Foreign Policy magazine has reported that the Obama Administration has suspended US transfers of cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia following concerns over civilian harm from their use in Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition has been conducting a military campaign since March 2015. A senior U.S. official acknowledged reports that the Saudi-led coalition used cluster bombs "in areas in which civilians are alleged to have been present or in the vicinity." [1] Under U.S. law, countries that receive cluster bombs from the U.S. must agree that cluster munitions “will only be used against clearly defined military targets and will not be used where civilians are known to be present or in areas normally inhabited by civilians.” [2] Reps. Conyers (MI), Ellison (MN), Grijalva (AZ), Hank Johnson (GA), McGovern (MA), Lieu (CA), and Barbara Lee (CA) have introduced an amendment [3] to the Department of Defense Appropriations Act (H.R. 5293) which would permanently ban the transfer of cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia. On June 14, House Rules Committee agreed [4] that this amendment will be considered by the full House. Wall Street has no morals or limits in their quest for money and power. In fact, one of the original Wall Street hedge fund managers, Bruce Rose, CEO of Carrington Capital/Carrington Mortgage Services, has a hard working family of five in his sights – he wants their home and will stop at nothing to get it. Carmen Garcon is a registered nurse, a member of the Health Professionals & Allied Employees union (HPAE), and a devoted wife and mother of adult children, who live with her at her home in Linden. The Garcon’s purchased their home in June of 2005. Carmen and her husband were not first time homeowners; they previously had a positive experience with home ownership in Hillside. The home in Linden was meant to be a step up towards achieving the American Dream: a place where Carmen and her family could settle and call home for generations to come. However, the current servicer, Carrington Mortgage Services, LTD has turned the Garcon's dream into a living nightmare. Carmen and her husband bought the house for $300,000 and paid a down payment of $60,000. In late 2015, the Garcons successfully applied for a loan modification to ease the monthly cost of owning their home while supporting their young adult children, one who is a college student and the other who is looking for work in a competitive economy. The modification agreement clearly states a monthly sum of $2727.31, which the Garcons have paid faithfully. Carrington, however, continues to claim that the Garcons owe $3,485.00 each month, a crippling cost for any working class family. This attack on the Garcon family is not new to Carrington Mortgage Services. In fact, the company’s CEO and founder, Bruce Rose, has made a fortune from stealing the homes of hard working families all over the country. He has been featured in headlines across the country for his role in profiting from the foreclosure crisis he helped create! And Carmen Garcon and her family are his next target. But together, we can fight Bruce Rose and Carrington Capital. We, the People of Washington State, call on the legislature to change current testing policy to: Remove the graduation requirement from high school standardized tests. Clarify that standardized test scores are not to be used to retain or promote students in elementary or middle schools, leaving those decisions up to school staff and parents. Standardized testing can be a good way to see if students at every school in the state know what they should know, and can do what they should be able to do at appropriate grade levels. But there are many reasons why a student may not do well on a standardized test. These one-size-fits-all assessments of learning should not keep a student who has successfully earned the appropriate credits by passing high school coursework from receiving a high school diploma. The legislature should remove the graduation requirements of state testing and use the money saved to help adequately fund schools, as required by the state Supreme Court's McCleary ruling.

State officials are derelict in funding essential services and we all suffer, starting with children.

The School Leadership Council (SLC) is well familiar with our school’s heritage, traditions and values. We, therefore, support the mission of its Leadership Search Committee to help select the next principal for Science Park. We understand that the search committee arrived at a unanimous recommendation bringing well qualified candidates to the final interview stage. We further understand that a second committee, selected and trained by your Talent Department, also arrived at a unanimous decision creating high expectations for a successful conclusion. Given the clear and decisive outcome presented to you, Mr. Cerf, we urge you to bring the stalled leadership search process to a final decision, which honors the thorough and inclusive work begun by our Science Park SLC almost a year ago.

Our profoundly developmentally/physically disabled children/residents Anthony, Arthur, George, Paula and one additional resident will face a catastrophic future if Brook Street is no longer state funded/operated with the present staff. The petition is about inhumane heat levels affecting guards and inmates and their families and friends. There'd be less deaths, less health conditions and less turn key in employees. As well as less law suits. If they can keep conditions at a certain temperature in the other seasons why is the summer any different, When this is the most crucial month in Texas.

The gerrymandering of our congressional and legislative districts has led to the creation of "safe" districts for Republican and DFL candidates in Minnesota. This has allowed powerful — sometimes extremist — minorities in both parties to successfully run candidates whose political views are not broadly representative of the districts they intend to represent.

Saving a piece of America that can't be reproduced or made, and once it is gone, it's gone from everyone's life and the children will only read about it online

This petition is about the very damaging impact that recent hateful, bullying political speech has upon our children. I am a mother, grandmother, and professor of education and am very disturbed by the negative effect that many teachers have related regarding the influence this "language of hate" has had upon children's behavior and fear. Demeaning verbal attacks on people with disabilities, physical appearance, religious beliefs, and ethnic and cultural heritage has no place in our society. Our children hear this speech everyday and this language undermines schools' efforts to stop bullying behaviors and create responsible and respectful young citizens. A presidential candidate should be an exemplary role model for our children by using respectful and inclusive language. ENOUGH!!!!
