• Traffic Avenue
I, along with several other residents of Baton Rouge, firmly believe that College Drive deserves a more appropriate title. Not only does Traffic Avenue have a nicer, more resounding ring to it, it gives commuters an immediate sense of impending doom upon approach.

  • Emergency: Protect Wisconsin's Wolves under the Endangered Species Act
Wolves in Wisconsin may be perilously close to collapse due to aggressive hunting and trapping seasons, poaching, and the unregulated year-round use of dogs to pursue wolves. Worse, the state is likely not accurately counting the number of wolves in its borders. The state of Wisconsin interpreted its wolf census data in secret last winter — for the first time in 25 years. A group of scientists recently outlined multiple flaws in the state's methods of reporting wolf mortality and reporting the wolf population status. The scientists urged the USFWS to start independent scientific review and emergency relisting. The scientists reported that among radio-collared wolves in 2012, for every 4 wolves legally hunted, another 7 were illegally killed, 8 were killed by the government or vehicles, and 2 died of natural causes. Following that, the state declared another wolf-hunting season and legally hunted another 257 wolves in October 2013 and 150 wolves in October 2014. The wolf population can not handle more of the same. Please ask USFWS Director Dan Ashe to listen to these scientists and immediately relist wolves in Wisconsin and to form an independent scientific review panel to monitor any future state recovery plans.

  • Equal Pay For Congressional Members For The State Of Representation.
Hi, Congress members were elected by the people of their State to represent them, and not profit off the burdens of the people. We as a people would like fair pay and Congressional members should also have a fair pay wage as well. They are civil servants. That's why I created a petition to The United States House of Representatives and The United States Senate, which says: "Congress should get paid the median for the State they represent." Will you sign my petition? Click here to add your name:

  • Divest UH From Fossil Fuels
Trevor Alexander is a University of Hawaii student in the part of the U.S. most vulnerable to climate change and most dependent on fossil fuel. He is concerned about where UH dollars are going: the UH Foundation has invested $261 million in funds including fossil fuels! This is dangerous and counterproductive--global warming threatens the livelihood of everyone in Hawaii [1]. In his words: "Current projections indicate global warming could change Hawaii forever as early as 2029 [2]. This isn't a problem for our children, it's our problem--we students will have to try to make a life in a world with more frequent, stronger hurricanes; severe damage to tourism; beach loss; increased disease; water shortages; dying coral reefs; and agricultural losses. It won't look like home anymore." [1] http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/28/climate-change-study-hawaii_n_5731956.html [2] http://www.soc.hawaii.edu/mora/Publications.html

  • Stand with Senator Murphy in Support of Diplomacy with Iran!
Stand with Senator Murphy and tell Congress to let diplomacy work. Last November, the U.S. and our partners in the international community reached a breakthrough agreement with Iran. The so-called Joint Plan of Action paved the way for a comprehensive deal that would remove both the threat of an Iranian nuclear weapon and the potential for a U.S.-Iran military confrontation. The deadline to reach a final agreement is November 24. This is our chance to solve one of America’s greatest security concerns without dropping a bomb. But that's not stopping some in Congress from trying to kill the deal before it's even finalized. Opponents of diplomacy are mobilizing to undermine the final hour of talks. S. 2650, a bill sponsored by Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), would tie the hands of our negotiators, cut off funding for inspections, and push Iran away from the negotiating table. The last time America listened to voices like these, we got the Iraq War. We can't let that happen again. We’ve been told that negotiators from the United States, Iran, and five other world powers have drafted an agreement that is 95% done. There is cautious optimism that we can get a deal, but this historic opportunity could still fall apart. A year ago, the U.S. and Iran were barely on speaking terms. Now, we could be just one week away from a long-term deal that not only places Iran's nuclear program under a lock and key, ensuring that Iran cannot get a nuclear bomb, but also does so without having to take even one step toward another war in the Middle East. That's diplomacy at work. Please support this historic opportunity to win without war. Watch Senator Murphy's speech: http://www.c-span.org/video/?c4514687/sen-murphy-supports-iran-diplomacy.

  • Save Thanksgiving- Keep Family First
I saw this message on PC Richards & Son who decided not to follow the lead of every other retailer but to respect that Family should be first. I give all respect to all the stores such as DSW, Pc Richard and Costco who decided to put family first. We should come together and tell these stores who are forcing their employees to work on Thanksgiving that we will not shop on thanksgiving. JC Penney, Walmart, Target, malls in NJ and all over the country.Your employees should be able to spend Thanksgiving with their families. Please help us fight to have these stores close their doors on Thanksgiving and keep family first.

  • Senator King: We need action on immigration, not more delays!
Senator Angus King (I-ME) caucuses with the Democrats and voted for immigration reform, but you’d never think that after what he said about President Obama providing deportation relief to immigrant families: "I think it will create a backlash in the country that could actually set the cause back and inflame our politics in a way that I don’t think will be conducive to solving the problem.” In August, Senator King was also one of the loudest voices urging President Obama to delay executive action. This has to change. Immigrant families are being separated every day and President Obama is finally preparing to provide relief for millions of those families. Of course, Republicans are already threatening to try and block any action from the president. Senator King should be doing the right thing and joining the 115+ Congressional Democrats who have urged the President to act boldly right away. But instead, he's siding with obstructionist Republicans who want nothing more than for the President to do nothing while immigrant families suffer. Senator King, why are you siding with extremist Republicans over hard-working immigrant families? It's time do the right thing and join Democrats in supporting executive action on immigration now.

  • J for Justice: SAVE from Court Sanctioned Guardianship and Power of Attorney Abuse
Knowingly ill, imagine being at the mercy and dependence of someone who cares less about your interest at heart. Your voice has been legally muted and rightful privileges for visitation from ALL friends/family members have been suspiciously restricted or revoked. You find yourself trapped and confined in a place called home. Overtime, you have become a PRISONER; while your caretaker has evolved into a spiteful GUARDian. Unfortunately, this is happening real-time to the elderly, sick, and disabled. I am charged for judicial revolution by many recent stories presented in the media outlets; as well as a personal experience. Canny criminals are taking extreme measures to validate their inhumane acts through a loophole in our legal system. Now is the time to expose it and close it. Who are the individuals involved? These are wives, husbands, and legal guardians with ill intentions and [possible] interest in personal gains who partner with corrupt Medical Physicians, Guardian Ad Litems (GALs) and Judicial Systems to authorize absolute authority over the elderly, sick, and disabled. How is this happening? These individuals are preying on the victim’s state of being and disguising themselves behind well respected laws; such as Guardianship, Power of Attorney, and Marriage. After obtaining that level of legal authority, the elderly, sick, and/or disabled is placed into a secluded vulnerable situation; such that even well-being checks by law enforcement are not thorough and often ignored. These helpless victims are unknowingly being declared incompetent [when mental capacity is obvious] and unfit to appear in court. Their life -or lack thereof- suddenly lies in the hands of a messenger (the wife, husband, Power of Attorney and/or Guardian) who then makes a confidential - yet conspicuous- connection with the Court System and GAL. The bond is formulated between each involved party and a legal fight formerly for “the ward’s best interest” abruptly becomes a fight [in disguise] for “the Guardian’s best interest”. If all people possessed an unquestionable amount of dignity and integrity for mankind, this model would be perfect. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Why should we be concerned? God forbid and bless anyone of us who may be facing a terminal illness but one thing is certain… We all will grow old one day. With time, the probability for dependence and needed assistance from a loved one will increase. IF the elderly, sick, and/or disabled elects an individual who has repeatedly proven his/her unwillingness to serve in the best interest of the elderly, sick, and/or disabled, it can be extremely difficult, nearly impossible to reverse such decision in today’s age. Despite of any given title, no one man/woman should be granted that level of jurisdiction over the life of an incompetent individual; much longer competent. To support my argument of concern, below I have provided references to a few cases. I invite you to view and voice your opinion. • Eliminate the Jones Act
I am sick and tired of paying premium prices for goods and services in a state where they totally abuse the anti-trust laws and the major shipping is only done by one company as a total MONOPOLY. I will not stand back and let one company price gauge us all to death plain and simple. I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it any more, period.
