Stop The FCC Plan To Create Internet "Slow Lane"An open "Internet" should be based on "net neutrality" however the proposed rule-making effort by the FCC will create a two tier system. The fast lane for corporate customers and the slow lane for everyone else. “Artists, developers, culture workers, media-makers, nonprofit organizations, community, civic and church groups must tell the FCC that this isn’t good enough. We need real rules of the road for ISPs to guarantee that creative expression and entrepreneurship can thrive in the online ecosystem.250 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Henry Harris

Parents against Texas STARR TestMy children attend Killeen School District and I am against standardized testing that determines the promotion level of students. If a child passes all their subjects in school and fail the STARR exam at the end of the school year, they will not be promoted to the next grade level. That is not right!! Children are stressed out at an early age and are taking medications because of the pressures of STARR Testing every year. We are building our kids up during the school year to tear them down at the end if they do not pass ONE test. How can ONE test determine if your child has learned anything throughout the year. If he or she is passing every quarter then that demonstrates that they are getting the concepts and are learning the curriculum that is put before them. We need to put an end to STARR testing!!!75 of 100 SignaturesCreated by vandrenese satterwhite

Get more corporations to ditch private prison industry!Private prisons spend millions on lobbying to get more people behind bars and keep them there longer. Safeway CEO: Label GMOsWhen I’m buying food at Safeway, I should be able to make an informed choice. But Safeway doesn’t label its products that contain genetically modified ingredients, or GMOs. While more research needs to be done to understand the full impact of GMOs, they are not without risk. For example, GMOs are responsible for a 400 million pound increase in pesticide use in the United States between 1995 and 2011 [1]. And GMOs don’t undergo independent safety testing before they’re allowed onto the market, which the American Medical Association recommends [2]. It’s time for Safeway to follow the lead of other grocery chains like Whole Foods and label GMOs in its store-brand products so that we can decide for ourselves whether or not we want to eat GMOs. FCC: Stop killing net neutrality!Last week, the news broke that the FCC intends to blow us off and betray the principle of equal access to the Internet. We need to stop them. Later this month they'll meet to start working on a new regulation that would allow Internet Service Providers like Comcast and Verizon to make it relatively harder for us to access other content -- and make it easier for us to access content whose owners (big corporations) pay them fees. Big corporations that can afford to pay fees will finally have taken over the Internet -- just like they have TV, radio, and newspapers. And it'll be harder for independent businesses, artists, news outlets, and activists like us to survive. We need to pressure the FCC to scrap this plan and start over, by implementing real open Internet rules that treat everybody equally and fairly and don't tilt the Internet in ways that benefit big corporations.723 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Demand Progress

Don't Leave Poor People Out of the Minimum Wage DebateWhen a buyer asks a post-sale question, eBay deceptively opens a case for the buyer, and the seller will get a defect unfairly even after the seller resolves the case to the buyer’s satisfaction. One Top-Rated Seller has 417 resolved cases. Under proposed new Seller Performance Standards, he will be punished with 417 defects even though buyers were completely happy. His defect rate will be below eBay's minimum standards for selling on eBay. eBay’s unfair and deceptive new Seller Performance Standards will affect over 25 million sellers. Many Top Rated Sellers will be punished and fall below eBay's new minimum standards, and their selling privileges will be restricted or limited after November 20, 2014.41 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bennett Yang
