access Pipeline. We stand up for the sovereign rights of Indigenous people to land. The Dakota Access Pipeline threatens to damage land held sacred to the Standing Rock Sioux and other Indigenous nations. We stand against violence and repression. Indigenous people have been facing cruel treatment from the United States Government and its leaders for centuries. It hasn’t stopped. The National guard, North Dakota state troopers, and private security firms have meted out harsh treatment on protesters of the pipeline utilizing attack dogs, rubber bullets, pepper spray, and strip searches in their attempt to break the people’s opposition. Such treatment has been labeled as ‘inhuman and degrading’ by a report issued by the United Nations. We demand protection of our environment on which we rely on for life. The DAPL symbolizes our tendency to value crude corporate greed over environmental sustainability. Damage to the environment is felt globally. Water shortages, extreme weather, and temperature rises are problems we are all currently facing, and the devastation will continue to increase. The DAPL will release more carbon into the air, and risks endangering a source of fresh water for the Standing Rock Sioux and 8 million people living downstream. “A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people. ” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt #NoDAPL
