Iowans Tell Secretary Hillary Clinton to listen to Martin O’Malley – Don’t send children to certa...In 18 months, Iowans, like myself, will help nominate the next president of the United States. We want a leader who will fight for real solutions -- not just more appeasement and political expediency. Right now, thousands of children are literally fleeing for their lives, as violence tears apart their communities in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. Secretary Hillary Clinton believes these children should be immediately deported and sent “a clear message: just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean the child gets to stay.” Governor O’Malley – another 2016 Democratic candidate— has a different idea: “We are not a country that should turn children away and send them back to certain death.” It's critical that we Iowans use our political power to tell candidates running for President, especially the front runner Hillary Clinton, that we want real solutions and real leadership – not just political expediency. Tell Secretary Hillary Clinton to listen to Martin O’Malley: Don’t advocate for sending children to their deaths.107 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Matt Hildreth

Congress: Don't let small business down: Reject FAST TRACK of the Trans Pacific PartnershipThe TPP, like its precursor the North American Free Trade Agreement, will harm the local economy. Leaked sections contain many troubling provisions: Reinstate SOPA and give unearned competitive advantage to legacy media companies. Privilege major financial institutions over credit unions and the emerging sector of public banks. Weaken current safety regulations including food inspections, and allow importation of food not up to American safety standards. Hinder renewable energy producers by blocking regulations and limiting deployment of smart grid and other infrastructure. Of greatest concern, the pact would allow corporations to sue governments in an international tribunal, and force the reversal of sound regulations. Please sign, and indicate in the comment section your private sector connection, so our legislators know that prosperity and security are only enhanced when each nation builds an economy that respects human rights, reflects local conditions, and supports small businesses. Resettle Central American children and their mothersI'm ashamed of the Americans who demonstrate against mothers and children who made a difficult, frightening journey to arrive at our door, the land of the free. We should make room for them as those before us made room for us.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Linda Hauser

University of Miami is no Environmental StewardThe University is no longer a steward to the environment after knowingly selling imperiled rockland to a developer who plans a bigbox/strip mall complex. The signers of this petition ask that the University of Miami remove from its website and marketing any self-identification as a steward of the environment.121 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Dara Vance

Comcast: Don't Fire That Poor Customer Service RepresentativeHundreds of thousands of people have listened to the customer service call that Ryan Block recorded with a Comcast customer service representative. While Ryan and his wife tried to terminate their Comcast service, the representative aggressively pushed them for reasons why, and wouldn't let Ryan end his service without an explanation. Ryan and hundreds of others have pointed out the real problem here: that Comcast employee was certainly too aggressive, but he works at a company with a legendarily terrible work culture and, according to Consumer Reports, one of the lowest customer satisfaction ratings in the country. If we want to have real power over whether or not we're at either end of this kind of interaction in the future -- as consumers with little choice in our broadband provider, or as workers locked into a system that drains us of choices and of self respect -- we need to make sure Comcast doesn't fire this worker -- and we need to fight hard in Congress and at the Federal Communications Commission to block the proposed merger of Comcast and Time Warner Cable that would expand Comcast's reach to tens of millions more customers nationwide. Comcast, don't fire this poor employee. Congress, hear this call as a warning -- a Comcast/Time Warner merger would be devastating for workers and consumers alike.409 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Hannah Sassaman

Cove Point Pledge of ResistanceOn Sunday, July 13, an estimated 1,500 concerned and affected people marched to the offices of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in Washington, DC. Their purpose was to protest the pending approval of Dominion Resources’ Cove Point LNG Export Facility. The following day, more than forty people disrupted the operation of the FERC for several hours as an act of civil disobedience, resulting in the arrest of twenty-five protesters. We directly affected residents and supporters remain committed to stopping further shale gas infrastructure in order to protect the health of our communities and all people, as well as to halt further driving of climate change. If constructed, the Cove Point LNG Export Facility would release over 2 million tons per year of greenhouse gas emissions, making it the fourth largest emitter in Maryland and would provide an international market for hydraulically-fractured natural gas, locking communities throughout the Marcellus Shale region into a future with more wells, fracking, and pipelines. The Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline, a Williams Company project, is currently before FERC. If constructed, it will deliver gas directly from Pennsylvania to Cove Point. The environmental review of Cove Point should include an impact analysis of Atlantic Sunrise. We, the undersigned, make the following pledge to ensure that FERC deny projects that will exacerbate environmental and health problems at the points of extraction, transportation, refining, and disposal of natural gas products. "We pledge, if necessary, to join others in our communities, and engage in acts of nonviolent civil disobedience that could result in our arrest in order to send the message to FERC Commissioners that they must take the voices of impacted residents seriously and reject the Cove Point Export Facility, the Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline, and subsequent gas infrastructure projects that unduly impact the health and well-being of our communities." Too Many Kids in Arizona Go HungryRight now, the childhood hunger problem in America is inexcusably big – affecting more than 1 in 5 children. We know that adequate food and good nutrition, particularly in a young child’s life, has a very important impact on a child’s capacity for future learning and on their lifelong economic productivity. But our leaders are not giving this problem the attention it warrants. For decades, Republicans and Democrats have come together to support programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Research shows that kids who get help from programs like SNAP do better in school and better in life. But hunger in America is big and is getting worse as income inequality becomes more extreme. This is a trend that we need to reverse now. We need to show our state and federal officials that Arizonans have had enough of hungry kids. It's time to end childhood hunger. Better Pay for cosmetologists and barbersWe spend $14,000.00 to $25,000.00 to go to college for our education. We currently make minimum wage and 85% of us can't pay our bills, buy food or feed our children or even afford health care under the new affordable care act. It's sad that a 16 year old still in high school can get a part-time job making $.50 - $1.00 more an hour than we do. We work full- time and make roughly $600-$700 monthly that is $15,600 - $18,200 yearly. At these rates we can't afford to live let alone pay back our student loans. Some of us are so far in debt that we need to declare bankruptcy, however bankruptcy doesn't help with our student loans they are still there, they do not go away. So if not being able to pay our student loans and purchase just the basic needs to live and we declare bankruptcy when we come out of bankruptcy we are in fact still in the same sticky situation. Is it right for us to spend this money on education and be paid less than someone who is still in high school? We think it is unfair and we are demanding that this be re-evaluated.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elizabeth Shores
