• Reject Mitch "The Reaper" McConnell and the GOP's obstruction
The New Hampshire Progressive Coalition is deeply disappointed, though not at all surprised, by the decision by a majority of Republicans in the US Senate to acquit Donald Trump of the crimes for which he is obviously and demonstrably guilty. This acquittal, undertaken by a group of officials who were not only jurors and judges, but also witnesses to and victims of the charged crime, should drive home an understanding among people of good will that the Republican party as a whole has abandoned all semblance of decency, fairness, and fealty to the rule of law and the tenets of democracy. Given the behavior of the Republicans, and taking them at their word, we fully expect the GOP to be as resistant as possible to any and every initiative that the Biden Administration and the Democrats propose. Though Democrats hold a majority, it is a slim one that requires that all Democratic representatives and senators #LinkArms and stand together.

  • Urge Biden to Reverse Trump’s Deadly Obstruction of Global COVID-19 Vaccines
Millions of people around the world may not get COVID-19 vaccines until as late as 2024--unless President Biden reverses the Trump administration’s deadly Big Pharma boondoggle at the World Trade Organization (WTO).

  • History Demands Witnesses: Tell Democrats to call witnesses in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump
It is crucial- perhaps for the outcome of this trial, but certainly for the historical record- that the American public get the fullest possible account of the events that shaped the violent siege on our democracy on January 6th. The video evidence provided by the House impeachment managers was powerful, but not sufficient. The managers themselves referred to multiple third parties who could be called, and to information that is still not available. This is the first draft of history- we need the truth. Senators should demand witnesses, and make time to depose them and hear their testimony.

  • Facebook, We Need to Talk.
In a world full of walls, social media is a powerful tool to help us share our stories and support one another and our common humanity — no matter our religion, race or nationality. We know Facebook is considering its responsibility to implement guardrails to keep the platform safe and accessible for us to connect across space and difference. But we are deeply concerned about Facebook's proposed revision of its hate speech policy to consider "Zionist" as a proxy for "Jew" or "Jewish." The proposed policy would too easily mischaracterize conversations about Zionists — and by extension, Zionism — as inherently antisemitic, harming Facebook users and undermining efforts to dismantle real antisemitism and all forms of racism, extremism and oppression. We cannot dismantle antisemitism if we are blocked from voicing our opinions and sharing our experiences with each other. We can discuss, debate and even disagree, as long as we share the belief that all of us deserve safety, freedom, and dignity. We ask Facebook to not erect barriers impeding users from connecting with each other as we engage in this work. This is the wrong solution to a real and important problem: those who fuel antisemitism online will continue doing so, with or without the word “Zionist.” In fact, many antisemites, especially among white supremacists and evangelical Christian Zionists, explicitly support Zionism and Israel, while engaging in speech and actions that dehumanize, insult, and isolate Jewish people. Importantly, this move will prohibit Palestinians from sharing their daily experiences and histories with the world, be it a photo of the keys to their grandparent’s house lost when attacked by Zionist militias in 1948, or a livestream of Zionist settlers attacking their olive trees in 2021. And it would prevent Jewish users from discussing their relationships to Zionist political ideology. Facebook scrutinizing specific words won’t keep any of us safe, but it will prevent us from connecting on the political issues important to all of us and block us from holding people and governments accountable for their policies and actions. The current Israeli government, and some of its supporters, have demanded that Facebook add “Zionist” to its hate speech policy. This would shut down conversations about accountability for policies and actions that harm Palestinians. Facebook should refuse to cooperate with those who seek to build more walls to keep us apart. We call on Facebook to not add “Zionist” as a protected category in its hate speech policy.

  • Unbundle FOX and Newsmax
It is important because FOX and Newsmax have been spreading damaging propaganda and hate for too long and not only has it lead to a divided nation but it has fostered white supremacy and a deadly insurrection on January 6th in repeating falsehoods about voter fraud for months. Our monthly payments should not pay their salaries.

  • Tell President Biden: Fix the USPS crisis
Last year, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy made headlines for his efforts to bring the Postal Service to a grinding halt. DeJoy -- a GOP mega-donor with no previous USPS experience -- became a pawn in ex-President Trump’s scheme to undermine vote-by-mail by sabotaging the Postal Service. Trump himself admitted this was his plan -- when he said he was against funding the USPS because “they need that money in order to make the Post Office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots.” [1] And though millions of Americans were able to vote successfully by mail last fall -- one of the reasons we saw record voter turnout, despite the pandemic -- DeJoy has proven that he cannot be trusted with the enormous responsibility of running the USPS. Millions of Americans are still counting on the Postal Service to safely deliver their paychecks, life-saving medications, letters from their loved ones, and more. That’s why President Biden must make defending this cherished institution a top priority. Biden himself doesn’t have the power to fire DeJoy directly -- that responsibility lies with the USPS Board of Governors. But Biden can appoint new members to the Board -- and create a majority bloc that can fire and replace DeJoy. As long as DeJoy is in charge, the integrity of the Postal Service is at risk. If you agree that Biden should prioritize fixing Trump’s manufactured USPS crisis and make sure DeJoy is fired -- add your name today. 1) https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/08/12/postal-service-ballots-dejoy/

  • President Biden: Take Action for Immigrant Rights!
We, the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee, call on President Biden to take action for immigrant rights. We will hold President Biden accountable to the immigrant rights reforms he already promised AND also demand that he works to demilitarize the border and provide legalization for all. We have not forgotten the three million people who were deported under the Obama-Biden administration. Justice today does not only look like reversing anti-immigrant policies but actively seeks to repair the harm that has already been done to countless families. MIRAC will continue to push for legalization for all and an end to the whole system that profits from the mass-incarceration and the mass-deportation of immigrants, and also from the superexploitation of the labor of immigrants who live under constant fear of deportation. Please sign our petition to tell President Joe Biden to meet these demands! If you would like to get involved with MIRAC, please provide your email here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1uUMnByB-S6JGMOd7q9wgyavae_5sXwQEcpsbTOKFOgk/edit

  • Take the Post Office Back: Appoint new bosses who can fire Louis DeJoy
The post office is a public good. The USPS delivers to every address regardless of location, even if you live somewhere rural or hard to access. They deliver essential life saving prescription medication, and they are the backbone of our democracy, especially during this pandemic. Over 100 million ballots were delivered during this past election, and during the pandemic, packages have continued to be delivered for small businesses and families alike. The USPS keeps our society going and has been the truest of essential services. Despite all this, Louis DeJoy deliberately sabotaged the functioning of the USPS. DeJoy eliminated overtime pay, reduced retail hours, closed and consolidated post office locations, began removing mail-sorting machines before the election, and implemented tactics to slow down delivery speeds. These delays disproportionately targeted communities of color, which added insult to injury after decades of voter suppression against Black and non-Black communities of color.(1) DeJoy has said that he’s working on a ten year plan for the post office that will come out soon, and we can expect it to feature more price hikes and service cuts, more attacks against Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and rural communities, and other measures to carry out Trump’s OMB report calling for the post office to be privatized and sold for parts. He's already announced plans to cut service to Alaska, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii.(2) The public pressure is working. A broad coalition formed to come to the defense of the post office this summer, and there were over 1100 #SaveThePostOffice events at local post offices across the country. Both the House and the Senate called DeJoy to testify about the service cuts in August. Federal Court Judge Stanley Bastian called DeJoy’s changes, “a politically motivated attack on the efficiency of the Postal Service.” After public outcry, our advocacy, and multiple lawsuits, DeJoy was pressured into reversing all slowdown changes before election day. But DeJoy immediately began reinstating those changes on November 4. The stakes couldn’t be higher: we saw this holiday season the effects of Louis DeJoy’s project to slow down the mail, jack up prices, and privatize the post office, in the middle of a pandemic that is decimating the postal workforce. In the lead-up to the holidays, 20,000 postal workers either tested positive for COVID-19 or were quarantining due to exposure. Facing an astonishing 100% increase in holiday package volume due to COVID, the private carriers FedEx and UPS got overwhelmed, cut off large retailers, and left it to the USPS to deliver. Postal workers were pushed to the breaking point, working double shifts to deliver our packages. The volume increase was entirely predictable, and a different Postmaster General would have planned for it. If we don’t stop Louis DeJoy, a national treasure will be lost. That’s why in his first 100 days in office, President Biden and the Senate need to fill the empty seats on the Postal Board of Governors with with pro-post office members who will prioritize the USPS’s mandate to serve all of us, and stop DeJoy’s ideological project to kill the agency in its tracks. • President Biden keep your promise: Don't put pharma profits over billions of lives
Unless policies change, billions of people around the world, especially in low- and middle-income countries will not get access to a COVID-19 vaccine until 2024. This is a threat to people around the world, to the US, and to the entire global economy. We can address this problem by ensuring that intellectual property restrictions do not interfere with vaccine access. President Biden himself committed to share vaccine technology with other countries when asked this past summer by activist Ady Barkan. One critical way to remove barriers to vaccine access is to reverse the Trump administration’s deadly opposition to the WTO TRIPS Waiver proposal. U.S. opposition to this waiver, a hallmark of the Trump administration’s COVID-19 failure, is a huge roadblock to efforts to produce and manufacture accessible and affordable vaccines for all. The waiver would allow for the production of generic versions of vaccines and treatments necessary to end the COVID-19 pandemic and save lives worldwide. The people of the U.S. stand with South Africa, India, and over 100 other countries: we want President Biden to stop opposing this proposal to temporarily waive World Trade Organization (WTO) rules that protect pharmaceutical corporation profits over human health.
