Diaspora VoteOrganizing for Sierra Leone is an umbrella group of Sierra Leoneans seeking good governance, accountability and a better quality of life for Sierra Leoneans wherever they may be but most importantly for citizens residing in Sierra Leone. Most members and supporters of this organization would be better served if this petition results in a resolution that will solve this injustice. This is a petition to give Sierra Leoneans or dual citizens of Sierra Leone their constitutional right to vote in elections for every public office in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora are interested to make contributions in the area of governance in Sierra Leone by seeking a leadership that can explore and deliver a vision to attain Sierra Leone's fullest potential. Diasporans have contributed immensely to the economy of Sierra Leone by their remittances to support family and small businesses. Diasporans can't just remain outside spectators or a pool for sustenance of an increasingly dependent population. Diasporans seek an economy where the people are offered tools and an enabling environment to attain their highest potential that would improve on their quality of life. We can partner with our fellow countrymen at home to select leaders with a vision and commitment to stem the regression in our quality of life, create upward mobility in creating real hope to fulfill our collective dream of Sierra Leone as the paradise God created for all of us. Please sign this petition to give a voice to a large segment of our countrymen disenfranchised because of their circumstances or due to a lack of vision to tap this valuable portion of our human resources. We demand our rightful heritage as Sierra Leoneans as well as our constitutional right to vote as citizens. May our dreams become reality for a better Sierra Leone. Save Hofmann Forest from being destroyedHofmann Forest has been owned for the benefit of NC State University for 80 years, ever since "Doc" Hofmann purchased the tract for his newly founded School of Forestry. Now, however, the leaders of NCSU are trying to sell this huge coastal forest for $150 million, so they can invest the proceeds in Wall Street instead. And the buyer they've chosen prepared detailed plans to bulldoze 45,000 acres of the forest into cropfields (to grow corn which would feed corporate hogs) and another 9000 acres into golf courses and strip malls. This would be disastrous for wildlife, water quality (3 rivers flow out of Hofmann Forest), and the reputation of NC State University.11,935 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by Ron Sutherland

Please do not vote in favor of *any* of the reapportionment plans that would reduce the size of o...We cannot create an effective school board by undermining the local democratic control of our schools. Moreover, the proposed school board reduction: --Is not supported by a thorough review of business principles or typical business practices --Is not supported by practices of other school districts in Louisiana --Not one proposal reapportions the districts in line with the racial make-up of our school district --Has not been pre-screened by the Justice Department and leaves the school district vulnerable to legal challenges ◦ NAACP released statement of opposition --Increases the number of constituents each school board member must serve --Privileges candidates with more personal wealth or ability to garner support from wealthy contributors --Alters current map less than one month before candidates must qualify144 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Tania Nyman

Another 'Zombie Development?' Vote NO on the Santolina Master Plan! The Santolina Master Plan is a massive 13,700 acre development that is being proposed to be built on the West Mesa. At build-out, it will have over 37,000 housing units with a population of over 95,000. There are many factors that should concern us regarding the Santolina Master Plan: • The hefty price tag that taxpayers will have to cover (schools and roads alone are already estimated at over $1 billion!) • It proposes an exorbitant level of water use - over 19 million gallons of water per day - these amounts of water required to support the Santolina Master Plan are concerning and are simply not viable in our times of drought • It would increase aquifer depletion in the Rio Grande Basin • It poses a subsequent de-watering of wells in both the North and South Valleys • The “retirement” or transfer of acequia Pre-1907 water rights from irrigated lands in the Middle Rio Grande Administrative Area (MRGA) to satisfy the conditions of approval for the ABCWUA ground water permit RG-960, thus if the Santolina Master Plan is approved, it is likely that Acequias who have ‘vested’ pre-1907 water rights would be threatened. • It would be built on a highly erodible area of large sand dunes • Bottom line, the Santolina Master Plan poses a threat to the cultural, historic and natural tapestry of our Acequias and our precious green belt along the Rio Grande. The Santolina Master Plan WILL negatively impact the well being and livelihood of our city and our communities.1,561 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Contra Santolina Working Group

President Obama, tell Israel to stop the bombardment of GazaI have supported Israel my entire life and I still do. However, I cannot support the occupation or the blockade of Gaza. And now the bombing of innocent people in Gaza utterly sickens me. And the United States can stop it because Israel depends on our aid money and our weapons. We must use our leverage to stop the killing.54 of 100 SignaturesCreated by MJ Rosenberg
