• Mayor Garcetti: No New Fossil Fuel Infrastructure in Los Angeles, CA
The rapid development of fossil fuel resources in the western U.S. and Canada has resulted in numerous proposed fossil fuel infrastructure projects up and down the West Coast. These fossil fuel infrastructure projects pose significant risks to the health and safety of people and their environment, and threaten the livability of their communities. Coal, oil and gas carried out of west coast ports would carry as much carbon annually as five Keystone XL pipelines. Given the urgency of the threat posed to people in Los Angeles by existing fossil fuel infrastructure, where leaks and spills are too common, and the risk to our global environment, we urge you to act on this issue now by pledging to build no new fossil fuel infrastructure in Los Angeles.

  • Help keep my German Shepherds safe!
Because I live on a corner, I am subjected to foot traffic on three sides of my home. The neighborhood in which I live has many families living in single-family homes. They allow their pets to roam off-leash and some keep their pet in their front yard which faces my back yard. Neighbor's cats wander the streets constantly. My dogs are my life. Not having sufficient barrier between us and constant traffic is a major concern. I believe I have the right to keep myself and my pets as safe as other homes who do not live on a corner. In fact, I would say that I deserve more protection because I do live on a corner.

  • Call for Mandatory Psychological Evaluation/Treatment for White Cops
This petition is to underscore the obvious need for white police officers to undergo psychiatric and psychological evaluation and treatment for their unreasonable phobias about Black men, (women), and children. The past four years especially there have been incidents where there was no basis for fear. I am an African American female and am tired of watching the murders by white law enforcers and hearing their same lame justification for murder.

We are asking for legislators to lead WSDOT to make these changes to the I-405 Express Toll Lanes: 1. Eliminate the need for a FlexPass to be a carpool in the ETL 2. Eliminate all tolling and restore I-405 ETL to standard 2+ carpool lanes. 3. Eliminate the double lines and allow drivers the freedom to enter/exit those lanes as they see the need. 4. Allow all drivers to use the carpool lanes for free during late night hours as it was before. These changes will result in: 1. Increased participation in carpools 2. Better utilization of all 5 lanes of traffic while still meeting performance goals for the Federal funding 3. Improved overall drive times for everyone at all times, regardless of the distance they are traveling, their ability to be a carpool or their ability to pay the toll 4. Increased safety 5. Increased public satisfaction 6. Lower operating costs of the highway

  • Congress: Don't Hand Wall Street an Early Holiday Bonus
Once again, Wall Street hopes to attach dangerous and widely unpopular deregulation measures to a “must-pass” omnibus spending bill. Lobbyists are telling their allies they’re putting the “pedal to the metal” and going “all out” to get their way. As a part of their frenzied push, they’re also taking cheap shots at Senator Elizabeth Warren and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau with ridiculously over-the-top attack ads. The banks know the year-end spending bill is their best shot – so they’re working every angle they can. Don’t let them succeed. Tell your representatives in Washington that they need to stand up for consumers, and for the public, and not let Wall Street take the budget hostage.

  • Congress: Reject Pro-Settlement Provisions on Ex-Im Bank
It's bad enough that the Export-Import Bank is corporate welfare, crony capitalism supported by Members of Congress in exchange for campaign contributions from the corporations that benefit from this taxpayer-funded subsidy. But now some Members of Congress are trying to attach a provision to the re-authorization of the Export-Import Bank that would promote Israeli settlements in the West Bank [1], which former US peace envoy [2] Martin Indyk has acknowledged are the key obstacle to a diplomatic resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict. The Obama Administration is opposed to Congress passing such pro-settlement provisions. Urge Members of Congress to oppose attaching pro-settlement provisions to re-authorization of the Ex-Im Bank, and to oppose re-authorization of the Ex-Im Bank if pro-settlement provisions are attached, by signing our petition.
