  • Ban the Bomb Trains
Due to the boom in hydrofracking, oil and gas companies have a glut of product to transport to refineries on the coasts of America. They are transporting this highly volatile, explosive crude over antiquated rail lines in tank cars designed to carry corn syrup and molasses. The federal government reports that last year, more than 1.15 million gallons of crude oil leaked and spilled from rail tank cars. That's more than was spilled in all the previous forty years! Top federal rail administrator Karl Alexy recently stated that it is impossible to "design a rail car strong enough to withstand crude oil rail train accidents ..." In August, 2013, forty-seven innocent people were incinerated when these cars derailed and exploded in Lac Megantic, Quebec. It's expected to cost billions to rebuild Lac Megantic and compensate the victims, but the railroad and the crude oil owner have "gone out of business." In December, 2013, a 106-car crude oil train derailed in Castleton, North Dakota. Eighteen tank cars exploded; the fired burned for two days. On April 30, 2014, six DOT-111 rail cars of a virtual pipeline of crude derailed and exploded in Lynchburgh, Virginia, burning for hours and polluting the water supplies for thousands of people. These DOT-111 rail cars were declared unsafe and hazardous by US and Canadian railroad officials in 2011, yet they are still carrying millions of gallons of explosive crude oil through unsuspecting and helpless communities all across the United States, every day. This is wrong. President Obama can use his authority under last March's Executive Order to halt this unprecedented and unnecessary risk today. Let's make this happen before another person dies in flames.

  • Enact an Anti Vigilante~Gang Stalking Law
I am an Anti Public Corruption Activist and Investigative blogger that has proven positive the corruption I allege. I have become highly targeted as a result of this and am the victim of near daily reprisal and retaliation. I am trying to get legislation enacted to address the hate crime of vigilante stalking aka, cause stalking, gang stalking, mob stalking and community stalking. I'm on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Wordpress, Google+, Pinkpeace, My Blog on Google, etc. My Story of Organized Stalking, Corruption and Domestic Terrorism Over a decade of gang stalking in colossal proportion. https://mathenydebra.wordpress.com Organized Gang Stalking Campaigns are the most heinous form of Hate Crimes: A criminal act that involves one (or more) of three specific crime groupings (assault, property damage and harassment/stalking), that is directed toward an individual or group that is (or perceived to be) a member of a protected class as defined by the Minnesota Human Rights Act and is motivated by a offender bias. My Story of Gang Stalking, Corruption and Domestic Terrorism https://www.facebook.com/DebMatheny https://www.facebook.com/matheny.debra I do this for all the victims as well as to bring justice to my father and daughter who were murdered to silence me. It's this angst that drives me to victory and my motivation to ensure this type of hate crime against innocent people cease, and not be allowed to flourish without legal consequence. http://www.change.org/petitions/minnesota-governor-mark-dayton-order-an-independent-investigation-addressing-the-corruption The Menace of #SatelliteSurveillance & #NoTouchTorture https://mathenydebra.wordpress.com/2015/03/16/the-menace-of-satellitesurveillance-notouchtorture/

  • Senate: Block Barron Vote Until DoJ Shares Drone Memos
David Barron, formerly a lawyer in the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, wrote a secret legal memo approving the September 2011 drone strike that killed two U.S. citizens. Now Barron has been nominated to the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals. The American Civil Liberties Union is calling on Senators to delay consideration of Barron’s nomination until all Senators have the opportunity to read all of the memos Barron has written on government killing with drone strikes. The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the Justice Department must make public portions of its memos justifying the extra-judicial killing of U.S. citizens with drones. But the Administration has not yet complied with the ruling. Join the ACLU in calling on the Senate to delay consideration of Barron’s nomination until the Administration has shared the drone strike memos by signing our petition.

  • Outlaw NET Domination
The internet as a mode of free speech has been a breath of fresh air, an arena to voice opinions which are disallowed in day to day life. It has been a vent for a whole population who want to communicate, share ideas, locate like minds and transform a reactionary system. Making this medium proprietary would shut that creative medium off for control by the few with the most cash. That means the wasting away of creativity for domination. How similar to what Hitler did through genocide! In point of fact, we would be healthier and wealthier as a group, if the NET was a UTILITY- either for a base rate, or free for everyone. The companies who want to pig out on profits inch up their rates, *bundle* to pretend these are savings when you don't even want their pitiful program offerings, and in this country (U.S.), most communications corporations enforce long ridiculous contracts with concomitant penalties for leaving these *special* programs early. What a hoax. What a crock. What a sad enslavement for the benefit of the greedy. I say dethrone the dominators. Dignify the voice of the people.

  • Save the "Internet" from a "Pay to Play" fast lane system.
I use the internet as a research tool for mostly all important items, such as medical info, purchasing info, contacts, research for knowledge, comunication to solving certain problems, and a host of other important things. I understand that the internet was practically built with taxpayers' money for the general public ... and the Goverment should not allow private companies to have major control of the system. This is not the right thing to do.... I am totally against this move.

  • Stop corporate support for the NRA
For years the NRA has fought any form of reasonable gun legislation, even changes supported by a majority of its own members. By boycotting those companies that support the NRA, we can bring an economic impact to an otherwise purely political argument. Like the Flush Rush campaign, this economic approach might make these companies reconsider their positions.

  • Anti-Asian abortion ban in California - Take action!
Tomorrow, the California Assembly Health Committee will consider an abortion ban that stigmatizes our community and could lead to racial profiling of Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) women in the doctors office. We’re outraged that this is happening in the state with the highest number of AAPIs, and during the first week of Asian American Heritage Month no less. Tell California lawmakers to reject AB2336. AB 2336 is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. As with similar bans spreading across the country, the people behind AB 2336 consistently vote against women’s rights- including reproductive rights, equal pay, and freedom from gender-based violence. They say this “sex selective abortion ban” is about gender equality, but it’s really about banning abortion. They’re doing it under the pretense of equality to pass it through without a fight. Worse, AB 2336 stereotypes the AAPI community. Without conclusive evidence, anti-choice politicians are saying Asian immigrants are bringing backward values to the U.S. and practicing sex-selection because they prefer boy children. They’re relying on what is happening in India and China, and on anti-immigrant sentiment, to try and pass this bill on the backs of AAPI women. If this bill passes, doctors in California may scrutinize AAPI women’s health decisions in ways other women wouldn’t be subject to. They may even decide not to provide us abortion care, out of fear of going to jail and paying heavy fines. This is unacceptable. Tell California lawmakers to vote NO on AB 2336.

  • No more fiery oil-by-rail disasters in our back yards!
The recent train derailment in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia, sent several punctured, burning oil cars plunging into the James River—a major water source for local communities and major cities downstream, including Richmond. The amount of crude oil spilled into the river hasn't yet been confirmed, but even a small amount of gooey, sticky crude oil could be disastrous to the watershed. This fiery disaster comes after the purported implementation of "voluntary" safety improvements demanded by the Department of Transportation. The regulatory system just hasn't caught up to the problem. Tell President Obama and Congress to get these dangerous oil tank cars off our cities' railways NOW! Last week, two days of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) hearings emphasized what the advisory agency has been saying for decades: NOW is the time to get the most dangerous tank cars transporting crude OFF the rails. Take action to protect tens of thousands of cities nationwide that are being put at risk by dangerous crude oil rail cars.
