PETITION BACKGROUND Since 2010 the U.S. along with eleven other Pacific Rim countries have been negotiating in secret a trade agreement with lobbyists representing over five hundred multi-national corporations. This trade agreement will fundamentally compromise our country’s ability to protect consumer rights, worker’s rights, the environment and the power of local communities to implement laws and regulations that are in their best interest. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is nothing more than a blatant attempt to allow multi-national corporations to deregulate themselves in manner which would not be possible using normal legislative processes. Simply put, the U.S. is bargaining away its very sovereignty. To ensure passage of the trade agreement the Obama Administration wants to use the “Fast Track” legislative procedure which requires an up-or-down vote in the Senate with no amendments and with only twenty hours of debate allowed; this, on a trade agreement which will consist of tens of thousands of pages. And Congress is being told to vote to “Fast Track” the trade agreement before they even know what is in it. This lack of transparency and the undermining of our democracy is an outrage and must not stand. Over 150 Democratic Representatives, including eight from Illinois, have signed the Delauro letter to the President stating that they will not support using “Fast Track” on this trade agreement. The Trans-Pacific Partnership is too important to be rushed through the Senate. Fast tract has to be prevented to allow the American public to see what this trade agreement is really all about.

It is firmly recognized that Anti-Psychotic medications sedate and may cause seizures, falls and even death in the elderly. Billions in fines have been paid by pharmaceutical companies to the federal government for illegal promotion targeting dementia patients, with untold waste of healthcare dollars and damage to elders' lives. Even with successful efforts at reduction, the use of anti-psychotics is frighteningly high. Since Senator Rand Paul is also a doctor, he has a duty to be extra careful in his statements about medical matters such as vaccination against measles. He has been irresponsible in putting politics above sound medical practice, and talked out of both sides of his mouth about vaccination against measles, trying to appear to say the right thing, while at the same time making unscientific statements designed to appeal to his right-wing fringe supporters. While all of the harm his statements have done cannot be reversed, the damage can be reduced by his retracting his incorrect, unscientific statements.

The onslaught of money unleashed by the Supreme Court with Citizens United is destroying our democracy. That's why 45,000 Clean Money supporters joined Money Out Voters In and other Californians demanding California’s legislature put a measure on the ballot letting voters tell Congress to overturn Citizens United. The legislature listened and put Prop 49 on the ballot. Unfortunately, California’s Supreme Court silenced voters by removing it from the ballot. Over the last almost five years I have been entangled in a very high conflict divorce. When this all began, I thought that it would be simple, I was leaving my abuser and I would walk away with what was rightfully mine. There was a judge involved, and he would have to uphold the law of the land. Little did I know that his lackadaisical decisions would lead to my ex gaining the upper hand. Now here I am. Almost two years ago when I refused to go along with what my ex wanted he threatened to file bankruptcy. He was advised by many legal professionals that this would not be a wise decision as financially there was no need. He was at risk of being in contempt and possibly going to jail. We had mediation on July 21 and court on July 22; twenty-two minutes before our hearing the judge received the notice that he had filed bankruptcy. Financially there was no need other than keeping him out of jail, as his contempt was financial, and the bankruptcy would stay the hearing. With him filing bankruptcy, which was fraudulent and is being regarded as such by the Federal Bankruptcy Trustee, I am now losing everything. I want to make sure that this is unable to happen to anyone else. We did have some tax debt that if you do some research you will find that you cannot eliminate tax debt through bankruptcy. We owned our lives outright for the most part and he filed this bankruptcy on $32,000.00 worth of debt This could have been resolved with a parcel of land or some other thing could have been sold off to relieve this debt. I am asking you today to sign my petition, so no one else has to have their family drug through this kind of ridiculousness. I would have never believed that there was the ability for someone to do this.
