In 1931-33 there was indeed a famine in the Ukraine. Famines were cyclical, occurring frequently. To combat famine, Soviet agriculture was modernized and collectivized, not only reducing famine, but providing a bountiful harvest, exactly the opposite of what the Grand Park monument says. The monument is a propaganda tool to cover up the fact that Ukrainians, under the leadership of Stephan Bandera participated in the holocaust against the Hewish people living in the Ukraine. The holodomor was not only a myth. It was and is a deliberate lie. Our school children should not be exposed to this vicious Nazi propaganda. The fascist glorification monument should be removed, and any public funds used in its construction and demolition should be returned. Our public property should not be used to build monuments to fascism!

My brother Bob is one of 52,000 Rhode Islanders who suffers from Serious Mental Illness. I've witnessed him struggle with schizophrenia since he was a teenager - and I’ve seen how much healthier and happier he is because of the services he receives from his community mental health center. Due to recent State budget cuts, 1,000 people with Serious Mental Illness have been stripped of their case managers. Case managers ensure their clients receive the medications, housing, clothing, and food that they require to thrive. Without such fundamental rights being met, those who are in the greatest of need, such as my brother, will suffer unnecessarily. We are obligated to help people with mental illness stay on their path towards wellness. I, and each person that signs this petition, believe people with mental illness should be provided every possible resource to become - and remain - healthy. We understand what could happen when these individuals lose their support systems. And we are deeply concerned about how this will negatively impact our community as a whole. Due to the recent loss of CNOM (Costs Not Otherwise Matchable) funding, 1,000 Rhode Islanders with Serious Mental Illness will no longer have access to their case managers. This will inevitably lead to increased rates of depression and anxiety, hospitalizations, and incarcerations. By signing this petition, I am calling upon Governor Chafee and Rhode Island State Legislators to find a way to reinstate CNOM funding so we can help people with Serious Mental Illness continue to get the support they deserve.

Two young girls were molested for most of their childhood which started at a campground. Once this man was out of prison, he was able to come right back to the campground. He stayed 9 days and never registered and by law he was supposed to if his stay was longer then 7 days. Molesters love power, control and destruction. They get their kicks in pushing boundaries. I too remember as a child of a man who befriended all the children only to molest. Campgrounds should be a safe family place. Child sex offender awareness needs to spread. We need to educate and protect from these offenders. 1 in every 4 girls and 1 in every 6 boys are molested by the age of 18. Not all offenders are strangers.

My dad had a hip replacement about 8 months ago, and I am a Freshman at FSU. I have personally parked in these disabled parking spaces before and helped my dad to the stadium. By taking away these parking spaces, my dad will have to walk an unnecessary distance. By moving these spaces, FSU is making the lives of people with disabilities that much harder.

Given the current climate in congress and recent rulings by the supreme court - it has become apparent that term limits are required in order to alleviate corruption in all branches of government. The executive branch has term limits for the president - it would then only make sense that the legislative and judicial branches should, too. Then, and only then, would real people, who work real jobs, have a real say in how this country moves forward. Otherwise, we will continue to hand it over to corporate interests. The choice is yours.

We need to stop the cruel way of taking of a life of a Bear. This barbaric practice needs to stop and there is no need for it to be seen on TV or to promote the killing of bears or any other form of life. This is not acceptable behavior to be seen on neither the History Channel nor any other television show.

Chris Christie has held over 120 public town hall events in cities across New Jersey. He has travelled the country stumping for the Republican Governor’s Association and promoting his own presidential aspirations. Unfortunately, he has avoided holding a Town Hall forum in his home town of Newark, the largest city in New Jersey and a city whose residents are struggling with urgent social and economic issues. Consider the following facts: ***Chris Christie re-appointed Cami Anderson as the superintendent of Newark Public Schools despite the broad and deep opposition to her leadership. Both the Newark Board of Education and the Newark City Council have passed votes of no confidence in Cami’s leadership. ***Chris Christie has refused to follow the state mandated funding formula for public schools, denying millions of dollars to educating Newark’s next generation. ***Chris Christie diverted funds meant for Sandy victims who live in the Ironbound neighborhood of Newark to his political supporters. To this day, families continue to struggle with the aftermath of the storm. ***Chris Christie diverted $75 million in bank settlement money meant for struggling homeowners to fund a tax break for the wealthiest New Jerseyans, leaving many Newark families in danger of losing their homes to foreclosure. All of these important decisions have been made without a meaningful process for local decision-making and participation by Newark’s residents. Yet, Chris Christie’s physical presence in Newark has been non-existent – at least to the general public’s knowledge. Join us and demand that Chris Christie schedules and attends a well-publicized Town Hall event in Newark to discuss the urgent issues that plague our city!

Despite warnings from the Health Policy Commission and leading health care experts that the merger of Partners HealthCare and South Shore Hospital – as well as Partners’ acquisition of Hallmark Health System – will drive up Massachusetts’ health care costs and hurt competition, Attorney General Martha Coakley approved the deal. Her decision to allow this merger is a disservice to the interests of patients, families, communities, and businesses throughout our state. It permits expansion of Partners’ market dominance in return for timid and unenforceable conditions of conduct. Furthermore, this deal is the product of secret, closed-door negotiations – a process bound to injure the public’s trust. The lack of an open dialogue involving the people of Massachusetts has denied residents, other health care providers, and employers the chance to voice legitimate and serious objections to this expansion of Partners’ market power. This is a time when rising health care cost is the most important single obstacle to the ability of businesses in our state to grow and hire workers. In addition, millions of individuals and families across Massachusetts struggle under the cost of care and worry about their continuing access to the providers of their choice. At bottom, the people of Massachusetts simply cannot afford this deal. It will harm the Massachusetts health care system for a decade. We urge Judge Sanders to reverse Attorney General Coakley’s unwise and imprudent decision. It will cause permanent and irreparable harm to the Massachusetts health care system.
