• Stop US Munitions from being used by Israel to Attack Gaza Civilians
I am disgusted by the civilian death and destruction in Gaza caused by Israel firing our weapons into the most densely inhabited place on Earth, and the world's inability to stop it.

  • Congress: The Time Is Now to Protect Voters. Modernize the VRA
Over a year ago, the U.S. Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act. Now states and localities around the country are making changes that will discriminate against voters based solely on the color of their skin or the language they speak. And voters will feel the impact of these changes this November. Congress must protect all voters by passing the bipartisan Voting Rights Amendment Act (VRAA), enacting modern, nationwide protections against discrimination at the ballot box. Since the VRAA (HR 3899/S 1945) was introduced this January, the Senate has held one hearing on the bill, and the House has failed to act. Inaction is not an option. Every day Congress fails to live up to their constitutional obligation to protect the right to vote, it gives a free pass to voting discrimination. Sign the petition to make sure your member of Congress hears from you about your support for voting rights.

  • Mayor Coleman: Make Public Safety a Priority
The St. Paul Police Department likely will have less money to work with when Mayor Chris Coleman unveils his budget proposal this month. Serious cuts to the department will eliminate dozens of civilian jobs and end technological innovations. Paperwork that was once performed by civilians will shift to sworn officers. These new clerical duties will reduce the amount of time patrol sergeants are on the street. This also means there will be less time for intensive investigations, crime-lab procedures, stakeouts, drunk driving arrests, and riot control. Mayor Coleman's proposed budget cuts are threatening the very lifeline of safety in the city of Saint Paul. Tell Mayor Coleman the city of Saint Paul is unwilling to compromise its safety!

  • Senator Mikulski: Restore PEPFAR Funding Now!
This June, the Senate Appropriations Committee voted to cut $300 million from global AIDS programs. This cut comes on top of an additional $600 million in cuts since 2011. The result of the proposed budget cut would be the lowest rate of enrollment in antiretroviral treatment since PEPFAR’s inception – almost flat-lining after years of steep improvements. Full funding of PEPFAR is absolutely essential in ensuring that millions of people living with HIV/AIDS are receiving high quality antiretroviral therapy. The Senate’s proposal to flat fund PEPFAR threatens to leave millions of people with HIV relegated to waitlists instead of starting life-saving treatment. We demand that Senator Mikulski speak up to restore the Senate’s proposed $300 million cut to PEPFAR. As Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Mikulski has the power to ensure the reversal of these cuts. She must not allow a lack of political will to result in the devastation of global AIDS programs.

  • Concerned Clergy Oppose Proposed Dominion Pipeline
The proposed Dominion Southern Reliability Pipeline constitutes an unnecessary intrusion into the lives and property of those in its path. The proposed pipeline could utilize existing pipeline easements instead of further jeopardizing the legacy of those who will come after us. We urge you to abandon your proposal for this pipeline.

  • Free Lucky: The Elephant Left to Die in Solitary Confinement
Lucky the elephant, held at the San Antonio Zoo, is to be kept in solitary confinement for the rest of her life, despite the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' bylaw that states that elephants in captivity must be kept with at least two other elephants, which will be active in 2016. The Tennessee Elephant Sanctuary has offered to take Lucky in, but Steve McCusker, the former director of the San Antonio Zoo, claims that she is "weird" and too old to be moved into a sanctuary with other elephants. The San Antonio Zoo has been rated by In Defense of Animals as the No. 1 WORST zoo in the country, and Lucky's circumstances are proof of just that.
