Is Judgment Really Set Aside?I am starting this petition for the people who have committed non-violent felony crimes here in Arizona who have had judgment set aside. Every time I apply for a job, even though I had my judgment set aside, it still comes up in a non-favorable way. I really think that for those who went in front of a judge and pleased the courts to grant them to set aside judgment have paid their debt to society in the court's eyes. They shouldn't have to pay with the rest of their lives. All I am asking is that it to not show for jobs and minor stuff. Federal and State uses are fine. Even though I currently hold a secret clearance with DoD, it was so hard for me to find a job and it took almost a year. I almost lost everything, plus it was so hard on my family. I understand the mistakes I have made. On the other hand, I have paid my debt and pleased the courts, yet eleven years later it still feels like I am being punished for it. So please help me change this so those that the courts seem fit to grant to set aside judgment are able to get jobs and support their families without the fear of losing the opportunity because of the mistakes they have made in the past. That's what the judgment set aside law is there for so let it really work. Thank you for your time. Please sign and help us change this law so our judgment is really set aside.64 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Scott Caballero

Union Rights are Civil RightsAs a veteran, I fought for our right to bargain collectively with our employers, but too often workers are scared to exercise this right for fear of losing their jobs. Studies show that more than 40 percent of American workers would like to join a union, but are afraid of retaliation from their employers. Many Americans have fought and died to ensure our rights, and we should never have to be afraid to exercise our rights. That is not the America we fought for!16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ben Lofton

Immaculate Conception School: Revert to the conventional letter-based grading systemIt is imperative that the bright, talented and hard-working Immaculate Conception students be allowed to be in a position to be academically competitive as they approach their high school career. It is my belief that at this time letter-based grading in 6th, 7th and 8th grade is what will best prepare Immaculate Conception students to be academically competitive as they apply for and enter high school. 1. Letter-based grades allow for parents to better gauge their student’s grades. For example, with standards-based grading, in some cases a student could get 70% to 100% correct to receive “meets standards” on an assessment. Students have little motivation to push for an “A” when percent correct results in the same grade on the report card. 2. With standards-based grading, students can reassess if they receive an “I” (improving) or an “N” (does not meet standard) so some types of students (even good students) don’t have the sense of urgency to do their best the first time. 3. When applying for high school admission and scholarships, standards-based-grading paints a very ambiguous picture of academic performance. It is difficult to convert standards-based grades to a format to compare to letter-based grades that other diocesan grade schools and high schools use, which makes it difficult for our students to compete. 4. The difficulty in conversion mentioned in issue #3 is also a concern when placing high school freshmen in course levels.144 of 200 SignaturesCreated by IC Petitioner

DC Council: Don't Misfire on the Soccer Stadium DealThe soccer stadium proposal appears designed to further enrich a megamillionaire and a billionaire - developer John Akridge and DC United majority owner Erick Thorir - at District residents' expense. The Washington Post editorial board agrees, proposing to "separate the transactions in a way that ensures fair market value for both properties and dispels any suggestion of a sweetheart deal." Even if the bill is amended along these lines, the lack of substantial public input remains a major concern. If building a soccer stadium in Washington D.C. is as popular as its proponents insist, taxpayer funds for that use should be approved in the full light of day.221 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Jeremy Koulish

Congress: No $ for new war without debate & voteThe Administration has requested $5 billion in new funding for the new war in Iraq and Syria. But Congress has not yet debated and voted on an authorization for the use of military force [1], and budget watchdog groups say the Pentagon can easily find the money in the massive budgets it already has. [2] Urge your Representative and Senators to oppose any new funding for war in Iraq and Syria until Congress has debated and voted on an authorization for the use of force and the Pentagon has explained why it needs more money on top of the massive budgets it already has, by signing our petition. Economic Disparity & Campaign ContributionsThe top 1% of the wealthy Americans account for 40% of its wealth, the top 1% are worth more than the bottom 90% combined and 95% of economic gain goes to the top 1%! The wealthy and powerful seek to maintain the status quo and practice avoidance to deal with the issue. They defend the "Trickle down Theory", scream "Socialism!" and employ scare tactics concerning a decline in job creation if anyone dares to question or implement policies that would alter the control of wealth and power. In the economic reality we live in things can only get worse for the poor and middle class. The playing field needs to be leveled. Wealth begets wealth so while the cash piles up exponentially for the rich as the stock market goes up, the middle class loses hope and the poor are left in the dust! The Supreme Court's "Citizens United" decision allows huge campaign contributions to flow from the wealthy to the candidates which gives certain people influence over election results and future policy decisions. Common sense dictates that the "Citizens United" decision puts elections up for sale and there will be an inherent indebtedness on the part of the elected toward the big money contributors.19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Erik Graham
