• Tax Reckless Wall Street Speculators!
Wall Street's reckless financial speculation caused the greatest economic collapse since the Great Depression, causing millions of Americans to lose their savings, their jobs, and their homes. Despite a $700 billion bailout to save the financial sector from itself, Wall Street still hasn’t learned its lesson. Today, Wall Street is up to its same old tricks—gambling with risky and unneeded financial products. We cannot allow Wall Street hedge funds to jeopardize our economic health and the hard-earned savings of working Americans for their personal gain. A small tax levied on financial speculation would rein in the worst offenders and allow us to invest in infrastructure projects that create jobs and help make quality education more affordable for young Americans.

  • This petition calls for the immediate resignation of Valeria Silva, the Superintendent of St. Pau...
PETITION BACKGROUND The St. Paul Public School District is in crisis. Daily headlines reporting student-on-student and student-on-teacher violence resulting from Valeria Silva’s failed disciplinary policies are just the proverbial tip of the iceberg. We can no longer tolerate unsafe learning conditions in our schools. Our children have a right to safe and productive classrooms. Additionally, we can no longer tolerate the draconian methods of threat and intimidation of our dedicated teachers by the Silva administration. Teachers are afraid to speak out for fear of public reprisal, suspension and loss of their employment. Valeria Silva has lost the trust, faith and respect of too many education professionals in the district to be an effective leader. Furthermore, Silva’s continued incompetence is putting our teachers and children at great risk; as a result, families have begun to send their children out of the district in response to the downward spiral in the quality of St. Paul’s educational infrastructure. The children, parents, teachers, and community members of St. Paul deserve a Superintendent who leads with integrity and honor in Minnesota’s capital city. Silva is clearly not that leader. Her tenure as Superintendent has been nothing less than an embarrassment to the city of St. Paul, and a great travesty for our children, who deserve a high-quality education free from the threat of violence and harm. Our teachers and administrative staff deserve respect and the freedom to meet students’ needs with innovative, compassionate and supported instruction and assistance. We, the undersigned, demand Silva resign immediately. If she will not, we demand the School Board remove her and replace her with a competent leader with the skills, temperament, and personal integrity to provide effective leadership for the St. Paul Public School District.

  • Impeach Senator Mitch McConnell
Senator McConnell has openly demonstrated his hatred and disrespect for President Barack Obama from day one. It began with his own declaration that he was going to make him a one-term president. McConnell has obstructed every action of the President through his first term, and continues to do so. Today, it has taken the form of making a pact with all Senate Republicans to not even speak with the President's nominee for the Supreme Court. Further, McConnell has decided there will be no confirmation hearings of the nominee until AFTER the 2016 election. McConnell is making a mockery of the Constitution, and has failed miserably to perform his duties as the head of the Senate. Additionally, McConnell shows a clear disrespect for Anton Scalia who would insist on following the Constitution, and for his replacement to be found as soon as possible.

  • Call for Valeria Silvia's resignation
This petition is created to send the citizens message to our school board of the vote of no confidence and lack of trust of the Valeria Silvia leadership team and the direction of her present reign. The massive exodus of families, her decisions on spending taxpayers monies, and the lack of direction with curriculum that focus our youth for college, school safety issues caused by her disrespect with cutting the support needed to manage or address these concerns that her leadership has caused. She has shown that she is inept and vengeful her approaches to address the above situations.

  • Prove an Oregon Public State Bank can eliminate "austerity" economics.
This petition will provide Congress with the information they need to bring back a vibrant economy to Oregon. Oregon will lead The Nation in lifting our citizens from poverty to prosperity. I am convinced, and I want the entire State of Oregon to know, that "sovereign money" and "banking in the public interest" are solutions to "austerity" economics. Austerity economics has devastated our country and the world. For example, look at Detroit. Neither Detroit nor this country is "bankrupt" if they have tax-paying citizens who want to work. State Banks are the solution to poverty and austerity. This is not a Ponzi scheme. A feasibility study can prove it.

  • Tell your Senators: Do your job and give Merrick Garland a hearing
About Merrick Garland:  Chief Judge Merrick Garland has more federal judicial experience than any other Supreme Court nominee in history. No one is more qualified to immediately serve on the Supreme Court.  He is one of the best appellate judges in the country – a brilliant, meticulous jurist with a knack for building consensus.  That has been true ever since his strong bipartisan confirmation in 1997 to the D.C. Circuit, where he has served as Chief Judge for over three years.  This approach has earned him bipartisan praise throughout his career – he was confirmed with majority support from both parties; Senator Orrin Hatch described him as “a consensus nominee,” and Chief Justice Roberts explained “anytime Judge Garland disagrees, you know you’re in a difficult area.”  Garland has distinguished himself as a jurist who plays it straight and decides every case based on what the law requires. In his own words: “The role of the court is to apply the law to the facts of the case before it—not to legislate, not to arrogate to itself the executive power, not to hand down advisory opinions on the issues of the day.”  Garland has dedicated his life to public service, choosing to serve his country and take on some of the most difficult and significant anti-terrorism cases in our nation’s history.  In the wake of the Oklahoma City bombing, Garland led the investigation and prosecution that ultimately brought Timothy McVeigh to justice – working with federal agents, rescue workers, local officials and others.  Garland also kept in close touch with Oklahoma City victims and their families throughout the case, and for several years afterwards as well.  Beyond the courtroom, Garland is a committed mentor. In addition to mentoring hundreds of law clerks throughout their careers and encouraging them to pursue public service, Garland has for almost twenty years, tutored second, third and fourth grade students in Northeast DC in reading and math.  Garland is a dedicated family man. He and his wife of nearly 30 years, Lynn, have two daughters, Becky and Jessie. The family enjoys skiing, hiking and canoeing, and together they have visited many of America’s national parks.

  • Bernie please run as an independent if you dont win the democratic nomination
Im starting this petition because its become clear the media has pushed voters to make a bad decision that will hurt the country by giving us a Trump presidency. I also believe as an independent Sanders will not have to worry about DNC rules and can participate in debates with enough pressure from voters especially if he keeps giving her slight wins.

  • Please Hillary: Give A Peace Speech at AIPAC
I am a Hillary supporter who is troubled by perception that she is a neoconservative. I write this because I support her but fear that hawkish speech at AIPAC will hurt her badly not only with Sander supporters but the base in general. America must be an honest broker for peace, not either side.

  • Unsubscribe to New York Times until after the general election
As an avid reader of the NY Times daily, I am disturbed by the Bias in reporting on Senator Bernie Sanders bid for the democratic nomination. In an effort to tell the press what we think of them telling us how the election should go, I am asking you to take a small bite out of their bottom line. Unsubscribe to the times until after the conclusion of the General Election. It's a small but worthwhile step to make your voice heard.
