  • Tell Law enforcement no more running 50s
I'm starting this petition because we as Americans have given up way too many of our freedoms and rights in the quest for security. We have excepted the lie that certain policies and procedures are put in place to give us protection for to help defend against terrorism. But in all actuality he that is so far from the truth these freedoms and rights are taken from us to close down the gap on what we can do what we can do to make us More of a police state type of country for example some small on the municipalities in even some of the large ones now have equipment on their cruisers that run hundreds of license plates a second. This gives these smaller municipalities away to drive revenue that is borderline unconstitutional I don't care what the ruling say they shouldn't just be able to run license plates. I was affected because basically I was driving a hoop Dee in Dublin and I got followed and pulled over in the reasoning that the officer gave was he couldn't tell if my license plate was valid or not long story short my car got towed and impounded then I had to wait to be picked up by family and I spent over $500 closer to $600 on that whole ordeal getting my vehicle back. This needs to stop! This now get his police the ability to do racial profiling whenever they like for whatever reason they like and I will not stand for this I want how many others out there won't stand for it either.

  • Convict Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II for the murder of Alton Sterling
As a black woman, I feel that we as people, a group, are being targeted! In the new 38-second recording, Sterling is already on the ground, on his back. One officer is kneeling to Sterling's left. The other officer appears to be straddling Sterling's legs. Sterling can be seen from the chest up and his lower legs are also visible. His left arms and hands are not visible; his right arm is by his side. After gunshots are heard, the camera pans to the right then back to Sterling, who has a large blood stain on his chest. The officer who was on his legs now lies on the pavement above Sterling's head, his gun pointed. The officer radios for an ambulance. As Sterling moves his left arm toward his face and then his chest, the other officer appears to remove something from one of Sterling's right pockets. Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie Jr. said Sterling was armed at the time he was killed and one witness said the officer removed a gun from Sterling's pocket. Sterling, a 37-year-old man who sold CDs and DVDs outside the store, died of his wounds. The officers involved in Tuesday's shooting -- Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II -- have been placed on administrative leave. A source close to the investigation told CNN the officers were interviewed Tuesday night. These officers deserve to be charged and convicted of FIRST degree murder! Please sign to have our voices heard!

  • River Common National Monument
America's first park gaining a National Park designation would mean a great deal to the City of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania economically, but it would also help to honor the various legacies of people. For over five Centuries, diverse people from across the world have visited, lived, or died there - whose very remains were found on the River Common in the 1800's. Today's Common, which rests along the banks of the meandering and majestic Susquehanna River, was upgraded and completely rebuilt (2009) as part of an Army Corps Flood Control Project that stretched throughout historic Wyoming Valley in Luzerne County. Please join me in asking President Barrack H. Obama to designate the one-mile-long River Common a National Monument under the powers vested in him under the Antiquities Act. The designation will pave the way toward a future national park that will incorporate existing historic downtown structures, such as the Irem Temple Auditorium, and use as interpretive museums celebrating Native American and early Colonial American settlers. The park overlooks grounds that have looked primarily the same as they did millenniums ago; it's one of Pennsylvania's best kept historic marvels that has many incredible stories to tell visitors and the rest of the world. Help America understand and experience this little-known yet verdant, award-winning-designed, riverfront park by signing this petition today.

  • Investigate Baton Rouge Police Department
We request that the FBI and US Dept of Justice investigate and oversee a change in policing in Baton Rouge and all other Policing agencies in Louisiana with a history of excessive force, especially on communities of color, and especially in relation to the death of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, LA in July 2016.

  • Remove dangerous dogs from our city
On Friday, June 25th, 2016, two neighbor dogs were running loose and threatened family members at 402 W Hunt St. They viciously attacked my son with intent to kill. It is important to my family and others in this community that action be taken against owner Alison Ricks, that these dogs be permanently removed from our City, and that we be informed as to where these dogs are taken to what their outcome is.

  • Justice for Alton Sterling
Alton Sterling was a 37-year-old Black father of five selling CDs outside of a local store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He did not deserve to die. Yet here we are again. Another Black man slain by police. Another hashtag carrying the fury and pain of his community. And another family deep in mourning—in the same state that passed the 'Blue Lives Matter' bill to silence protests against police violence. On Tuesday night, Alton Sterling was selling CDs outside a local store, like he always does, when police arrived on the scene. The police tased him, held him down on the ground, and shot him in the chest and back. In the witness-recorded video, you can hear one of the officers shouting "If you f---ing move, I swear to God!" These officers have no respect for Black life, and must be held accountable. News just broke that the FBI and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division will be leading an independent investigation into his murder—and we have to keep up the pressure until they deliver accountability.

  • Stop disrespecting Black men killed by police -- Justice for #AltonSterling
Alton Sterling was a 37-year-old father of five, highly active in his community. His killing at the hands of Baton Rouge police officers—caught on camera and now seen around the world—has reignited calls for police accountability and an end to the police violence that disproportionately impacts communities of color across the country. Alton was shot and killed by police while selling CDs in a convenience store parking lot. People are already speaking out to demand police reform and accountability. And the Department of Justice has already stepped in to take over the investigation. But CNN has chosen—again—to criminalize Alton Sterling by using an old mugshot, despite the many recent photos of Alton on Facebook and those provided by his grieving family. This is not how Alton should be remembered or portrayed, and CNN’s continuous use of mugshots to depict the Black men killed by police reinforces dangerous, racist images of the same Black men who are brutalized by police. CNN must do better. Tell CNN to honor the memory of Alton Sterling and to stop using mugshots in their coverage of Black men shot and killed by police.

  • Demand justice for Alton Sterling
Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old Black man and father, was killed last night while selling CDs outside Triple S Food Mart in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was shot several times by white police officers while pinned to the ground. The U.S. Department of Justice just announced that they'll be leading an independent civil rights investigation into this horrible murder. But that isn't enough. The Baton Rouge Police Department has a shameful history of racial profiling. In 2014, the arrest rate for Black residents was more than twice that of white residents. And the department also has a history of failing to hold cops accountable for using force—out of 35 use-of-force complaints investigated in recent years, not one resulted in charges getting filed against the police officer. This is unacceptable. The Baton Rouge Police Department must take action to address the ongoing violence against Black residents at the hands of police. The two officers involved in Alton's death should be fired and charged for their role in this murder, and Police Chief Carl Dabadie Jr. must step down for failing to address a culture of racism within the Baton Rouge Police Department.

  • Eminent Domain For Mount Manresa
The overdevelopment of the Savos plan at the Mount Manresa site with 250 homes will jam the entrance of Staten Island with traffic. Our infrastructure in this already overdeveloped area from sewers to schools can't handle it. Flooding, lack of school seats, and danger to the community by crowding another community in an overdeveloped area must be considered in your decision to act now, before it is too late. The Growth Management task force missed the opportunity to protect the public with correct zoning, and residents of Staten Island will pay for this incredible oversight unless drastic action is taken by the City.

  • Public Safety Committee REQUIREMENT
I, as well as countless Americans, feel as though police officers and sheriffs need to be held MORE accountable for their actions and force used in EVERY arrest, case, traffic stop, etc., to ensure that their jobs of protecting Americans are fulfilled. We need to feel safer with the sight and presence of police officers rather than feeling more in danger with them.
