• Congress: Stop the gridlock, and get back to work.
For too long Congress has gridlocked and filibustered its way to the brink of international economic disaster, to the detriment of the electorate without any consequence for its actions. We (your constituents) are called upon to bear the brunt of this behavior; to work harder, longer, for less pay, surrounded by crumbling infrastructure, declining opportunities and ever growing expenses for fewer and fewer services, AND pay our taxes (for your salaries) without recourse. Therefore, until you fulfill your mandated responsibilities, we will freeze your pay scale and suspend the 70% employer contribution subsidy of your FEHBP policies to help you better understand our predicament. Our hope is that it will remind you of why you were elected to your offices and what you were sent there to do.

  • Outrageous Water Bill's In Baltimore City
I have been personally affected by this situation for a number of years . One time ,I had a water bill of $1,500.00 . In order to attempt to correct the problem I had my front lawn dug up and replaced the pipes leading from the meter to my home. even thought the bill became manageable after that , it has remained high. The nightmare has returned , I received a bill totaling $2,020.39 . due by 06/09/2014 .I was able to get an adjustment to that bill after having a plumber come in and redo all old gavanized pipes and replace them on the inside of my home . The City inspected the meter on 5/29/2014 and found no leak's. The adjusted bill was $278.43. that was paid in June 2014. My current bill is $799.90 , I requested another adjustment on Friday 9/19/2014 , the most recent feed back is I have to have a plumber come out because leak's were found on the property . This situation is serious because my home can be sold for a delinquent water bill. Solution ; Replace the current dysfunctional system with the new Smart Meter's now instead of year's down the road .

  • Help the Progressive Caucus Limit the Iraq-Syria war
A new U.S. war has begun in Iraq and Syria—without Congressional authorization. Congress is likely to vote on an authorization, sooner or later; whatever they eventually vote on will almost certainly pass. What is in the authorization they vote on is something that we can still influence. In the process, we can help put a quick end to this war, preventing it from becoming another endless quagmire. The Congressional Progressive Caucus Resolution, H.Con.Res.114, establishes a set of four key principles that we can organize around. The resolution says that Congress: - should debate and vote on whether the U.S. should be involved in sustained combat in Iraq or Syria; - does not support the deployment of ground combat troops in Iraq or Syria; - should ensure that any grant of authority for force is narrowly tailored and limited; and - should ensure that any grant of authority for force includes robust reporting requirements. Key progressive leaders in Congress supporting H.Con.Res.114 include: Reps. Raul Grijalva, Keith Ellison, Barbara Lee, Jim McGovern, Alan Grayson, Peter DeFazio, Peter Welch, Mark Pocan, Jim McDermott, John Conyers, Katherine Clark, Beto O'Rourke, Janice Hahn, Richard Nolan, Hank Johnson, Charlie Rangel, Michael Honda, Chellie Pingree, Niki Tsongas, Mark Takano, Sam Farr, John Lewis, Jose Serrano. https://beta.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-concurrent-resolution/114/cosponsors Show your support for H.Con.Res.114 and these principles by signing our petition.

  • Sewage Treatment Plant
There are concerns regarding the building of the Sewage Treatment Plant on Lester Reese's land because of the location. First concern is that the location is prime real estate for houses and the land is zoned for residential not commercial/industrial. It is a beautiful area of Oronoco that in the future could benefit the growth of Oronoco by bringing in future residents and increase the value of the land by building middle to higher class houses. Second concern is the expense to such a small community. It has been stated in the minutes that each house hold in Oronoco would have to pay a hook up fee of approx. $13,000.00 to hook into this faciltiy, when Oronoco has the option to connect to Rochester or Pine Island which would decrease this expense for the Oronoco residents to approx. $900.00 per house hold. This is approx. 2 million dollar project that could be put on hold until the town of Oronoco has a greater population in need of this type of faciltiy. Third concern is the site and smell. This land is located at the entrance of Oronoco, is this really what you want visitors to see and smell first when they enter your town?

  • Help the Homeless
I lived in Wisconsin for several years. The winters are severe. In a wealthy country such as the States, help should be provided the homeless. Most working people are only a few paychecks away from this and when the unforeseen occurs eg ill health or job loss - it means unnecessary hardship. The wealthier / powerful in society should create a fairer life for all. This win-win approach means a happier outcome. There has been too much greed, too much war mongering. Start focusing on domestic policies and helping your own people to a better life.

  • Oklahoma Senator John Bennett should resign
Senator John Bennett of Oklahoma recently stated his belief that we should be wary of American Muslims and that Islam is "a cancer in our nation that needs cutting out." He has refused to apologize for these and other offensive and inflammatory remarks that will serve only to persecute Muslim Americans who are supposed to be free to practice their religion. Senator Bennett is condemning an entire religion and it's American followers for the evil acts of a violent fringe minority in a different part of the world. We need to send the message that his remarks are unacceptable from a member of the Senate. If Senator Bennett will not apologize for his offensive and divisive behavior, he should resign.

  • Library's Questionable Personnel Practices Costly to Tax Payers?
All District Memo 14-05 states the following: TO: All District Employees FROM: Keiba Crear, Chair, Board of Trustees Thomas F. Fay, Deputy Director/COO DATE: August 20, 2014 SUBJECT: Anonymous Letters Earlier this week, a number of anonymous letters were distributed to individuals, branches and departments throughout the District. These letters make several accusations. Similar, anonymous letters were received by Board members in June. Since the accusations involved personnel, each accusation was discussed and addressed in the closed executive session at the June Board of Trustees meeting. All Board members were present for that discussion in addition to the District’s legal counsel. The District is committed to ensuring that all staff concerns are promptly and thoroughly investigated. Due to the nature of anonymous accusations, the District is necessarily limited in its ability to address such concerns. Staff is reminded that the District has a comprehensive Equal Employment Opportunity Policy and a Policy of Zero Tolerance for Harassment and Discrimination in its Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual, which set forth the procedures for raising a complaint or concern. These policies also state: The District strictly prohibits any form of retaliation against an employee who files a complaint or cooperates in an investigation. Therefore, if someone has a complaint of any nature, he or she may contact Tom Fay, Deputy Director/COO, in person or in writing at 7060 W. Windmill Ln., Las Vegas, NV 89113, by e-mail at [email protected], or by phone at xxx-xxx-xxxx. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated with appropriate action taken. In accord with the District’s policies, complaints may also be brought to the attention of any Human Resources staff member or any other supervisor or manager. In addition, represented employees have a detailed grievance procedure which is contained in each of the District’s collective bargaining agreements. Any disputes concerning potential violations of the collective bargaining agreements should be raised through the grievance process, in accordance with the agreement’s provisions. Finally, at one point staff had been instructed to collect the letters and send them back to Human Resources. At this time there is no need to collect these additional letters. However, if branch staff feel more comfortable or feel that it is prudent to send the letters, they may send them to Tom Fay, Deputy Director/COO via courier. They will be kept on file with the other letters that have been received. If you have any questions regarding this announcement, please contact Tom Fay by e-mail at [email protected], or by phone at xxx-xxx-xxxx

  • It Shouldn't Happen In Madison, WI
Homelessness affects everyone! During the depression people helped others! It is sickening that we are fining those who would want to help. My daughter has a college degree but is out of work. My niece has a masters but can't find a job that pays enough to even barely live. I am ashamed of our country. CEOs that make millions. Disgusting! Homelessness has children involved too.
