• Its name is the Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act has given new hope to millions of people who previously had no hope of getting health insurance or the medical care they desperately needed. The Affordable Care Act has helped slow the rising cost of medical care. The Affordable Care Act is protecting millions of Americans from being bankrupted by sky high medical bills. The Affordable Care Act would be protecting millions more if some states weren't politically blockading the Medicaid Expansion while their citizens die for lack of care. The Affordable Care Act IS WORKING. As the new majority in both the Senate and House of Representatives lay their plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act, we insist they call it by its true name, that the media call it by its true name, so that everyone knows repealing the Affordable Care Act will simply make medical care UNAFFORDABLE once again.

  • Declare Oil Shale Reserves to be a part of Strategic Petroleum Reserves
We have nearly all seen videos of explosive train wrecks during transportation of this highly volatile crude oil. We have nearly all seen the videos of tap water from private water wells catching on fire. The technology needed to extract the oil and gas is proven, but the techniques are causing massive contamination and dangerous transportation.

  • Let's Hold Them Accountable
When Mitch McConnell is sworn in as majority leader in January, he’ll be surrounded by at least six new anti-choice senators. Here’s the thing: Anti-choice candidates didn’t win by running on their beliefs – they won by running on ours. Voters didn’t send these Republican freshmen to Washington to roll back our reproductive freedom. More than 50 percent of voters in Iowa and Colorado who support abortion rights backed Gardner and Ernst. Now that we’ve lost the Senate, our top priority is to force the freshmen Republicans to keep the promises they made to the voters who put them in office to focus on expanding job opportunities and economic security for everyone.

As an American, I am offended by the war on the poor being waged by this municipality. Only by threatening its lifeblood (tourism)will they halt and reverse this barbarous policy.

  • Sign the petition: Confirm President Obama’s judicial nominees now
There’s no two ways about it—we lost. Republicans are going to have a clear majority in the Senate next year and Mitch McConnell has already made clear that he’s going to grind President Obama’s judicial and executive nominees to a halt. But here’s the thing: Democrats still have the majority right now and they can confirm a slew of Obama’s nominees in a lame duck session. Confirming the president’s judicial nominees could be Harry Reid and Senate Democrats’ lasting legacy—and it could shape jurisprudence for decades to come. Sign the petition to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid: Confirm all of President Obama’s judicial nominees right now, before it’s too late.

  • Support the American Anti-Corruption Act
Reduce Corruption -> Restore Democracy. Congress has been corrupted by big money. Our elected officials represent special interests instead of the American people. From the tax code to education, climate change to the national debt — they'll never fix anything that matters to the American people until we end the legalized corruption and make them represent us. The American Anti-Corruption Act: Prevents members of Congress from raising money from the interest they regulate; Puts tough limits on unregulated Super PACs so they have to play by the rules; Mandates full transparency so we know who works for who; And gives voters a $100 Tax Rebate that they can contribute to the candidate and party of their choice.

  • Demand Florida to lift its ban on feeding the homeless
Florida’s ideal way to get rid of the homeless in their downtown area is by passing a food sharing ban. Meaning you can only pass food from one hand to another in designated places that can’t be situated near another feeding site; it has to be at least 500 feet from residential property; and feed program organizers must seek permission from property owners for sites in front of their buildings. The city officials have lost their ignorant mind!!! All the money they make on tourist revenue they can’t come up with a better way to get rid of the homeless by fixing the issue not creating more damaged? Florida, and other states are so full of vain that they care more of what their state looks like than a human life? I cant believe from one human to another these states have turned that cold hearted to really try to stop someone from getting food. Not only is God frowning on but so are many people watching. its happening everywhere the latest ordinance follows others in Fort Lauderdale that banned the homeless from soliciting at the city’s busiest intersections, outlawed sleeping on public property downtown, and made it illegal for people to store personal belongings on public property. One of the reasons why God took down Sodom is because they were uncharitable and abusive to strangers, the poor, sick, and disadvantaged……. all these states & cities with these laws will suffer in the end. A wealthy states gets to behave like this because the people allow it to happen . Florida will pay for this it may not be this time around but vanity, selfishness, and cruelty will have its day …. Trust that God will prevail all involved will suffer!!! Boycott Florida and the other states that have this law …….stand up for these people who can’t stand up for themselves because they have no power. Stop feeding the politician by voting them out – funding their campaigns and supporting these inhumane laws. With A Voice Mountains Can Be Moved …. Stand your ground tell politicians how you feel!! Lift the ban on abusing the homeless peoples right to eat in places just like you and I get to eat in. scream - shout - vote lout against this behavior TAKE BACK YOUR RIGHTS- STAND UP!

  • Don't Frack St. Tammany Parish
The citizens of St. Tammany parish do not want fracking in the community. St. Tammany zoning laws prohibit the construction and operation of the proposed Helis fracking facility. Further, the fact that this facility would be located proximate to Lakeshore High School is unacceptable. Our environment and health, especially the health of our children must be protected, and this facility must be stopped.
