  • Easier Ways to Donate Plasma
I have been forced to fight for my life on several occasions because of the critical shortage of blood plasma. Patients who receive immunotherapy (IV immunoglobulin or subcutaneous immunoglobulin) are often notified that their medications may stop without notice because human blood plasma donations are either decreasing or being used for other products, such as Covid therapy. I am asking for a source plasma to be collected at more locations so that it can be used for immunotherapy. Source donors should be able to donate at various hospitals and the Red Cross and should never be turned away if the need is so great. Additionally, I would like for the plasma companies to conduct travel plasma clinics that would be similar to blood drives. Plasma is used for immune deficiencies, autoimmune deficiencies, cancer treatment, insect and animal bites in humans and many more.

  • Blankets Creek Dual Slalom
Dual Slalom is important for many reasons! This brings more riders/ racers to the area of Woodstock for our unique Dual Slalom course, It is a college discipline, and it would be a great new club to keep the trails maintained and safe for riders. The town of Woodstock is known for the downtown area with great food and people with great attitudes and an overall great atmosphere! When bikers think of Woodstock they immediately think of Blankets Creek. Just imagine how many more bikers will be here for the amazing trails, jump lines, and the Dual Slalom Course! Dual Slalom isn't extremely known like DH or XC within the middle school and High School community. This isn't good because Dual Slalom is a college discipline and racers are highly encouraged to race Dual Slalom no matter what their main discipline is. If Kelly Pruitt, Jay Wilkes, Leigh Pruitt, and Dave Saigh would be willing to add a Dual Slalom course to Blankets Creek then a group of riders that use the course would be willing to get together to maintain the course and keep it as safe as possible with often meetings on how we can keep the course at it's best.

  • Justice for Krista Baldivia and Alonzo Wilds
Krista Baldivia and Alonzo Wilds both left behind families. Krista left behind a mother, a father, 9 siblings, a husband, a daughter and a step-son. While Krista may not have been a pillar of the community she was a person and justice should be served the same as if she was the Frederick County Commonwealth Attorney's own blood. Her, and Mr. Wilds, criminal history should not overshadow the cause of their deaths and the actions of Heishman.

  • John Lewis Memorial Statue at BLM Plaza Washington DC
Congressman John Robert Lewis was an American Hero and one of our Forefather's of Civil Rights. From his early activism as one of the original 13 Freedom Riders, his speech at the March on Washington, his march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma Alabama on Bloody Sunday March 7, 1966, to his 33 years in Congress Congressman Lewis spent his life's work for diversity, inclusion, and equality for all. Congressman Lewis is a recipient of Profile in Courage Award by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation and the Presidential Medal of Freedom along with countless other accolades. Even as John Lewis was dying he continued to put others ahead of himself. Prior to his passing Congressman John Lewis had the forethought to have his letter published in the NY Times on the day of his funeral where he addressed the younger generations, “Now it is your turn to let freedom ring.” In his letter to the NY Times on seeing Black Lives Matter Plaza Congressman Lewis wrote "I just had to see and feel it for myself that, after many years of silent witness, the truth is still marching on." https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/30/opinion/john-lewis-civil-rights-america.html This is the time that we recognize this true American hero and not five, ten, or fifty years from now. Let us be more like Congressman John Lewis and be on the right side of this history.

  • Tell the MCPS Board of Ed: Don’t Fail Our Students!
Over the last ten months, Montgomery County Educators have been in negotiations with MCPS to make improvements to student learning conditions. Meanwhile, the bargaining team that represents the Montgomery County Board of Education has refused to commit to legally binding agreements that address the obstacles to equity and access, and that create transparency in how resources are used at the school level. Specifically, educators are asking MCPS for: 1. The ability to ensure Black, Brown, and economically disadvantaged students are not disproportionately taught by novice teachers. 2. Administration to work with educators to end the school-to-prison pipeline. 3. The time to consider and prepare for the diverse needs of each student. 4. Transparency in the decisions being made related to building repairs, instructional material distribution, and staffing allocations at schools. MCPS continues to state they do not have enough resources to meet various student needs, yet they are planning to spend public money to involve a paid mediator, rather than reach common-sense agreements with educators that don’t cost money. Are the positions of the MCPS bargaining team representative of what the Board of Education members want for every student in the system? If not, we the undersigned, call on the Montgomery County Board of Education to direct their bargaining team to meet and negotiate with educators and come to an agreement that best benefits students and the Montgomery County community.

  • Small Business Rent and Lease Renegotiation - COVID-19
In the last 5 months and counting, non-essential small businesses have not been able to open or generate any revenue, while rents and other expenses are still owed. County specific moratoriums only delay the payment of rents and evictions and do not protect small businesses from landlords collecting rents due from the mandatory closure. To obtain a commercial lease, small business owners personally guarantee the lease. Not only is the small business itself at risk of closing, business owners will face bankruptcy if landlords expect all rents during closure to be paid and expect rents to continue to be the same amount while the economic landscape has drastically changed. Commercial leases are generally very lengthy and primarily tip in the favor of the landlord, leaving the tenants little to no rights for rent relief or renegotiations. To-date, most non-essential small businesses that are allowed to reopen are operating at 10-30% of regular capacity, while some businesses are not able to use outdoor space to reopen, and others are not able to reopen at all. While earning zero to reduced revenues, overhead costs have also increased significantly for businesses with the new mandates to provide PPE, additional cleaning and sanitation, hazard pay, and other COVID-19 related expenses. It is nearly impossible for small businesses to survive the impacts of COVID-19. Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy. Without financial relief or a law in place to provide protection against commercial leases, more businesses will close and owners will declare financial bankruptcy. It is vital that Governor Newsom issue an executive order to provide small businesses relief and protection, and the ability to weather through the long term impacts of COVID-19 on our economy.

  • Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service: Remove Louis DeJoy
I am a tax paying American Citizen. Louis DeJoy is taking actions that are disrupting the mission of the United States Postal Service, which is to deliver US mail to the citizens of the US in a timely fashion. DeJoy has no experience or expertise that pertains to the USPS. In the last few months mail delivery has begun to take longer than it had prior to Mr. DeJoy being appointed to the position of US Postmaster General. Mail that would normally take 2-3 days to receive is now taking 4-6 days. This is in direct correlation to actions taken by Mr. DeJoy that deprioritize the timely delivery of our mail. In the midst of a global pandemic, when cases are surging and local officials are asking people to stay at home, it is imperative that the timely delivery of United States mail be made a priority. Mr. DeJoy is a barrier to this necessity.

  • Fight for life safety of Californians with disabilities and seniors, retain Exec Dir Alice Stebbins
With frequent large wildfires, many caused by utilities, with huge mandatory evacuations of hundreds of thousands every year, with planned power shut-offs that deprive people with disabilities and seniors of necessary medical and safety equipment, the CPUC and utilities have created or allowed life-threatening conditions in small towns and rural areas all over California. Mitigation programs like SGIP are inadequate and dangerous. Our communities have been able to work with Executive Director Alice Stebbins to make thee programs work better and to demand better services from the utilities. Please tell the Governor and the CPUC to allow this vital work to continue and conclude successfully. Thank you for your action.   HolLynn D’Lil Richard Skaff Walter Park [List of signatories attached]

  • Permanent Student Loan Administrative Forbearance
Temporary administrative forbearance expires on September 30. The pandemic is making it impossible for some and much harder for others to resume payments. We are in a recession. We have lost our jobs. We have had reduced hours. We have increased childcare costs. We are not working to take care of school aged children. We are unable to find jobs. We are drowning in debt. Cancelling federally owned debt would benefit the U.S. economy, reduce the massive wealth divide, and give hope to millions of Americans struggling in today’s economy. The CARES Act placed federal student loans in a temporary administrative forbearance but what is needed is a permanent solution. Our crushing debt require cancellation entirely.
