Fireworks in city neighborhoods are out of control because too many people are shooting off illegal fireworks, which frighten our pets causing them to run away in fear, and disrupt our peace of mind. Over 500 animals were reported missing this 4th of July. Veterans and others who suffer from PTSD are also affected by these loud blasts. The potential for property damage is also high. We are a drought-stricken state and the fire danger is always a threat when people shoot off fireworks. Ban fireworks in neighborhoods. Let people go see them in designated venues where they are controlled and safe. While we are targeting Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Governor Brian Sandoval to receive this petition, we also believe this message needs to go to leaders all over Southern Nevada. There are existing laws banning fireworks in Clark County, but they aren't enforced.

We have family members and friends that live in this area and it will do more harm than good. Property values will decrease and drainage will tremendously affect this area. To house over 1000 new residents in an area that has a one way in and out is ridiculous, because the roads can not sustain such an increase.

As a result of this abuse of power, Texas Parks and Wildlife will be executing around 90 ducks and geese to control the population of waterfowl in the park. Deravis Caine Rogers was shot and killed by Atlanta Police on June 22, 2016 while unarmed and not posing a threat. William Joseph Walsh's call for the murder of the President of the United States is a pure racial hate crime and violates 18 U.S. Code § 871. Joe Welsh's rhetoric will lead to an all out race war, which threatens and undermines the national security of the United States and will lead to the senseless deaths of millions of Americans of all races, religions, origin, genders, sexual orientation, sexual preference and what have you. The Democratic National Committee has taken a very meaningful step by including a plank on gun violence prevention in the 2016 Democratic Party Platform. However, given misleading GOP efforts that PRETEND they want stronger gun laws, it is important for the Platform to be precise in its goals. Current language calls for expanding background checks, but is not explicit that they should be for ALL gun purchases. We must distinguish between universal background checks and the weak legislation introduced by Republicans in the House and Senate. The goal of keeping "weapons of war" off our streets mentions assault weapons, but omits large capacity magazines (LCM). Experts agree that banning LCMs would do more to reduce gun deaths than an assault weapons ban alone. The platform calls for keeping guns out of the hands of "violent" criminals. Our standard should be higher; no criminal should have access to firearms. Finally, the plank sets the goal of keeping guns from people with "severe mental health issues." The Platform should take care not to stigmatize those who suffer from severe mental health issues, the vast majority of whom are not violent and in fact are more likely to be victims than perpetrators of violent acts. The language should be modified to "keeping guns from those with severe mental health issues who may be a danger to themselves or others."
