Down with Hate, Cancel the DebateI was very negatively affected by the tenor of the second 2016 presidential debate, and I know many others who were as well. It was emotionally exhausting and left me with feelings of despair about whether as a nation we could ever feel compassion for one another again. The final debate is scheduled for 10/19/16, and I would like to set a deadline for this petition of 10/16/16 at midnight Eastern time.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Debra Burrington

Tell these 6 politicians to denounce Trump's comments as sexual assaultDonald Trump’s comments to Billy Bush in 2005, picked up on a hot mic and heard around the world, are not just an embarrassment to our country. In his initial defense of his disgusting comments, he said he was engaging in “locker room banter.” But what Trump said isn’t just “lewd” or something real men talk about in locker rooms. What Trump described was sexual assault—grabbing women’s body without any hesitation of thought of women as people. Yet, there are 6 notable politicians still sticking by him and downplaying his dangerous and criminal attitude. They must acknowledge that their candidate promotes sexual assault and denounce their support immediately or risk losing all of their future political ambitions. * Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions claimed Sunday that if Trump actually “grabbed a women by the genitals" it wouldn't necessarily be sexual assault. * Governor Mike Pence, Trump’s running mate, said he wouldn’t “condone” the remarks but the notorious religious fanatic made no mention of the actual content or its promotion of violence against women. * Iowa Senator Joni Ernst merely downplayed the comments as “lewd and insulting.” * Kentucky Senator Rand Paul denounced the comments but has not responded to inquiries on how he will vote in November. * House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy called for an apology, but has not distanced himself from supporting Trump’s presidential bid. * Similarly, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise also called for Trump to apologize, but is still sticking by him. This dangerous and criminal attitude of Trump's--that he can do "anything" to women--puts women's safety at risk every day. And justice for victims of men like Trump, who feel entitled to women’s bodies, is rare. Women who come forward are often blamed, marginalized, or called liars. The Washington Post’s reporting on Trump’s conversation with Billy Bush is so important--every American needs to know who Donald Trump is before the voting on November 8. That’s why we’re urging politicians to call his comments for what they are--bragging about sexual assault. Trump isn’t just vile and lewd--he’s dangerous and boasting about crimes against women.32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Justin Krebs

.@POTUS: End U.S. Support for Saudi Bombing Campaign in YemenFollowing a bombing attack by Saudi-led forces on a funeral in Yemen, the White House announced an “immediate review” of U.S. support for the Saudi Arabia-led military campaign in Yemen. "U.S. security cooperation with Saudi Arabia is not a blank check," the White House statement said. [1] Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy said: "Saudi airstrikes, with support from the United States, have killed thousands of civilians in Yemen. Yesterday's attack on large funeral party follows months of attacks on schools, homes, and hospitals…we are past the point of strongly worded statements. If the U.S. is serious when it says our support for Saudi Arabia isn't a blank check, then it's time to prove it -- because it's clear the Saudi-led coalition isn't listening. The administration should pull U.S. support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen because it's harming America's national security, enabling terrorist groups to thrive, and killing innocent civilians.” [2] Oxfam said: "This weekend’s attack on a funeral home in Sana’a was a gruesome act that served no purpose except to deepen Yemen’s misery. With more than 140 dead and more than 525 injured according to early reports, this was a massacre of civilians, apparently carried out by Saudi warplanes fueled and supported by the United States…. the US announced that it will immediately review its support to the Saudi-led coalition. This review ... should conclude immediately, with the withdrawal of all US support, including the sale of arms, to the parties. Any other choice signals ongoing indifference to the thousands of Yemenis killed by airstrikes and the millions on the verge of starvation thanks to a senseless, preventable conflict. The US must throw its full weight behind a political settlement, it cannot be a peace broker and an arms broker at the same time." [3] Urge President Obama and Congress to end U.S. support for the Saudi bombing campaign in Yemen by signing our petition. Support UC Berkeley Librarians Win a Fair Contract! After more than four months of contract negotiations between UC-AFT Librarians and the University administration over the two open articles Salary, and Professional Activities and Development, the librarians are still waiting for a meaningful response to the union’s proposals. While UC Librarians make up to 27% LESS than their counterparts at CSU campuses, the UC offered a mere 1% salary increase. When UC librarians are increasingly being encouraged to demonstrate national prominence in their fields, the UC has offered no changes to Professional Development funding. UC-AFT’s core demands include: *Competitiveness: Librarians need salaries that are competitive with our colleagues in the California Community Colleges and California State University. *Consistency: A minimum level of professional development funding for all librarians across the UC system. *Compression: Librarian salary compression must be addressed by extending the scale. 21st-century scholarship means students and faculty need more and better services from professional librarians, but librarians are being asked to do more and more for less and less. In order for the UC to recruit and retain professional librarians, the UC needs to provide competitive salaries and professional development funding. This is why we, the undersigned UCB campus and community members, call on you to support UC-AFT librarians in achieving a fair contract!309 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Paul Bissember

Death Penalty for Repeat AbusersMy ex beat me within an inch of my life just two months after I had his first son. When I tried to leave he kidnapped my infant, called a "n*****" and told me I would never see him again. He then abused the courts system by telling them that I had abandoned my infant, while he threatened to kill me and slit my older children's throats in order to keep us out of court. The courts awarded him full custody and me visitation at his parents house. The parents who paid a shady attorney to help him get off from almost killing me and helping him hide my son from me, abuse enablers. A week after the judge awarded him custody, he attacked a 68 year old man, his own father, breaking his glasses on his face and cutting open his nose. Before me, I learned that he had attacked another woman, then claimed to have had her repeatedly falsely arrested to "teach her a lesson".1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Anjelica Estrella

Tell the Republican Party: We're holding you accountable for Trump's rise on Election Day"Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p****. You can do anything."—Donald Trump, 20051 In the wake of this audio released on Friday, most prominent Republican leaders have expressed their shock at Trump's words, many of them have gone so far as to call for him to step aside. But the fact of the matter is that the Republican party created Trump. They elevated and supported him as he made countless other vile statements. And now, they don't get to un-tangle themselves from him because they've finally figured out that he's unfit to lead our country. This is not the first time Trump has made appaling comments about other individuals and groups of people, but apparently for many Republican leaders, this was the breaking point. But, with less than a month to go until the election, it's too little, too late. When it comes to Trump, his candidacy is squarely on the shoulders of the Republican party. And you better believe that we'll hold each and every Republican who perpetuated his rise accountable on Election Day.279 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Justin Krebs

Stop $3.6 Million in Tax Credits to Pawtucket SlumlordThis petition is needed because Pawtucket has been through enough with the PawSox fiasco and the closure of the Memorial Hospital Birthing Center and ICU. Why is it always Pawtucket that gets abused? From Larry Lucchino(PawSox) to Dennis Keefe(Memorial hospital) to this slumlord, Pawtucket lacks any sort of defense against the governor and state house leaders allowing wealthy individuals to come in and ravage our local economy and suck every last dime out of our struggling community.58 of 100 SignaturesCreated by DAVID NORTON

Tally's Corner Rotary Proposal• The City DPW and Community Development departments have advanced this project devoid of meeting the State policy requirement to consult and collaborate with affected businesses, residents, other City departments or State Agencies throughout the planning process. • Freight operation is not a considered criteria of the plan. Tractor trailers, large emergency equipment, and passenger buses will not be able to safely negotiate the small-scale rotary from all directions. • The City Council believed their vote of approval endorsed the State’s Complete Streets program and in a subsequent phase a list of priority projects, with a focus on safety around schools, would be developed. • Repeated requests by the public for crash data and documents that have been submitted to the State have gone unanswered. • The 2012 hotel traffic study did not recommend a rotary or major reconfiguration, merely some lane markings and signage. Crash data for Tally’s corner shows it to be lower than the State average. • This plan impedes the iconic view of Harbor Cove and the working waterfront when the program provides for context sensitive approaches. Harbor Cove and Tally’s Corner have been identified in a Heritage Landscape report submitted to the State as part of the City’s cultural and aesthetic landscape to be preserved.151 of 200 SignaturesCreated by voice of the port
