All to often, childhood sexual abuse goes unreported. Many children are shamed into silence. Others may mentally block the trauma until years later when they feel safe enough to reveal it. Some cases are even covered up once reported in family and religious settings. This may further cause legal complications when the perpetrator moves to another state. Conditions like these cause more children to be abused. The law was created to serve and protect. Please sign this petition so that pedophiles may be brought to justice.

A friend of mine has an 8 year old cousin who, while riding a NYC bus (with her mother) was video- taped by a complete stranger. The stranger (a teenager) posted the video of the child on Facebook with sexual content. All this was done without the knowledge or permission of the parent. Facebook was informed and refused to remove the video as it did not violate their policy. The video was viewed over 100 times within 12 hours. The comments were both demeaning and degrading toward the minor and their family. As adults, a standard of what acceptable behavior MUST be risen especially if we expect our youth & young adults to rise to such a standard. We MUST share openly to both youth & young adults what we believe is socially acceptable. We MUST also accept responsibility for our part in looking the other way. Each time we look away, someone else's child is being exploited, abused, bullied, threatened, and miseducated.

In the case of Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, an injustice has been done to the rights of women. Corporations should not be given the same rights as people. They have been given the right to free speech, political expenditures and now are able to deny women health coverage of the following contraceptives: Ella, Plan B and IUDs. Corporations should only have limited liability and privileges given from our government for providing goods and services to the people. That's as far as it goes; corporations simply aren't people and shouldn't be treated as people. Hobby Lobby still covers Viagra and vasectomies, yet covering IUDs and the morning after pill is an issue. This isn't a controversy concerning religious freedom; however, this is a matter of women's rights. If this was about religious freedom, the religious rights of the Hobby Lobby employees would be considered. A female employee for Hobby Lobby should not have her right for coverage of Plan B, Ella or IUDs taken away because of the religious beliefs of an owner of a corporation. Women deserve the right to reproductive freedom and full healthcare. This Supreme Court decision could also disturb the rights of the LGBT community or the ability to receive coverage for vaccinations or blood transfusions due to this supposed religious freedom of corporations. My son was abused by his father's girlfriend. Because she was not a direct relative, and did not abuse him more than once, no injunction could be granted. Protecting our children should be the state's number one concern.

We are all responsible for helping the environment. Every year Americans alone use 100 billion plastic grocery bags and only 15% are recycled. Many of these bags end up killing aquatic animals and filling up landfills where toxins then seep into ground water or water streams. Eastchester should join towns like Larchmont, Rye and Mamaroneck and ban the retail use of plastic bags.

Largely on the basis of Dykhoff (December 2013), the Work Comp judge decided (June 2014) against my wife Mariani's case of slip-and-fall at St. Cloud Hospital. The Mn Supreme Court should reverse its decision on Dykhoff under pressure from Mn Senate and House of Representatives. The purpose of Work Comp in Mariani's case, too, was not fully served. There is no such thing as a no-fault claim in work related injuries for many Minnesotans anymore. Protections for employees from employers should remain in place or unfair practices will prevail.

Matthew Parker is former heroin addict who has been drug and crime free for 12 years. As an ex-felon he has not just served all of his time in prison, but has since gone on to earn a bachelor's degree from a good four-year college and a master's from an Ivy League school. He has also published a memoir and teaches creative writing, yet is still barred from voting in his home state of Arizona. Matthew wrote this petition because it is his firm belief that, like most ex-felons who have done their time and pay their taxes, he should be afforded representation like every other tax-paying American Citizen. Ms.Fuegen Sellers is immune against the claims for slander and libel as they are explicitly on the list of excluded claims. She is also immune to allegations of physical and mental abuse, which are not torts, but appear to be functional equivalent of assault. She is also immune to the claims of obtaining false information and" breech of verbal contract" as they are the equivalent of misrepresentation or deceit. Friends of the Earth tested “bee-friendly” garden plants from Home Depot, Lowe's and Walmart in 18 cities across the U.S. and Canada. The tests found more than half of the plant samples tested contained neonicotinoid (neonic) pesticides at levels that could harm or kill bees--with no warning to consumers. So, instead of helping bees in our gardens, we may be unknowingly poisoning them. Thousands of people across the country have signed petitions, sent letters and taken to the streets. They've asked retailers, including Home Depot and Lowe’s, to stop selling neonic pesticides. While we are making some progress and are in dialogue, these and other garden retail giants have yet to publicly commit to getting neonics off their shelves. Pledge to only purchase neonic-free, organic garden plants and seeds. We’ll deliver these pledges to Lowe’s, Home Depot and other top retailers and demand that they listen to sound science and their customers and give bees a chance!

Millions of Americans depend on Pell Grants each year to be able to make college more affordable. Research has shown that need-based grant aid, like Pell Grants, increases college enrollment among low- and moderate-income individuals. But with college costs skyrocketing over the last three decades, Pell Grants have lost much of their purchasing power. The Middle Class CHANCE Act, introduced in the Senate by Sens. Mary Landrieu (LA) and Mazie Hirono (HI), and the House by Rep. Loretta Sanchez (CA-16) seeks to combat the financial hindrance on college access for these individuals by increasing the purchasing power of Pell.
