A frack-free ChristmasThe holidays should be a time for family and tradition—but the noise, pollution, and health threat of fracking may spoil Gary Baumgardner’s plans. His 9-month old granddaughter has been ordered by doctors to stay away from the home while the drilling rigs are operating. [1] In a perfect world, fracking should be ceased every day and Gary and his family should never have to breath the toxic air, put up with the disruptive noise, or fear for their health because of this unwanted neighbor. But surely every family deserves a quiet day together to uphold tradition for the holidays. Sadly, EQT refuses to shutdown their operation for just one day so a family can continue its Christmas tradition together. Southwest Michigan Citizens Against The "Religious Freedom Restoration Act"Last week, the Michigan House of Representatives passed the "Religious Freedom Restoration Act" along party lines. It should be titled the "License To Discriminate Act". This act's sole purpose is to allow a person to refuse to serve any person whom they choose if they have a moral objection to that person's lifestyle. The LGBT community is most likely the target of this bill, but it has far reaching implications that even its proponents don't yet realize. By citing religious beliefs, people would be able to legally discriminate against anybody they wanted for any purpose. Christians against Jews, Jews against Muslims, Muslims against Hindus, and so on, and so on. Is this really the type of society we wish to live in? I think not. Liberty and justice for all, regardless of whether or not you share someone else's religious beliefs.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sven A Erickson

Bay County Residents Against The Religous Freedom Restoration ActThe Religious Freedom Restoration Act states that a provider's " religious reasons" could prevent a person in need from receiving medical help, housing, or a driver's license. This Act is discriminatory and unkind. We the people of Michigan in Bay County who have signed this petition do not support this Act.166 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Chris Girard

Help Stop Sex Trafficking! In the United States, human trafficking is an increasing problem. This criminal enterprise includes citizens of the United States, many of them children, who are forced into prostitution, and foreigners brought into the country, often under false pretenses, who are coerced into forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation.299 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Zoe Joslin

Laws to Protect unarmed Black Men from being killed by law enforcement officers.Based on the number of Black Males being killed by Officers of the Law without any indictments or prosecution of these Officers. There is an apparent lack of laws to protect this segment of the population as is evident in the recent killings of Michael Brown, Eric Garner and so many others. In a Nation of Laws we need a Federal Law to protect these innocent victims from being killed before even getting to a hearing.31 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gladston Hackett

Prosecute Those committing American War Crimes in the treatment of prisonersThere is simply no possibility that the American government willact on this issue, and the CIA and officials in the Bush Administration violated the values that millions of Americans cherish, which Eric Holder refuses to prosecute.. The International Court of Justice is established as the proper Court to hear these kind of issues where a national government cannot and will not hold its own citizens accountable for their crimes. The Senate Report provides graphic and massive evidence of violations of the Geneva Conventions against torture and prisoner abuse, and there is clearly "probable Cause" to believe that high crimes were committed and that the perpetrators are being protected by current and past U.S.administrations who refuse to prosecute those involved.46 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dr. Gordon S. Veto the Welfare Drug Testing BillWe only seem to have wars on the poor: Detroit with water, 1/3 of our children live dependent on some kind of assistance for most of their meals, and now drug testing? Let's INVEST in our poor and/or sick, instead of taking away the little they already have. Governor Synder and MI legislature-do not put into law something that not only costs in the long run, not only is an invasion of privacy, but at the end of the day, helps no one-the poor to the elite alike.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kenneth Witucki

Stop Republicans Now!We must not allow Republicans to take the country back to the economic environment and banking practices that led to the 2008 recession. If MoveOn seeks to convince Senator Warren to run for the Presidency, the organization should take immediate steps to provide loud and visible support.30 of 100 SignaturesCreated by N Shiroma

Stand against H.R.347I am making this petition because I believe it is morally and tactically unwise for the government increase the suspicions of the people it is meant to protect and serve. If the government you has nothing to hide, it has no reason to fear its citizens. We only want truth. Is that something the government should have to defend itself against? The greatest law is - Love thy God. The second is Love thy neighbor. Are we not all each other's brothers keepers to atone and answer for each other, to help each other up? Preventing protests near government buildings, is not helpful and after recent events at Ferguson and other places, this only will inspire hostility in the people toward government authority. Please hear me out. God bless you all.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Griswold

Don't move the Utah State Prison. It's a waste of taxpayer money.I felt ambivalent about the Prison being built somewhere else, until they decided they want to build it within a half a mile from my house. I started researching the reasons and the cost of moving the prison. It is so expensive to rebuild the prison elsewhere, and lawmakers don't have a good understanding of the economic development of other cities. Draper is the only city that will benefit from the prison moving locations. Taxpayers will NOT recoup the cost of moving the prison by the tax revenue that could potentially come from the Draper land. Also, the cities that could potentially get the prison do not want it and do not choose it. The city of Draper chose to have the prison in their community.2,891 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Stacy Haight
