The Black Lives Matter movement means more than just stopping police-related death of people of color at the hands of law enforcement. It means looking at how racism plays into every aspect of American life. It is time that as Americans, we take a hard look at our racist institutions and ask ourselves if we’re willing to fight for long-lasting, systemic changes or if we are willing to continue with reformism and business as usual. Defunding the police does not mean less public safety. It means that instead of spending exorbitant amounts of money on policing the ailments of society, which solve nothing, we should be investing in programs that directly benefit over-policed, POC, and marginalized communities. I run a childcare facility that is providing childcare on days that children are not in school. Our families have not prepared for childcare costs during the school year. It is important that we provide an affordable program and keep costs down wherever possible. Tens of thousands of children living in food-insecure households are entering a school year that right now is not prepared to provide them with meals throughout the week. If our youth are not fed they will not be able to make the most of the school year and more children will fall behind in school. The impact of this will stick with the current generation of school-age children for the rest of their lives. Many families simply do not have the resources to provide breakfast and lunch for their children even in normal times. The USDA has allowed schools to provide this service since 1975 and it is more important today than ever before. Town officials are evaluating an economic development proposal called “Project Aisle” that will allow a HIGH INTENSITY INDUSTRIAL FACILITY to be zoned directly adjacent to agricultural and residential areas at Ronald Reagan Parkway and E County Road 400 N. This facility is in complete opposition for the positive development and reputation of our town. - It will operate 24 hours a day/7 days a week. - It hosts parking/staging areas for 200 semi-trucks that will be on a continuous rotation on our county roads. - The primary structure will be up to 160’ in height. That is 50’ higher than our current water towers and 10’ lower than Bankers Life Fieldhouse. - This automated facility will only hire up to 150 employees divided between 3 shifts. Not a significant number based on its dramatic environmental footprint. - Property values will decrease due to noise, increased traffic and obstructed views.

There is much confusion among parents and teachers regarding Mon County’s re-entry plan for the 2020-2021 school year. The official release posted on 8/14 states that remote is no longer an option. But in emails sent 8/15, the board president states that remote is still an option, and The Dominion Post indicates that remote learning is one of the three plans sent to the governor on 8/14. How can both be true? The new plan (every-other-day instruction, with no remote option) was not an option on the Mon County parent survey but appears now to be the only plan available for families who want their students to be taught by local teachers. Additionally, the burden is placed on teachers, even those with families themselves, to bear the brunt of both remote and in-person classes. As a result, many families (including those of teachers) are reeling, contemplating leaving jobs and jeopardizing their livelihoods in order to provide the assistance their children will need in any of the remaining options, including every-other-day instruction, virtual, or homeschooling.

The younger and more progressive Democrats are the future of the party. If there is a true desire to grow and build for the future then we need to have the younger voices heard. The Democrats of the past have so much speaking time but why only 60 seconds for one of the most relatable democrats for the younger generation of voters? It's way past due for the DNC to embrace the future. AOC is the future of the party.

This is important because even though open conversations like these can be challenging, ballet studios, schools, and companies should talk about the obstacles that race can provide in the ballet world and how to improve that in their community for the first step. Facilitating conversations around race, equity, diversity, and inclusion can be helpful in educating and getting people involved in the hope for eliminating racism. Racial equity is an ongoing process and conversation. Especially in the arts like ballet, it is indirectly nuanced so that BIPOC dancers are disadvantaged. The best way to change and promote racial equality in your surroundings is to have conversations that advocates for diversity and equality with people around you and use your voice to call attention to these matters.

Due to recent concerns regarding the ability of the USPS to effectively and timely deliver ballots and the health and safety concerns brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are requesting to have drive up locations placed throughout the state of Nevada where citizens can drop off their ballots safely. This alleviates the concern with the USPS delivery times as ballots would go directly to a voting poll location. Contactless delivery would also alleviate concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19.

We want to play. We believe that safety protocols have been established and can be maintained to mitigate concerns of exposure to Covid 19. There are people at high risk from the covid-19 virus who need to be able to vote by mail near their homes. Removing mail sorting machines before the election might result in ballots that were mailed on time not being forwarded in time to be counted.

Our democracy is hanging by a thread, Louis DeJoy, the 75th Postmaster General of the United States is a member of the Board of Trustees at Elon University. It is clear that he is involved in dismantling the U.S. Post Office and interfering with the political process and the United States Constitution. He, and Elon, need to be held accountable.

The most essential reason this is important is that it sends a signal from MoveOn to the U.S. military community that we are not worth including in their movement or campaigns. This in turn seems to reinforce the notion that the military is a monolith of conservatism, which is not borne out in the data, particularly amongst the younger, diverse, enlisted ranks (see: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/how-soldiers-really-vote/). Further, there are a large contingent of civilians, including teachers and other education professionals, living and working on military installations who exclusively rely on their APO address and are therefore prohibited from participating and receiving similar treatment as living in the U.S. and teaching at public schools. These teachers physically reside overseas, but retain a U.S. domestic mailing address through their APOs and teach at U.S. public schools. Then there is the matter of the USPS itself. Recently, MoveOn pushed a campaign, including a petition, to save the USPS from its current difficulties and threats by the POTUS to defund and disband the service. Those associated with overseas military installations rely exclusively on the USPS for their mail and packages, making it all the more ironic for those of us who supported that campaign whilst MoveOn continues to not support us through inclusion. MoveOn could do more for the USPS by including APOs than they might imagine. Don't exclude military and military associated personnel oversees from participating in MoveOn. The matter of adding APO addresses to the drop down menu and including our domestically-treated mailing addresses to the campaigns would be an easy, minor fix comparative to the gains of including those of us otherwise supportive of MoveOn.

A series of attacks including fire attacks,beating,being sliced with machetes and lack of shelters cover a group of one hundred thirty eight. This group tried to run for their lives and seemed refuge at UNHCR grounds but instead the officials gave the police chief of Kakuma an order to use any means and take the group back. Teargas,live amnition ,were used even when they very well knew we had young children as young as two days. They were forced on police patrol cars and dumped right in the worst homophobic ground and attacks resumed and the massive one which left over twenty nine LGBTQI LGBTQI persons hospitalized with cut wounds,dislocations,cracked skulls, yet it took four hours police just replied that we ho back to our countries find our fellow LGBTQI police to save us and UNHCR just switched off their help line number. And when the Kenya national emergency lines were called they only said that they only help nationals. Up to date attacks keep happening and out of desperation LGBTIQ persons have reached to committing suicide.
