• Tell Campbell Soup Company to Protect Rainforests, Orangutans and People: Cut Conflict Palm Oil!
If we care about our kids' future, we can no longer buy products that harm our planet. The Campbell Soup Company, one of the biggest companies in Camden, NJ, is also one of the biggest buyers of palm oil in the world. Much of that palm oil drives mass deforestation in Indonesia. Campbell could easily help protect people and rainforests if it adopted a policy to buy responsible palm oil instead of Conflict Palm Oil. The damage caused by Conflict Palm Oil is tremendous. Deforestation to make way for palm oil plantations threatens unique and priceless ecosystems. It threatens species like the Sumatran tiger and orangutans. The impact on communities who are forced off their land or pushed into forced and child labor is simply unacceptable. The destruction of forests is also releasing carbon into the atmosphere and driving climate change. Other companies are already dropping Conflict Palm Oil from their products. It’s time Campbell did the same. Would you help us put some pressure on Campbell by signing this petition? We’ll make sure it’s a message they can’t ignore.

  • Tell Kraft Foods to Protect Rainforests, Orangutans and People: Cut Conflict Palm Oil!
If we care about our kids' future, we can no longer buy products that harm our planet. That’s why I’m ashamed to say that my neighbor Kraft Foods, one of the biggest companies in the Chicago area, uses Conflict Palm Oil in its products. Much of that palm oil drives mass deforestation in Indonesia. Kraft could easily help protect people and rainforests if it adopted a policy to buy responsible palm oil instead of Conflict Palm Oil. The damage caused by Conflict Palm Oil is tremendous. Deforestation to make way for palm oil plantations threatens unique and priceless ecosystems. It threatens species like the Sumatran tiger, Sumatran rhino, and orangutans. The impact on communities who are forced off their land or pushed into forced and child labor is simply unacceptable. • Deport Immigrant Advocating for Convicted Murderer
A Belgium National has been allowed to come to the United States, marry a convicted imprisoned killer, obtain a green card, take an American job, and advocate for the release of this convicted murderer. She has also fought against the victim's family and their first amendment rights. Tell our lawmakers inmates should not be allowed to marry behind bars and that this is unjust, unacceptable, and un-American. http://www.legalnews.com/detroit/872056 http://www.theoaklandpress.com/general-news/20110215/after-marrying-man-in-prison-for-murder-rochester-hills-woman-seeks-green-card http://articles.wsbt.com/2011-02-14/green-card_28535927 http://www.northwestohio.com/news/story.aspx?id=580814#.U20FtGdOXcs https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/dailybrew/prison-pen-pal-relationships-lead-marriages-best-selling-20110308-131717-209.html http://www.penmighty.com/blogfiles/5897/woman-traveled-from-belgium-to-marry-man-convicted-of-second-degree-murder/

  • Let us Vote
Conservatives in Lansing are using a political ploy to stop the minimum wage campaign in its tracks. This proposal is yet another attempt from conservatives to subvert the will of the people. It is clear that momentum and public opinion are on our side and they are scared. Sign our petition demanding lawmakers allow the people to vote to raise the minimum wage!

  • JUSTICE FOR RACHEL
THE State's Attorney Office in Champaign, IL informed us that they will not seek chargers for Rachel's attack. A Champaign-Urbana Parkland College Student was ATTACKED in her APARTMENT! The VICTIM LOST the use of her RIGHT HAND due to a MOB ATTACK by 6 other Students and 1 adult, against a 19 year old VICTIM in HER RESIDENCE (NOT OUTSIDE). The girls attacked the victim knowing she had surgery 2 days prior. The victim's MOM was on the phone with her daughter as the attacked occurred. They both had no IDEA that one 19 year would bring 5 others to her apartment for a PLANNED and PREMEDITATED ATTACK!

  • STOP "Behind Closed Doors" Ballot Tabulation
I used to assist my grandmother with the election process in our neighborhood. She used to stay up until 3 am tabulating votes in public. The results were transmitted before she left the election site. My mother-in-law also did this. My experience working with ballots made me realize that our democracy is literally in OUR hands. Somehow a generation has lost this connection. Budget and time conscious people have moved to the cheaper more efficient systems without understanding the high consequence. So many people have lost their lives for this freedom and it has been watered down to a very weak system that is far too easy to corrupt. We must have a system that will stand --not in our best days--but in our worst days. The time-honored precinct system--though not perfect--was in the local citizen control.

  • Expand Medicaid patients' access to physicians
Well-established physicians, particularly those in suburban practices, have little incentive to accept Medicaid because they can fill their schedules with patients whose insurance offers higher payments. This means that people who rely on Medicaid are largely shunted to a limited number of doctors, often those with less experience or lesser credentials, for example, no board certifications. "Healthcare for all" should mean "all healthcare for all."

  • Protect small farms in Michigan!
"Protecting small farms in Michigan should be a top priority. Many farmers' markets are a consortium of small farms producing local produce. This is a vital part of local economies in many areas in Michigan and around the country. Michigan lawmakers should support the rights of individuals not just the interest of big business." • Save our local Potato Farmers
Our local potato fields are located in very rural areas. There is no reason to require fencing and 24 hour security guards with the threat of terrorism here in the U.P. Our local potato farmers have provided potatoes for many years. How heartbreaking that some are now shutting down their family businesses due to new federal regulations. Please sign to support your local potato farmer.
