When Mitch McConnell is sworn in as majority leader in January, he’ll be surrounded by at least six new anti-choice senators. Here’s the thing: Anti-choice candidates didn’t win by running on their beliefs – they won by running on ours. Voters didn’t send these Republican freshmen to Washington to roll back our reproductive freedom. More than 50 percent of voters in Iowa and Colorado who support abortion rights backed Gardner and Ernst. As an American, I am offended by the war on the poor being waged by this municipality. Only by threatening its lifeblood (tourism)will they halt and reverse this barbarous policy.

Florida’s ideal way to get rid of the homeless in their downtown area is by passing a food sharing ban. Meaning you can only pass food from one hand to another in designated places that can’t be situated near another feeding site; it has to be at least 500 feet from residential property; and feed program organizers must seek permission from property owners for sites in front of their buildings. The city officials have lost their ignorant mind!!! All the money they make on tourist revenue they can’t come up with a better way to get rid of the homeless by fixing the issue not creating more damaged? Florida, and other states are so full of vain that they care more of what their state looks like than a human life? I cant believe from one human to another these states have turned that cold hearted to really try to stop someone from getting food. Not only is God frowning on but so are many people watching. its happening everywhere the latest ordinance follows others in Fort Lauderdale that banned the homeless from soliciting at the city’s busiest intersections, outlawed sleeping on public property downtown, and made it illegal for people to store personal belongings on public property. One of the reasons why God took down Sodom is because they were uncharitable and abusive to strangers, the poor, sick, and disadvantaged……. all these states & cities with these laws will suffer in the end. A wealthy states gets to behave like this because the people allow it to happen . Florida will pay for this it may not be this time around but vanity, selfishness, and cruelty will have its day …. Trust that God will prevail all involved will suffer!!! Boycott Florida and the other states that have this law …….stand up for these people who can’t stand up for themselves because they have no power. The citizens of St. Tammany parish do not want fracking in the community. St. Tammany zoning laws prohibit the construction and operation of the proposed Helis fracking facility. Further, the fact that this facility would be located proximate to Lakeshore High School is unacceptable. Our environment and health, especially the health of our children must be protected, and this facility must be stopped.

Two of the biggest textbook publishers in the country — Pearson and McGraw-Hill Education — have proposed new social studies textbooks in Texas that include inaccurate and misleading information about climate change. Instead of learning the truth, a generation of students could be reading propaganda like this in their textbook: • McGraw-Hill Education (World Cultures & Geography) – includes information pulled directly from the Heartland Institute, a polluter-funded advocacy group infamous for its anti-climate change propaganda. • Pearson (Social Studies K-5) – Tells students, “Scientists disagree about what is causing climate change.” If those books are approved in Texas on November 21, climate-change denial could find its way into textbooks around the nation. Help convince publishers to correct these problems.

There are too many people that are being unnecessarily subjected to a neighbor's burning. Some have been admitted to a hospital due to the smoke that enters their home. Speaking to a neighbor generally leads to 'bully burning' which makes the situation even worse. We all know that climate change is adding to the already pollutant saturated air that we are forced to breathe and adding continual wood smoke to the mix is making life miserable for so many people. Some try to sell their homes to move away from burners but find that it is next to impossible to sell their home when it is surrounded with wood smoke. Please consider banning all residential burning and help those that cannot find a way to end the smoke. Everyone should have the right to breathe clean air, especially in their own homes.
