We want the Muncie Community School Board of Trustees to vote against paying outside nonlocal companies to manage school food services and sending money out of Muncie and the local economy for any school service. Non bargaining Workers of the Muncie Community Schools do not want to be outsourced to an outside company or even a foreign company and lose local jobs. Hold the school administration accountable for management of school services instead of approving an approach that will have long-term negative effects on the community.

Boehner's treacherous invitation to Netanyahu verges on treason. Netanyahu's goal is to use Boehner to sabotage the Iranian Nuclear Disarmament talks. Netanyahu is facing an election in March. This speech is clearly a campaign stunt that will be used to justify his continuing persecution of the Palestinians. It is the constitutional responsibility of the President to conduct foreign policy. There are well-established protocols by which an invitation would be extended through the State Department so that America presents a unified diplomatic position to the world. Democratic Representatives must boycott this speech and remain united behind the President. Failure to do so will make the United States appear to be controlled by Israeli interests further disrupting efforts to achieve Peace in the Middle East.

The Trans Pacific Partnership will give international corporations veto power over our laws. It will prevent us from doing what we need to do as a nation to get out of this economic crisis. If it is rammed through now, the next President won't be able to do what has to be done. Anyone who plans to be President better stop this treaty , or what's the point?

In 2014, residents of North Braddock were approached to lease their land for gas development. Fracking began to be seen and promoted by some as the cure for our borough's struggling financial issues. In response, some of us banded together to form a community group, North Braddock Residents For Our Future. We already have steel mill pollution to contend with, and do not want another industrial operation near our homes. We have seen the harm that fracking has brought to communities all over Pennsylvania. We want to find ways to bring positive and lasting change to our borough and we want to tell our local government, we say YES to our health and safety, and NO to fracking in North Braddock.

The USDA approved Monsanto’s new genetically engineered cotton and soybeans that are resistant to dicamba, an herbicide that has been known to cause reproductive and developmental harm. Herbicides like this are poisoning our soil and water and pose a threat to the health of our families, environment, and wildlife. We need less toxic herbicides and pesticides in our food system, not more. But now that these herbicide-resistant seeds have been approved, more toxic chemicals on the food we eat every day could be imminent. We need to push back and tell the USDA that their approval of these seeds is unacceptable.

I was fired from the McDonald’s where I worked because I don't "fit the profile." What profile? Well, my bosses didn't explain, but they did say things like, "There are too many black people in the store." And: "We need to get the ghetto out of the store." And: "It's dark in here and needs more lightening." More than a dozen of my African American coworkers were fired with me - and many of us are filing suit against McDonald's to stop this kind of racist harassment.

The SB City Plan Commission recommended the action (3-2)- now it is in the hands of the City Council. One fact continually gets buried = The City of Sturgeon Bay owns that property. They are illegally changing zones for what is now just an interested party. Our Alderman are elected to represent our voice, let them hear us: We the people of the City of Sturgeon Bay REFUSE TO SELL!

Opposition to Hotel/Convention Center Development in Oak Mountain State Park

My oldest child, Nicholas Rossini, age 22, agreed to go to treatment in July 2014, after we had a family intervention. We spent two weeks of fighting with insurance company to keep him in treatment, but they ultimately denied coverage for further treatment. Nicholas would have stayed a year if he was not forced to leave based upon the insurance denial. He was so tired of living that way! Immediately preceding his untimely death, he got a job, got engaged and started a family. He was so happy! All seemed well until he got laid off in November. He became depressed, relapsed and died, January 4, 2015 from a heroin overdose. His child is due to be born July 5, 2015. My grandchild will never know his father. In addition to Nicholas, I have two other children. My son Anthony, 20, is a student at The University of Maine and my daughter Jessica is a sixth grader. Our family has been torn apart and we are all completely heartbroken. Every day in this country 119 people die from drug overdose, and another 6,748 are treated in emergency rooms. That averages out to an overdose related hospitalization every 13 seconds and an overdose death every 13 minutes. Drug overdose is now the leading cause of accidental death in the United States, outstripping traffic fatalities or gun homicides. And every year it gets worse. In addition to the terrible human toll, substance abuse costs the U.S. economy over $600 billion annually. Effective treatment can dramatically reduce these costs. According to several conservative estimates, every dollar invested in addiction treatment programs yields a return of between $4 and $7 in reduced drug-related crime, criminal justice costs, and theft. When savings related to healthcare are included, total savings can exceed costs by a ratio of 12 to 1. Major savings to the individual and to society also stem from fewer interpersonal conflicts; greater workplace productivity; and fewer drug-related accidents, including overdoses and deaths. My son Nicholas Rossini agreed to receive treatment for his addiction and after only a few short weeks in treatment his insurance company denied coverage for further treatment! Nicholas paid the ultimate price with his life base on this insurance denial. The Affordable Care Act must be amended to provide for a minimum of Ninety (90) days inpatient drug or alcohol treatment up to a maximum of One Hundred Eighty (180) days per year at a facility certified to provide such care by the Secretary of Health of the state in which it is located. Research tells us that effective inpatient treatment leads to long term sobriety and fewer relapses. In too many cases, the treatment was insufficient and, therefore, ineffective. The relapse rate for people suffering from addiction who have undergone only short-term detox is between 40 and 90 percent, and often ends with deadly consequences. I created this Petition in order to request the assistance of The Georgia State House, The Georgia State Senate, Governor Nathan Deal, The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack Obama to engage in real and immediate action to fight and save the lives of people of our great nation who are battling this disease. This is an epidemic and one of the largest in history. It is my hope to use this to develop new programs with better long term success rates so that no other mother or family has to endure the heartache and grief that I experience daily since my son died. For these reasons, I respectfully request that you sponsor and enact the Proposed Amendments to the Affordable Care Act.

The Republicans lack any sense of decorum whatsoever and enough is enough!

We were the victims of an extortion demand and death threat, and we do not feel that we were treated fairly during the investigation, the investigation was not handled professionally, nor was the threat taken seriously and our safety the first priority. There currently does not exist an independent citizen committee to review cases such as ours, and we think this is the first step to bring attention to the need for such a committee.
