I feel that our government officials have forgotten who they are. They feel that they have the right to make cuts to everyone besides themselves. If we didn't have to pay them their salary and medical benefits forever, they wouldn't need to cut Social Security or Medicare or retirement funds for those who need it the most.

Justin bieber does nothing but embarrass this country and causes problems for the locals in California. He spits on his fans and is a danger to other people when he is behind the wheel. We are not safe with him around.

NJ voters across the political spectrum are angry that so much money - especiallyundisclosed money from outside the state - is being spent in our elections. In ademocracy, it is our right to know the amount and source of money spent either in favor or against a candidate or ballot proposition. These bills state that all aggregate contributions of $2,500+ and expenditures of $1,400+ must be fully disclosed. Free and fair elections require a voter’s ability to follow the money. If donations are not disclosed, any subsequent act of intimidation or “quid pro quo” corruption is likely to go undetected. Dark money in elections tempt interest groups of all stripes to engineer the outcome. Our NJ Legislature is already on the record in support of Constitutional Amendment to overturn Citizens United, the ruling that allows for free and unlimited spending by corporations in our elections. Since it will take a constitutional amendment to remedy the Citizens United Supreme Court decision, we must reduce the harm NOW by bringing all campaign contributions and expenditures into the light of day. Pass A227 and the companion Senate bill (which was S2616 in the last session) in time for our next election November 2015.

Numerous members of the New Democratic Coalition, an organization of pro-Wall Street and anti-middle class Democrats led by U.S. Representative Ron Kind of Wisconsin, recently launched attacks on progressive Democrats for opposing legislation to repeal many of the regulations in the Dodd-Frank bill that were designed to protect consumers who use our country's financial institutions. The New Democratic Coalition is one of the most influential organizations that compromise the Republican Wing of the Democratic Party. The New Democratic Coalition supports much of the same corporate agenda that the Republicans do, most notably deregulating Wall Street to put American consumers at the mercy of predatory banks even moreso than they are now and enacting free trade agreements to drive down wages, ship American jobs to foreign countries, and further destroy what little of our country's economic sovereignty remains. The fact that New Democratic Coalition members are openly attacking progressive-minded, pro-middle class Members of Congress for standing up for the American worker and consumer proves that they are more interested in dividing the party and serving special interests than making America a better place to live. Since U.S. Representative Ron Kind of Wisconsin is the Chairman of the New Democratic Coalition, it is his responsibility to denounce the divisive attacks on progressives from the members of his group. We, the signatories of this petition, are calling for Representative Kind to publicly denounce the New Democratic Coalition's War on Progressives.

Texas Government Code 437.208 states, “A body of persons other than the regularly organized Texas military forces, the armed forces of the United States, or the active militia of another state may not associate as a military company or organization or parade in public with firearms in a municipality of the state.” The extra-judicial armed groups now patrolling several areas on our state’s southern border are manifestly organized “as a military company or organization” outside the control of Texas military forces and the armed forces of the United States. We call on you to enforce Texas Government Code 437.208 against these private militias and disperse them.

This is to improve the quality and impact of Moveon.org petitions. This seems to be the only way to get read by anyone at Moveon.org -- assuming there is someone at Moveon.org that takes any responsibility for petitions they distribute. I am sick of petitions from Moveon.org and other organization, which do not fulfill these seven standards. Please do not follow the petition signing with a request for a donation as this degrades the petitions importance, making it seem like only an excuse to ask for money. Send an independent request for donations. It would be nice to get a response from the team!!! Ya sign a petition regarding an important issue and never know what happened. And too many petitions of the same issue are presented. We don't want the same people signing 5 petitions for the same thing and we don't want to sign the same petition twice making the petition worthless.

I had been a victim of this kind of abuse while I had attended a boarding school back when I was a child, and the events had just come to surface years ago. And yet, one of the abusers still remains there, and I have bad dreams in distorted form about the assault that had taken place some 37-40 years ago. All of these incidents of sexual abuse in schools and acts of violence either happen in unsupervised locations, or the staff are not carrying out their supervisory duties properly or they want to chalk the incidents up as provoked, even though they may know fully well that they are not truly ready to take on behaviorally challenged students who have behavioral problems that causes therm to act out in a violent manner. Back in the 1970's the topic of sexual abuse was hardly talked about or dealt with properly. Now, as more and more people are coming forward and talking about their past of being victims of sexual abuse, it is now time to set the records straight and set some concrete policies and procedures by operation of statutory law. I am asking that all college students, former college students and parents all stand with me on this issue. We have to do this as a group effort to make things safe for all across the board, no matter when or where it happens and that these people who engage in these kinds of acts face the consequences of their actions. If they do not face the consequences of their actions, then what have they really learned about life. Us grown ups are our children's teachers, including, parents and school officials. Although the Co-Sponsorship deadline had been extended to February 4, 2015, due to lots of inclement weather, that has gone by and at this time, there are two other legislator, State Representative Marcos Devers of Lawrence, Mass and State Senator Kathleen O'Connor Ives from Newburyport have gotten on board with me and state Representative Diana DiZoglio.. I talked to a school committee member who was from one of my nieces' schools that she attends and talked about the bill with her. I had told her about a provision that would also give staff and students a reprieve from dealing with school-aged children, and that there is a provision that would allow for the school term to end no later than the third Friday in June and start no earlier than two days after the Labor Day holiday. The true history behind summer vacation was so that school-aged children could help out on the family farm during the growing season, which also allowed for school-aged children to also get quality family time. But, yet, this particular school committee member asks questions about, "How does changing the school year tie into the Juvenile Violence Act." Well, to make a long story short, this very same school committee member who asked that question had an incident of Juvenile violence happen to her. Another answer to that question is, if the teachers have to work beyond June 30'th of each fiscal year, they have to be paid the same rate as the same fiscal year. However, I am not convinced and you should not be convinced either that they will get their pay in a timely manner, by these very same school districts as the state is often slow in appropriating the necessary funding and local communities are always fighting for more funding. The school districts are left to their own devices as to how to deal with any school days missed beyond the five allotted snow days per year. This Juvenile Violence Act does give many options from A-E as to how the school districts can make up the missed snow days beyond five and end at the mandated time frames as proposed in the bill. Do not let these school committees fool you. We all may had heard about the events of October 22, 2013. A popular teacher's life was taken by an act of Juvenile Violence. The question that should remain in your head is, where was security and other faculty members when this teen followed this teacher into the faculty bathroom on that fateful day of October 22, 2013, and yet, there is talk about extending the school year depending on inclement weather. These regulations were promulgated by 603 CMR 27. This lets the school districts make their own decisions. So, folks, it is time to sign this petition and keep up the fight. By keeping up the fight, we will be sending a message loud and clear that we do not trust the school districts or schools themselves in keeping things safe for our children nor the people that work with them. One other thing to make noteworthy is that the law does recognize self defense when someone is being harmed, however, in a school, if a teacher uses self defense, onto another student to protect themselves from serious bodily injury or death, because, it is the youth that perpetrate these violent acts in some cases, such as what happened to Miss. Ritzer on October 22, 2013. If she had been able to use self defense to fend off her attacker, a student, she may had been alive today. But, here's the problem. One cannot use self defense on another student, even though the law recognizes such, because, the youth or their parents may cry corporal punishment, thus they are asked to refrain from doing so by school policy. Don't be fooled by that either. Why? Even though the youth had engaged in the violence that resulted in serious bodily injury or death, the parents of some of these youth will use Corporal punishment or the video game made my son or daughter act in such a violent manner, that they will get lawyers and psychologist to back up their cases and sue for lucrative money, thus, the youthful offender ends up getting a reward for their own bad behavior. Thus, by signing, we together will be letting our legislators know that they need to pass this law and let the law take command and start down the road of real reform.

Effective, progressive POTUS's had long careers in public service and politics (not the same) prior to the presidency. (Think: the Roosevelts, LBJ) They had careers to build relationships and to find "where the bodies are buried." Newcomers' and outsiders' impacts have been mixed to miniscule. (Think Carter, Obama. Much of what Clinton, another outsider, apparently built is "on sand." e.g. repeal of Glass-Steagall, which set the stage for 2008. Welfare reform, which helped set labor market conditions for today's non-living, minimum wages.) Nixon, sorry to say, was an effective, old-hand insider. Consider, the EPA came to us under Nixon for reasons as much politcal as scientific or ethical. Reagan was effective because he knew his place and masterfully played his role of "mouthpiece for the oligarchs." Changes that we Progressives seek will not be quick fixes under a single POTUS. We must fight (play?) a long game from strategically favorable positions. 2016 is not Sen. Warren's moment, and we'll need her Senatorial influence against the Wall Street wing when we recover House and Senate in '16.

I work overseas and the torture done by the U.S. and the continued existence of the prison at Guantanamo are a stain on this country's reputation as a democratic society. All citizens of this country would hopefully be in accord with this.
