• Help with Jessica's Justice
My daughter Jessica was murdered by her drug dealer, he wants everyone to believe she died of an overdose, the Tyngsboro Police and Massachusettes State Troopers both believe this is the case. Jessicas' dealer had threatened to kill her in this manner on more than one occassion, he followed through with his threats on 10/5/14. Massuchusettes does not prosecute the Supplieor/Dealer I was told by the Massachusettes State Trooper and the Tyngsboro Police involed with the case. There is a nationwide epidemic of Heroin overdoses and there are many states that are prosecuting the dealer/ supplier. On 1/25/15, two women in Aurora, IN were charged with Reckless Homicide. They allegedly supplied drugs that ultimately caused the death of another person. The edition of the Chicago Tribune dated 1/29/15 stated in part, that Andrea Neilsen was found guilty by a jury on January 28, 2015 of Drug Induced Homicide in connection with the death of Abbey Nordmeyer. Also on January 29, 2015, 24 Hour News 8 from Wood, MI, reported that Kevin Obi was convicted in 2004 of supplying the drug that caused the death of a 21 year old young lady. Kevin Obi was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his crime. Please help my family get the Justice that our loved one so deserves.

  • SAVE PARADISE DON'T PUT UP A PARKING LOT
Glynn County government has long denied residents adequate means of finding out about applications for development that go before the Island Planning Commission. The IPC, whose members are appointed by the Glynn County Board of Governors, routinely approves high-density development with inadequate traffic studies and ill-advised variances to established county ordinances. The welfare and privacy of residents is ignored, and their quality of life is severely impacted, as small shaded island roads are burdened with increasingly heavy traffic. We demand that Glynn County Government use the time provided by the moratorium on all pending applications for development and all future applications until such time as a Tree ordinance is created, and outdated County ordinances have been updated to serve the public interest. Moreover, we demand that the GCC and the IPC revise their means of advertising development applications and zoning changes such that the entire population of Glynn County is alerted when such applications come within their purview. We the people of Glynn County demand to be informed in advance whenever any developer or any County department proposes to clear-cut land, cut marsh buffers, or cut down any trees whether ancient Live Oaks or other hardwood species. We the people demand that the public shall be consulted and their approval secured before another roundabout is built. We demand that the Glynn County Board of Commissioners shall not pave parking lots to the detriment of our magnificent beaches and that beach parking will be forever free to the public.

  • Ketchum Mayor: Keep the Farmers’ Market at its current location
I am a supporter of the Ketchum farmers’ market. The seasonal weekly market plays an important role in Ketchum’s vibrant town core and should not be prompted to relocate by the City of Ketchum, its mayor, or other departments without public input. The City block that it has occupied for the past eight years was designed and constructed with activities such as the farmers’ market in mind and is accomplishing the goal of invigorating downtown Ketchum. I would like to continue to attend the market at its current location. I appreciate the live music and festive atmosphere that this event provides on Tuesday afternoons throughout the summer. It is part of the charm and appeal of downtown Ketchum. I support my farmers’ market and so should the City of Ketchum.

  • Gov. Walker and AG Schimel: Withdraw Wisconsin from this partisan lawsuit attacking immigrants!
Thousands of undocumented immigrant families in Wisconsin will soon have a chance to be a part of the American Dream--but Governor Scott Walker and Attorney General Brad Schimel are determined to get in the way. With Republicans in Congress failing to pass immigration reform, President Obama was forced to act on his own. Now immigrant families will soon have a chance to come forward and register, get permits to work legally and contribute to our system, and finally get a chance to live without the daily fear of deportation. But rather than embracing immigrants, Gov. Walker and AG Schimel have joined in a partisan lawsuit against the federal government over the President’s program. Most legal experts agree that this lawsuit is a political stunt and has no legal standing. It’s nothing more than a mean-spirited attack on Wisconsin immigrants and their families. Gov. Walker is often mentioned as a Republican contender for President in 2016, and the demographics show no Republican can win without the Latino vote. If he does win, he’ll be the person to decide what happens with DACA and DAPA. Gov. Walker must commit to supporting DACA and DAPA now by removing Wisconsin from this lawsuit. Immigrants are a part of the Wisconsin community and deserve a chance to work hard, contribute, and be together. Tell Gov. Walker and AG Schimel to drop their names from this partisan lawsuit, stop attacking our state’s immigrant families, and be on the right side of history.

  • Keep Sergeant Curtin in Venice
Sergeant Curtin will be promoted to Lieutenant any time now. It is standard protocol within LAPD to be transferred when promoted. Sergeant Curtin is instrumental to the Venice community and losing her will have a negative impact on the community and the progress made within LAPD in the Pacific Division.

  • Ben Sasse: End the War on Net Neutrality
FCC Chairman Wheeler has announced that the FCC will preserve a free and open Internet by classifying it as a utility. This will keep the World Wide Web free from corporate manipulation and protect access for all. In response, Senator Sasse has started a petition to end net neutrality. Sasse has received thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from telecommunications companies and internet service providers. Now they want something from him: bringing an end to net neutrality so they can charge users more for what they use. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? 1. A free and open internet is the single greatest technology of our time, and control should not be at the mercy of corporations. 2. A free and open internet stimulates ISP competition. 3. A free and open internet helps prevent unfair pricing practices. 4. A free and open internet promotes innovation. 5. A free and open internet promotes the spread of ideas. 6. A free and open internet drives entrepreneurship. 7. A free and open internet protects free speech. Classifying the internet as a utility will promote competition and prevent telecommunication companies from monopolizing the market against start ups and entrepreneurs. • Tell Gov. Paul LePage: Apologize for attacking Maine's families!
Just when we thought anti-immigrant rhetoric couldn’t get any uglier or inflammatory, in steps Republican Governor Paul LePage of Maine. During a speech this week, Gov. LePage claimed that though he’s “compassionate about illegal aliens,” their presence in Maine could lead to an “uptick of hepatitis C, HIV and tuberculosis.” Are you kidding me? Who says that? Gov. LePage made his claims during a prepared speech at his annual State of the State address. His remarks weren’t just fact-free, they were reckless. It’s just the latest example of Republican leaders blaming immigrants for everything from an Ebola scare, to measles (even though, according to ThinkProgress, immigrants from Central America are vaccinated at higher rates than native-born Americans). Immigrants are a part of Maine’s fabric. This state is home to almost 50,000 immigrants, and they and their families contribute tens of millions of dollars in taxes to the state’s economy every year. They deserve to be welcomed to Maine, not vilified by elected officials like Gov. LePage. Tell Governor Paul LePage: Shame on you for making up inflammatory rhetoric to attack Maine’s immigrants!

  • Lie of SECURING 10 Billion to fix VA is now being
I'm doing this to raise awareness that our government is NOT going to send the money promised to FIX THE VA. The 10 billion dollars will not go to the Veteran's but will be used for other areas. Remember, VETERANS DIED BECAUSE OF LACK FUNDS TO ADD STAFFING OR THE CHOICE TO SEE A PROVIDER CLOSER TO THEM. The whole 10 billion dollars should go, (AS PROMISED) to the veterans. Please just take 60 SECONDS to help me, veterans and for those who are currently serving.

  • No Ferguson in Berkeley! Hold police accountable for abusive behavior, and end Berkeley's modern-...
There is a pervasive pattern of racially abusive policing and profiling in Berkeley, as well as many other forms of racial inequality. On December 6, a peaceful gathering protesting police abuses nationwide was teargassed, pepper-sprayed, shot with projectiles, and beaten with batons. Mayor Bates and the City Council majority continue to put off addressing these long-term issues in a meaningful way and have postponed consideration of Councilmember Arreguin's proposals twice in the last month. The next City Council meeting is February 10, and we want Mayor Bates to know it's time for real action. All of us in the Bay Area need to come together to address these issues, since any of us could be negatively impacted by the police in a nearby city, or even in our own city because of the mutual aid agreements between cities. Berkeley has a reputation for being progressive -- we need to be leaders on these issues, rather than falling further and further behind. Read below for more background and specific actions we want to see taken. Together our voices are powerful. We can make a difference if we stand up and speak out on these issues of racial justice and freedom of speech. The 2013 NAACP report drew a clear picture of racial discrimination and disparities in Berkeley, making specific and actionable recommendations, yet Mayor Bates has not acted. Encouraging minority youth to become police officers, supporting a federal ban on profiling, and holding regional meetings on these issues may be positive steps but they are far from sufficient. We want real action HERE and NOW in Berkeley. 1. Conduct a Police Review Commission investigation into the actions of the police on December 6, when peaceful protesters – including reporters and the elderly -- were teargassed, beaten with batons, pepper-sprayed, and struck with projectiles. 2. Support the national demands put out by Ferguson Action. 3. Freeze now, and then abolish, the use of teargas, projectiles, and over-the-head baton strikes in crowd management and ban military weaponry and equipment in the Berkeley Police Department, and require that mutual aid agencies meet Berkeley’s standards of conduct. 4. Ban physical assaults on members of the media. 5. Create a broad community process to address the pattern of profiling and racially abusive policing in Berkeley as well as inequities in housing, employment, education, and health faced by African-Americans. 6. Ban undercover officers from covering their faces, and enforce the ban on uniformed officers covering their badges. 7. Strengthen the Police Review Commission to the full extent allowed by state law. 8. Press for independent prosecutors to investigate and prosecute crimes by police. 9. Enforce the implementation, at long last, of the Fair and Impartial Policing policy including demographic data collection, and make the first round of data public, with an analysis by race, by August 1. 10. Review recommendations in People's Investigation of In-Custody Death of Kayla Moore, including extension of mental health services to replace police as first responders in mental health crises.

  • Ban Oil Trains in Philadelphia
Last weekend another train carrying crude oil derailed in South Philadelphia, within a mile of thousands of homes. Just like last year, when a train derailed off the tracks in Philly and dangled over I-76, the city’s residents got lucky and there was no significant damage and no one was hurt. The National Safety Review Board has recommended these highly explosive oil trains avoid highly populated areas and rolling by schools, hospitals, and playgrounds. Unfortunately, these trains are filled with Bakken crude oil, a highly combustible substance, and they have a lengthy track record of horrendous accidents and near misses. Just this week, an oil train crashed in West Virginia with the explosion sending flames shooting 300 feet in the air and requiring the evacuation of thousands of people. A disaster in Quebec in 2013 cost 47 people their lives. Throughout Pennsylvania and across the nation, there have been dozens of oil train accidents and close calls in the last few years. This disaster is a clear reminder that we need to get off oil. In the meantime though, we should ban these oil trains from traveling through our cities, before it is too late.
