• No More Flints! Demand Safe Drinking Water for All!
Access to safe drinking water is a human right. The people of Flint, Michigan have been denied that right. And too many other communities across the country have aging water pipes and not enough resources to fix problems with their water systems. Many of our nation’s water systems are over 100 years old — and the EPA estimates that each year we are falling $22 billion short of what is needed to upgrade them. Without increased federal support for community water systems, more communities will be in crisis -- and Flint's crisis shows just how much is at stake. We can fix this by supporting legislation like HR 4479, the Families of Flint Act, that would provide grants to fix the infrastructure in Flint to ensure that lead and other contaminants that pose a threat to public health and the environment are no longer present in the drinking water. The bill would also provide the Flint community with health services to identify and help children with lead poisoning. We also need legislation to provide mandatory, long-term, dedicated funding to ensure access to safe, affordable, public water for all communities across the country.

  • TAKE ACTION: Tell DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign
Payday lenders lure desperate, mostly poor customers with the promise of quick money — but the reality is filled with hidden fees and sky-high interest rates. So why is the leader of the Democratic Party trying to protect this predatory form of lending by supporting a bill in Congress that seeks to delay the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau's pending rules on the industry? This position is in direct conflict with our values as a party. Take action in demanding that she resign from her position as DNC Chair.

  • A 4 way stop sign
Our son was struck and killed by a car on June 2, 2014 while crossing the street on Lorraine & Hicks to get the city bus to get to school early for extra tutoring for an upcoming test. I have to cross that street every day and do see cars speeding, as well as being reckless. Since the city does not want to put up a stop light, I hope that a 4 way stop sign will slow these cars down, and another family doesn't lose a love one. Please help me get the stop signs put in place

  • Tell Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin to block SB 180
If this bill passes, it will set a precedent that any state can protect those who wish to discriminate, so long as it is for religious reasons. Because it is impossible to prove whether a person's religious beliefs are "sincerely held", SB 180 would allow someone to refuse service to any person without repercussions.

  • Tell CNN, CBS, and NBC to give impartial political coverage
I am sick of watching the nightly news only to see inaccurate numbers being projected that include Superdelegates with no coverage of Bernie Sanders. I understand that Corporations run our major networks and hold their purse strings. I understand Donald Trump gives generously to their causes (as can be heard on the Anonymous hacked phone messages that were just released). The only way to get fairer coverage is to demand the networks act like the news organizations they pretend to be.

  • King Open students need longer recess!
My daughter and her friends have been coming from school more exhausted than usual, due to not having access to swings, climbing structures and slides during recess at the new building. A longer recess would allow them to travel to one of many parks near the new building and be ready to learn again.

  • Protect the citizen's right to recall their elected officials.
Defeat S.B. 267 and keep the right of citizens to recall elected officials for bad/illegal behavior. One example: If an elected mayor breaks laws on the last day of his term and has won re-election, he cannot be charged for crimes from his previous term. If this passes, it gives elected officials a blank slate to violate the conditions of the law right before their term ends. Strong cause to re-elect no one.

  • Congress: Criticize Turkey Govt. Abuses of Human Rights
The government's takeover of Zaman newspaper is the latest deeply troubling episode in the Turkish authorities’ ongoing onslaught on dissenting media, Amnesty International says. The week before, TV channel IMCTV was taken off air, silencing the only national news channel reporting a critical view of the situation in south-eastern Turkey, where round-the-clock curfews were imposed as armed clashes devastated entire towns. [1] Kurdish residents recently returned to the town of Cizre in south-eastern Turkey to find many of their homes obliterated by the government's military campaign to crush Kurdish rebels. [2] Some residents called the destruction a "second Kobani," referring to the Kurdish town in Syria that endured a brutal siege at the hands of ISIS. [3] Turkey's most prominent journalist compared it to Dresden in 1945. [4] The U.S. government characterizes Turkey as a close NATO ally, [5] so the U.S. government should use its influence to press the Turkish government to respect human rights. Urge your representatives in Congress to speak up about Turkish government abuses of human rights by signing our petition. • Demand Democratic Governors Support the Will of the People!
Already, three of the twenty-one Democratic governors in the USA are publicly pledging their support to a candidate who lost the primary/caucus in his state. We demand that they pledge their superdelegate vote to the winner of their state, whomever that may be.

  • Superdelegates should not be included when reporting on election results on CNN.
Superdelegates are not determined through the election process and should not be included in delegate counts reported during election coverage. Superdelegates may, and have been known to, change which candidate they support, often based on the popular vote. This practice is misleading, especially to less informed viewers.
