  • Protect our 1st Amendment rights in Lake Elsinore California.
The City is using code enforcement, and their sanctioned religious group "Cops and Clergy" and law enforcement to trample the people's 1st Amendment rights here in Lake Elsinore, California. They are abusive, discriminative, and prejudiced. They have taken our liberties, kicked us out of the park because we are low income or Christian. There is no longer representation for the people, they have become the criminals.

  • change mental health law
Change the mental health law -- as the law reads at this time, someone who is mentally ill has to either request help themselves or the court has to force them to go in response to an attempt to end their lives. But that's not enough. I'm asking for a change in that law that will allow a first-degree family member (parents, siblings, spouse, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or first cousins) to request a mental health evaluation for someone. This will allow an accurate assessment of someone who may not be in the position mentally to seek help when the family notices a critical change in their personality The average age of onset of schizophrenia is 18 in men and 25 in women. Schizophrenia onset is quite rare for people under 10 years of age. Persons with this mental disorder see and hear things that we do not (delusions). They believe they are real. They also are paranoid of pretty much every thing and everyone. Persons with this disorder don't know they are sick; they only believe their reality. So the probability of someone with this disorder walking in on their own is zero. And since this disease doesn't start in childhood, it cannot be detected and treated while under a parent's discretion. We (the adopted parents, and I, biological mother) started noticing our son was having delusions of crazy events and supposed conversations he claimed having with us in January. And he grew more isolated and paranoid over the weeks. One of his delusions had him threatening his grandfather's life, as he was afraid for his own life for no apparent reason other than what he believed. Soon he thought everyone that loved him was out to get him. We both tried to get him help but his paranoia and lack of capability to trust made it impossible . He even had contact with the Clackamas County sheriff's office, that he called himself (his cry for help). They called me and acknowledged his psychotic behavior and suggested he be seen, but couldn't do anything but hoped we could coax him into a mental health clinic because of the law. I called him in as a missing person April 20th 2014. April 22 2014, I got a knock on my door. My Baby, my only son who just graduated Helensveiw High school; Brandon Alex Mandeville committed suicide April 19th 2014 off Hwy 99 in Aurora, Oregon. He was all alone and believed he had no one; in the dark and cold, and all alone he hung himself. What we didn't know was that he beleived that every one that cared about him was setting him up for a bank robbery , murder, and rape. He made a video of himself telling about it. And he really believed it. That was only one of an unknown number of delusions he was acting out. He had no food except for 1 can of Pork and Beans and his wallet with his E.B.T food card wasn't on his person. His coat was drenched from the pouring rain, and he no longer had a cell phone. He was afraid of the dark and yet had no flash light with him. Also he told the Deputy Sherif that he was heading to California to be a telagrapher just several days before . Prior to the delusions he was trying to make sense of why he was hearing voices and was seeking help. I would not say he was able to make safe decisions for himself. This Petition is no way written to infringe on anyone's rights in any way, but only to get them the proper medical help they need and a fighting chance at beating this illness . Don't let his life be in vain. A law shouldn't have stood in the way of him living. We couldn't save his life, but we can save others This could be your son or daughter or mom or dad or you.

  • Don't Leave Poor People Out of the Minimum Wage Debate
Mr. Ferrell acted unjustly and as a poor leader on April 26th, the prom night for Pinecrest High School. His leadership, or rather lack of leadership, reflects poorly on Moore County and the North Carolina education system. He ruined what is for most people a once in a lifetime opportunity- a Prom only comes around twice for most high school students and on April 19th many high school seniors were denied entrance into their final Prom ever. An irreplaceable experience. When reporters arrived, instead of taking up leadership of the situation and responding in a positive way, Mr. Ferrell only told the reporters that they were banned from Pinecrest's campus- now that is outrageous that he can act like a dictator and think that he has the authority to make a decision like that one in a such a sensitive situation. Mr. Ferrell- come down off your power buzz that you're on and resign, it's time to move on. You were hired by the Moore County Education System to be a principal, not a prison warden. More on Ferrell's dictatorship actions can be found here; http://www.aberdeentimes.com/index.php/local/item/1520-pinecrest-prom-ruined-for-dozens-of-students-parents-saturday-night

  • stop pro-ana sites
My petition is to take down the pro-Ana and pro-mia sites on the internet. They are harmful to the youth of the whole world. They teach people to starve and hurt themselves. My 17-year-old sister passed away from an eating disorder in 2010 and it's affected our family in every way possible. Please take these sites down before they affect another family.

  • Tell the NBA: Racist LA Clippers owner has to go!
The audio recording that allegedly features LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling on a racist and sexist rant -- telling his girlfriend that she can’t be seen with black people in public -- is appalling. This is not the first time Sterling has been accused of such disgraceful prejudice and hostility. He has displayed repeated misogynistic behavior, and has been sued multiple times for racial discrimination. Meanwhile, the NBA continues to turn a blind eye and let the 80-year-old billionaire keep his esteemed position as a NBA team owner. Enough is enough.

  • BERNARDS TC: DO NOT ADOPT THE QUARRY RESOLUTION
All residents of BernardsTownship will be adversely affected if the Township Committee allows more fill to be dumped at the quarry. The World Health Organization declared in June 2012 that diesel exhaust fumes are a human carcinogen more dangerous than secondhand smoke. Aside from that irrefutable evidence, the trucks themselves pose a danger to the safety and welfare of residents. Passing the resolution will allow 1 truck every minute, 10 hrs. a day, 6 days a week.

  • Sign Our Thank You Note to Google
The Washington Post reported huge news: “NARAL successfully lobbies Google to take down deceptive pregnancy center ads.” We discovered that if you Googled “abortion clinic,” ads funded by anti-choice crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) appeared 79 percent of the time. CPCs don’t provide or refer for abortion care, and they shouldn’t trick women into thinking that they do. Google’s leadership in removing the majority of these ads is a victory for truth in advertising. Countless women will be spared lies and shaming tactics intended to stop them from making their own decisions based on real medical advice. It won’t be long before CPCs and their supporters go after Google for making this change because deceptive ads are one of the primary ways they lure women into their doors. That’s why we’re organizing a thank-you letter to show Google executives they did the right thing and encourage them to stand strong against pressure from our opponents.

  • Parent PLUS Loans: Accept Transfers!
As a full-time employee at a not-for-profit organization, I am able to make monthly on-time payments on my government loans with the hope that with 120 on-time payments my government loans will be forgiven through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Currently my parents are unable to make on-time payments on a Parent PLUS loan they took out for my education. Since Parent PLUS loans are non-transferable, this means that even if I make payments on behalf of my parents for the Parent PLUS loan, the loan, which will be paid by myself entirely, is not be considered eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, since the Parent PLUS loan is underneath my parents' names, and not mine. Graduates who are able to make on-time payments, especially those who have loans that can be considered forgiven, should have the opportunity to transfer the debt from their parent/guardian who signed for the Parent PLUS loan to themselves; that way we can help our loved ones like they helped us in helping with the cost of our education.
