Recent reinterpretation of law by a state agency has abruptly and unjustifiably eliminated the protective natural buffer along Georgia's marshlands and other contiguous wetlands. The health and productivity of Georgia's tidal marshes will be degraded by eliminating the buffer, jeopardizing coastal fisheries, recreational areas, tourism, and quality of life. To prevent such threats the buffer must be restored. Since 1997, the Center for a Sustainable Coast has represented the public interest in safeguarding Georgia's coastal resources including shorelines, waterways, wildlife habitat, fisheries and vast areas of tidal marsh.

Consumers have a right to know whether the foods we eat contain GMOs, and special interests like Monsanto should not be spending millions to leave us in the dark.

Local citizens have personally maintained the channel markers throughout the years. We were informed by Hillsborough County that we are not allowed to continue doing this. For the safety of all the boaters coming in and out of Rocky Creek daily it is necessary to petition to have Rocky Creek channel markers installed and maintained properly as requested.

The Washington Post actually just published an opinion piece mocking sexual assault survivors and saying that women want to be raped. The author, conservative columnist George Will, goes so far as to write that colleges are making "victimhood a coveted status" by taking public steps to curb sexual assaults on campus. He even implies that non-consensual sex is not rape, when in fact it's the very definition of rape! George Will makes his living writing columns that many people disagree with. But his latest column has gone too far. Rape is a serious crime--accusing women of making it up and arguing schools shouldn't be addressing sexual assault puts both women and men at risk. By publishing George Will's piece, The Washington Post is amplifying some of the most insidious lies that perpetuate rape culture. It's not just wrong--it's dangerous.

The Westford Community has not had the chance to thoroughly discuss the new assessment test called PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career) which may, or may not be a replacement for MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System). As a result, we think it's best for Westford to hold off implementing PARCC for the 2014-2015 school year.

I, Helena chin was employed with Stern's/Macy's since 1993. In May 2013, I made a purchase and was given samples as a courtesy. When I checked out with security, I was told it was too many samples. I tried to explain, but security grabbed the stuff and sent me home. I left the building feeling angry, then a few days later I was let go by HR on grounds of violation store policy. I feel this is unjustified, and unfair. I need to be heard. Macy's is like family to me, I love my job . Yes, fluoride occurs naturally in some waters and so do other toxics like lead and arsenic. What the dentists didn't tell you is public municipalities are using a synthetic waste version of fluoride, mostly scrubbed from the exhaust stacks of phosphate fertilizer plants. And it's not the pharmaceutical fluoride in toothpaste, which advises you to seek immediate help from a poison control center if you swallow anything larger than a pea size serving. There's a serious reason behind the warning. This is where real science legitimizes our concerns about what this halogen is doing to our teeth and body tissues. The dentists didn't explain that international peer-reviewed studies have confirmed fluoride eventually wears down the enamel of a tooth surface, rather than improving it. In fact, 41 percent of younger Americans now have some type of dental fluorosis, the pitting and discoloring of the teeth from an overexposure of fluoride. And it doesn't stop there. More international teams have found fluoride can negatively affect the thyroid, the brain, the nervous system, and is a proven contributor to bone cancer in young boys. Even the vaunted Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a warning that fluoridated water should not be mixed with baby formula because its fluoride dose is 250 times greater than mother's breast milk. Should a public municipality be in charge of an individual’s oral hygiene? And if fluoridated water is in everything from processed foods to taking a shower, then managing the dosage is absolutely impossible.
