Support Kentucky's Future by Restoring KCTCS FundingPlease join us in urging the legislature to resist making further cuts to the KCTCS budget. Community and technical colleges are more important than ever in economically-challenging times, and we should be making a stronger commitment to them--not cutting back!2,017 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Gordon Lester

Keep Atlantic Coast Pipeline from Invading Robeson County, NCFrom the research I have done, I have learned that fracking and leaking pipelines have damaged water systems and has been linked to serious health and environmental issues. I do not want to see my family, friends, and people within this community suffer from serious consequences caused by the oil industry. Let's let the White House, Congress, NC Governor, NC House and Senate know we are putting up a fight to keep our county and state fracking and pipeline free!73 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sarah Haithcock

Investigate Election Fraud by the Clinton Campaign in NevadaGetting the State of Nevada to look into potential wrong-doing with the Clinton Campaign, for violating Nev. Rev. Stat. §293.505(10) - which states: However, persons assisting voters in completing the application to register to vote by mail must not solicit a vote for or against a particular question or candidate; speak to a voter on the subject of marking his or her ballot for or against a particular question or candidate; or distribute any petition or other material concerning a candidate or question which will be on the ballot for the ensuing election, while registering an elector.2,023 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Pivot America

ICE: Let Pedro, Yefry, and Oscar go!During the last 2 weeks of January this year, Yefry, Oscar, and Pedro were aprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, on their way to school or work. Oscar and Pedro were both taken on their way to work. Yefry was detained at a school bus stop, before he could get on the school bus. It is inappropriate for ICE agents to be targeting young people and students at bus stops on the way to school or on their way to work. School bus stops, like schools should be considered safe places for young people, free of persecution or feeling terrorized. In 2014, these 3 young men braved the hard journey to the United States, fleeing violence and poor economic conditions in their home countries. They are hardworking students and deserve the right to stay here. Like many of the over 100,000 families that arrived here in 2014, they did not have adequate legal representation, when they applied for refugee status. Now they are facing deportation. If sent back to their home countries, they will be returning to dangerous and violent conditions, as well as poor economic prospects.702 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Kevin J. Rogers, Action NC

90 Days to LiveOur petition is about making a difference in this heroin epidemic. We are a grass roots group called the "Wayne County Heroin Prevention Task Force", and we are committed to helping not only our community, but making waves across our whole country, which will hopefully help in the future to lower our country's recidivism rates in our criminal justice systems, lower our overdose rates and help turn this sad chapter around into a brighter future.61 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gerald Margraf

Innocent Californian on Death Row! Save This Life!Is It Better That Ten Guilty Persons Go Free Than That One Innocent Person Be Convicted! But this innocent man is not just convicted, but is on death row. “I am the only person in the history of the state [California] to have five federal circuit judges say that ‘the state of California may be about to execute an innocent man,” said Cooper during an interview with NBC from the prison. “I’m not asking America as a whole, or any one person in particular, to believe me. Forget what I say. I’m asking people to believe those [judges].” Kevin Cooper. Five Federal Judges, after carefully reviewing the trial court's ruling, decided that Kevin Cooper did not commit the alleged crime. "The judges found that the prosecution and the Sheriff’s office destroyed, tampered with and hid from the defense significant evidence that the jury never heard. Finally, in a damning statement the judges wrote, “The State of California may be about to execute an innocent man.” "Death row inmate Kevin Cooper is up for execution in California for a brutal murder that occurred in 1983. Cooper was sentenced to death in 1985 for the brutal murder of a family in the Chino Hills suburb of Los Angeles. Police contend that Cooper killed Douglas and Peggy Ryen, their 10-year-old daughter Jessica, and 10-year-old Chris Hughes, who was staying with the family the night of the murders. There was one survivor, a then 8-year-old Josh Ryen who had his throat cut and was left for dead. When Josh Ryen recovered from his injuries, he stated that it was three white or Hispanic men that attacked and killed his family and that Cooper was not involved. This started a chain of events that reveal a 30 year cover up and blatant falsification of evidence by police and the prosecutor’s office in San Bernadino County. Copper’s execution is scheduled for this month [February 2016]." Tell the California House, Senate, and the Governor of California to re-consider Kevin's execution decision. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Cooper_(inmate) Thank you! Tell the SSCCC to stop ignoring their governing documents and to increase transparency.Since the beginning of the 2015-2016 term, the SSCCC has continuously failed to follow their governing documents. No agenda during the current term has been sent out in compliance with our bylaws. Every agenda has been sent out less than the five (5) calendar days required. Failure to follow our governing documents forced the SSCCC to invalidate elections this term. Failure to follow our governing documents has created a situation where board recognized Student Body Organizations were not recognized at Fall 2015 General Assembly. The SSCCC has failed to follow rules set in place by the the Council itself. Meeting times were not adequately reflected based on the Council’s decision to extend meeting times. The SSCCC has not posted minutes to their website since the September meeting. The SSCCC routinely sends out agendas without completed supplementary documents available for public inspection before the day of the meeting. Students cannot call into meetings with an informed viewpoint. The SSCCC routinely labels resolutions infeasible due to lack of interest in implementation. The SSCCC routinely ignores the student voice by not implementing resolutions. We, the students of the California Community College system, demand the SSCCC follow their governing documents, implement resolutions fairly, and increase transparency at all organizational levels.50 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christopher Recouvreur

Tell Congress: Don't make it harder to prosecute bank fraud.Systematic fraud on Wall Street helped spark a financial crisis in 2008 that cost millions of Americans their jobs and their homes. But federal prosecutors didn’t put a single Wall Street executive in jail. Not one. Instead, spineless regulators told them to pay a fine and asked them nicely not to do it again. It turned into a “get out of jail free” card for the big banks that break the law. You’d think the big banks would be happy with an enforcement system that is so tepid that they could bake fines into the cost of doing business instead of going to jail. But nope, the banks are demanding even less oversight. This week, Wall Street’s buddies in Congress are lining up behind a bill to make it harder to prosecute bank fraud. You heard that right: The House of Representatives will vote this week on the Financial Institution Customer Protection Act, a bill that would make it even tougher to investigate and prosecute bank fraud. Wall Street and their Washington friends don’t think you’re paying attention to what’s going on in Congress this week. They don’t think you’ll care about a complicated, jargon-filled bill that will weaken the rules for corporate criminals. Let’s show Wall Street that the American people are watching – and we want tougher enforcement on banks that break the law, not weaker. Tell Congress to vote NO on Financial Institution Customer Protection Act this week.120 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Elizabeth Warren, U.S. Senator

Wasserman Schultz: Debate Tim Canova on TPPThe Trans Pacific Partnership agreement was signed on Feb. 3. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren has called on Congress to reject the agreement. "I hope Congress will use its constitutional authority to stop this deal before it makes things even worse and even more dangerous for America's hardest-working families," Warren said on Feb. 2. [1] DNC chair and Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was one of only 28 House Democrats to vote for "fast track" legislation enabling the TPP negotiations to go forward. [2] Her stance on the final TPP agreement will likely have a decisive impact on the Congressional debate. Wasserman Schultz has a Democratic primary opponent, Tim Canova, who is a sharp critic of the TPP agreement. [3] A debate on the TPP between Wasserman Schultz and Canova will help educate and engage the broad public on the issues at stake. Doctors Without Borders [MSF] says that the TPP deal is "the worst trade deal ever for access to medicines and will make life-saving treatments unaffordable for those who need them most." [4] Urge Debbie Wasserman Schultz to agree to debate Tim Canova on the TPP by signing our petition.
