With no buffer zones, Boston archbishop should speak out against clinic harassmentOn December 30, 1994, a man walked into a Planned Parenthood clinic in Massachusetts, shouted "This is what you get! You should pray the rosary!" and shot the receptionist to death. So with the support of local law enforcement, Massachusetts passed a law prohibiting protests within 35 feet of abortion clinics. Yesterday, the United States Supreme Court struck that law down. Today, women in Massachusetts are wondering whether, at their next medical appointment, they'll end up face to face with people who shout, spit, and threaten -- all while calling themselves "pro-life Christians." Boston Archbishop Sean O'Malley has the power to set a very different example. Yes, he's well-known for his opposition to abortion -- but also for his thoughtful and pastoral approach to church leadership. Cardinal O'Malley should immediately call on Massachusetts Catholics to voluntarily refrain from holding protests outside abortion clinics -- and remind the nation that, no matter what you think about abortion, there's nothing Christian about harassment and intimidation.94 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael Sherrard

Save the SF Design CenterThe design district in San Francisco is fighting to save our community and industry. Big tech has infiltrated our neighborhood and increased commercial rent by over 300%. The SFDC building owners want to push us out and displace an entire network of thriving businesses in order to capitalize on higher rents. We will lose good paying blue collar PDR jobs in San Francisco. The landmark status change will displace an entire ecosystem of women-owned and LGBT friendly businesses.2,442 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Roberto Tiscareno

Mayor Richard J. Notte: Finish Sidewalks on Clinton RiverAs you know the Clinton River is a very busy place, full of families and constant people traveling by foot, so its clear to me that Clinton River road that runs along this river should have finished paved sidewalks that connect to the others. I walk daily from the house to the neighboring subdivisions and I feel in great danger doing so with my 8 month old in her stroller, you should fund this immediately.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christina Modrzejewski

One Path To Less ViolenceTO REDUCE VIOLENCE One Path is a consciousness raising initiative intended to remind US of Our power to reduce violence and suffering as we are able to transcend boundaries, distortions, blocks and Be more Present with One another at home, school, neighborhood, work. ( formerly 1% a peace army) " Not until we look into the face of every man and every woman and see Our brother and sister....only then have we seen the light; All else is still darkness!" an Old Hasidic Tale. For every instance of cruelty, neglect, intimidation, terror, war mongering there is a life force able to thwart each and every distortion with Our simple presence ( whether it be a bully, a cruel employer, an abusive partner, parent or deranged leader, etc.) "There are mostly good, decent folks in the world and away down deep in the depths of Our consciousness each One of us is hearing the same small voice: I want an earth that is healthy, a home, neighborhood, school, world at peace, a heart filled with love and safe happy children23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by jack francis winn

IN LIGHT OF EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES EMERGING IN THE POLITICAL ARENA OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERIC...This Petition is an ANSWER to the CLAMORING OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR THE IMPEACHMENT OF PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA. The purpose of this Petition is to ensure that a faulty vote count by hacking of electronic voting equipment does not result in a Republican Establishment of MAJORITY SEATING IN THE U.S. SENATE - which would be followed by IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS AGAINST PRESIDENT OBAMA.264 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Linda Rosch

District 1 - BISDCurrent Board Trustee of District 1 has been making ill-informed decisions against the will of the people of his district, despite obvious community dissent. Specifically, authorizing the continuation of litigation fighting TEA's decision to take over the Board of Trustees and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to do so, while at the same time laying off valuable teachers.30 of 100 SignaturesCreated by District 1 - BISD

Norfolk City Council: Protect Public Health, Pass Coal Dust ResolutionAnnually, over 90,000 lbs of fugitive coal dust from Norfolk Southern's coal terminal operations rains down on the people and property in the surrounding neighborhoods of Lambert's Point, West Ghent, Larchmont and points beyond. Coal dust contains arsenic, mercury and other heavy metals, which have been linked to neuro-developmental delays in children, lung cancer, pneumonia, emphysema, bronchitis, asthma attacks, heart disease and premature death. Taking the reasonable measures of covering the dumpers, the conveyors and the coal cars could significantly reduce the volume of coal dust released into the air and the river water.611 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Joe Cook

Open Plum Island, MA, BeachAfter an endangered species makes a good return, the shoreline should be open for the enjoyment and unique sense of peace obtained from communion with our nation's natural resources. In addition, revenue generated may create teen lifeguard/stewardship jobs and funding for other local efforts and community events. Civics for All!!! Support this Seattle K-12 Civics Initiative now!The Civics for All Initiative would lift civics requirements in the Seattle Public Schools (SPS)and thereby lift students' civic awareness and engagement. Currently, K-12 students in Seattle know little about civics, about how government works and about their rights and duties as citizens. This is because Seattle's civics education requirements are embarrassingly small. Support for Civics for All has been enormous but the school district has so far shown little interest in this three-year-old proposal. We need you to help convince them! Thanks!
