In the 55 years of her life I cannot remember any time that she lost her temper.She did not cold blooded shoot Howard "Sonny" Kimbrough. Sonny was not the perfect person some people want you to believe. Her mother passed away earlier that year in her home and she was not allowed to mourn for her. Their financial situation was in a shambles due to both her, Sonny and their children. It was going to get worse and she was at a dead end, knowing how violent Sonny was. His second wife (Tina Woods) mother, when she left him Sonny went to her home and fired shots into it with no regard to whomever was inside. He put his Mother & father-in-law out of their home and left the elderly couple in a financial strain all because he had been telling a lie the whole time about his own living situation. Sonny had already threatened her life. She was hardly ever allowed to go anywhere without him there. She was already living in a prison environment. Unless you have been in a violent relationship you cannot judge what another person felt was their only option. I am sorry for the loss to his family but Debbie lost a whole lot more. She deserves a chance to get on with her life now. Thank you All and God Bless You. She never stood a chance on a fair trial in Colbert County, even after the Judge set her bond and Deborah had two people to put up the assets for her release on bond. The Sheriff Ronnie Mays denied them the chance to even apply, so he violated her rights.

Currently, job seekers are invariably being required during the hiring process to explain why they have been unemployed so long. As a result, that sends them into a cycle of not getting hired, lengthening their already long-term unemployment, and making them less desirable hire candidates by subsequent potential employers. This subtle form of discrimination needs to be stopped. A tax credit for potential employers would seem to be an answer.

Bill Moyers and Company has been a breath of fresh air since it started in 2011 at a time when the world needed responsible sense-making. While Moyers provided the voice, it was the work of his "Company," the staff that provided the knowledge and information, that made the show. The Company does not have to end. PBS should hear from its audience that the show must go on with a new on-screen personality whose experience and demeanor match that of Bill Moyers.

The State of Arizona does not have strong enough laws to protect the children of Arizona when it comes to the issues of Adoption. I believe that there should be a requirement for pre- and post-adoption counseling for both the birth parents and the adopting family, financial counseling, a requirement that each party seek legal representation to discuss the ramifications of each document and decision, that an adopting party be required to proceed through an agency or CPS to complete a home study and report to the Court any home study that is incomplete or is not approved, regardless of the status of the adoption process, a time limitation for adoption to finalize and a time limitation for Consents. There are so many regulations that need to be revamped to ensure the safety of the children in this state, regardless of whether it is a direct/specific adoption. Great News! After more than 11,000 people signed petitions, thousands left comments on his website, and hundreds called — Governor Jerry Brown signed SB 844. Another big win for transparency this year! Authored by Senator Fran Pavley, SB 844 will make it easy to see online who's spending money for and against California propositions. It requires the Secretary of State to create an online page listing the total amount raised and the top ten funders for and against. Perhaps most importantly, the official ballot pamphlet will include a link to the page so it’s easy to find. The police have been found justified for their actions in the shooting death after only a few days of deliberation from the Grand Jury, but despite that conclusion they were falsely called to a situation that warranted no police involvement. They reacted without speaking with the perpetrator or even other witnesses to the alleged crime. If there had been a real threat, you would think other people in the store would have stopped shopping or called the police if they were in fear for their lives . Ronald Ritchie, as well as the police officers should be held accountable for their actions. Ronald Ritchie sparked a frenzy by calling the police and giving false information in a non-threatening situation. He was also still in the store. The video that has been published in the media has made this case clear and concrete, yet no one is being held accountable for a life lost unjustly. Filing a false police report is a serious crime that no one should get away with. Dear Honorable Mayor Kelvyn Cullimore, Jr. and Councilman Mike Peterson: The purpose of this petition is to draw community support in favor of providing shade structures for both playgrounds and around the splash pad area of Mountview Park. I am reaching out to you on behalf of Moms Offering Moms Support (MOMS) Club of Cottonwood Heights and Holladay, UT. We are a non-profit organization, supporting moms in our community, through voluntary events, programs and service projects. Our goals for this shade project is to raise awareness for sun protection and seek viable shade solutions for our area parks that lack protection from the sun's harmful rays. Our initial steps, as suggested by Councilman Peterson (in an earlier conversation), are two-fold: 1. Select one park in need. We have chosen to focus our attention and efforts onto Mountview Park (in interest of popularity, time and resources). This park draws dozens of community members daily for it's playground areas and splash pad. 2. Seek out interest and support from Cottonwood Heights residents. We are doing so with this petition. I've heard from area residents that the playground equipment at Mountview Park can be very hot on high temperature days and there is minimal shade throughout. The trees initially planted are few, far between, and too young to provide the shade necessary to block the heat, UVA and UVB rays. I've often seen individuals or groups bring their tents for their own protection. However, I feel this is not enough, and we as a community can and should do more to protect our children in these play spaces. According to the Utah Cancer Registry, Utah ranks the highest in Melanoma cases across the country. Lack of a voter ID is more likely for those who are poor, disenfranchised, marginalized, without the flexibility to leave their jobs to accommodate limited DMV hours, people of color-- all people who traditionally vote for Democratic candidates. When I participated in canvassing recently, I was concerned that many in our rural area weren't even aware of new voter ID requirements. Every citizen deserves the same vote, without incurring extra costs or hardships, without eligibility tests that favor one party over another.

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is facing accusations that it showed "extreme deference" to Goldman Sachs, a bank it is supposed to oversee. The New York branch of the Federal Reserve system is in charge of regulating the biggest Wall Street banks. However, the Fed has been accused of being too cozy with the banks it is supposed to oversee. For example, during the run-up to the 2008 financial collapse and subsequent $700 billion bailout, the Fed gave trillions of dollars in then-secret aid to banks, firms and even Caterpillar, a tractor company.[1] The latest allegations resulted when a whistleblower - a former examiner at the Fed - gave 46 hours of secret tapes to NPR's "This American Life" and the investigative journalists at ProPublica. The tapes allegedly reveal that the Fed failed to take action on "a deal that the top Fed guy stationed inside Goldman called ‘legal but shady.’"[2] The Fed has denied the whistleblower’s claims. In response to the secret tapes, Senator Elizabeth Warren (MA), who chaired the Congressional investigation into the Wall Street bailout in 2008, has called for oversight hearings. She has been joined by fellow Senate Banking Committee member Sherrod Brown (OH).[3] As Senator Warren said in calling for the hearings: “It’s our job to make sure our financial regulators are doing their jobs.”[4] Please support her call for Congress to investigate the relationship between the New York Fed and banks like Goldman Sachs.
